Ben Affleck: Excited Dad And Excited Citizen

Actor and activist Ben Affleck has a lot to be excited about these days. He's in DC for the inauguration and joked with reporters that wife Jennifer Garner "let him out" so he could attend the festivities.
He's already bragging about his new daugher, Seraphina.
'She's gorgeous!' the proud pop raved to OK! about baby girl
Seraphina Rose...'She's
doing great,' he added."
Yet the excitement of a new baby couldn't keep him from flying across the country to attend the inauguration, although it sounds like he doesn't have tickets.
'I'm going to camp out,' the star told Usmagazine.com at his Feeding America hunger rally on Monday in Washington, D.C. 'I'll bring a tent -- and a heater!' "
Now that's some enthusiasm! Good thing you have a heater; you'll need it, Ben ;)
He's interested in humanitarian work in Africa. Since becoming a father, he's begun to think more about the world as a whole.
[I] think less about the immediate future and more about the world around me,' he said. "
Good for him! Judging from the pictures, Ben seems to be enjoying himself as he mingles with fans and mugs for the camera ;)

I would hope he would brag about his new baby! They are so incredibly boring & predictable.
he should probably stay with his wife and daughters
What a selfish douchebag, Jennifer Garner just had a baby he should be at home with his family in LA. Even when Jen was pregnant he was always away from home, traveling and partying. This is what happens when you have a shotgun wedding and a band aid baby.
This is a once in a life time event, (the Obama Inauguration) if his wife "lets him out" more power to him. You all don't give a shit about Jen Garner anyway, who are you kidding (talking to you Anonymous 9:23)
What else could Ben say, "My wife didn't want me to go but I went anyway" what celebrity is going some to say something like that.
It's Ben who is the one who doesn't give a sh*t about Jen Garner because he is the one who made the choice to leave her at home with a new born baby and a three year old to look after while he went to Washington. How much nicer would it have been had he stayed in LA and watched the inauguration with his wife on TV. His wife just had a baby Ben should have stayed home, but he is not like his buddy Matt Damon, who did stay home with his wife and new born baby instead of going to the Obama's nomination ceremony in Denver. Now that's a good husband, who truly loves and cares about his wife.

Funny, either we read the same blogs or you posted much of this, almost vebatim, on another site. It would make it a whole lot easier if you had just tape recorded the conversation that you heard Ben Affleck and Jen Garner have about how either of them felt about his going to the inauguration. That way those of us who are adults and know that she likely isn't falling apart without him and probably encouraged him to be there to experience the SECOND once-in-a-lifetime event for him this month (the first being the birth of their second child, btw), can be proven wrong. Do you think that they didn't realize after all the campaigning they did that the inauguration might be pretty close to when their child was due? And that they likely discussed whether he would go or not prior to it taking place? His mother was recently there with them and may still be helping to take care of Violet. Coincidence? I think not.

"Since becoming a father, he's begun to think more about the world as a whole." I'm not a parent yet I think about the world as a whole. It bugs me that most of these celebs spout the same idiotic statement as though they are some kind of saints now. Well, the only thing this says about him is that he was seriously self absorbed.

I am definitely not a fan of him or his wife (see above) however, I dont see a problem with him being at this event. Traveling is part of his job, so I am sure they are used to being apart temporarily.
Oh my God, so what she is left home with the kids?! She is a grown woman & I seriously doubt she is there alone. His mother had been staying with them & I am sure they have the nanny situation all covered. Damn, the man should be allowed to leave the house, newborn at home or not.
Plus, we all know Ben is aching for some kind of political position in the future.

I would be quite pissed off if my husband left me to go off somewhere that he was not forced to go (ie by the Army) that soon after my giving birth ...and I have a huge family to help me but I just feel that a father should be home with a newly born baby but maybe that is just me.....
