Kate Hudson is certainly one of the top leading ladies at the box office. You have to hand it to her, she’s carved out a niche for herself as a woman that can hold down a good chick flik. But, now the actress wants to go deeper.
"Do I want darker roles? If course. It has to be right though. I’m not
just going to make a movie that’s, ‘Oh she’s a whore, prostitute and
heroin addict.’"
She says the problem is just that these kinds of roles are few and far in between for the women of Hollywood.
"It is very hard to get female-driven movies made. It’s hard to get boys into the theatre. It’s a business. That’s just
they way it is unfortunate for us ladies. What you need is a high
concept; a movie that women want to see that men don’t feel like you’re
twisting their arm to see."
She usually plays characters that are so…happy! And perky! I would have a hard time buying her in a darker role. What do you think, could she pull it off?
I didn’t like her on Skeleton Key, I had a hard time recovering from that!

I am not the biggest KH fan, but I thought she did a great job in the skeleton key role and in general, I think she holds her own in most of her films.
I am so tired of hearing about how hard it is for ladies to play serious roles. I’m tired of all the complaining.

Sorry but you are kate HUDSON…not kate WINSLETT…big difference. And it isn’t tough to have a woman lead a dark, gritty movie and not be a whore, you just have to have the last name of Winslett and you’re all set.

Uhh, not a big fan, she’s definitely not a good actress, her best role was almost famous and I don’t even think she was that great in it, it was the guy who played william, so she should stick to what she knows or stop altogether. wow, i sound bitchy…it’s this economy it’s really affecting me
She wants darker roles as long as they’re not icky. Since low-class dark roles won’t do, I guess that just leaves roles such as Mara Hari, Cruella d’Evil, and Margaret Thatcher.
Ugh. What a shallow, unrealistic goober of a woman she is. And a lousy actress, too. Her performance in “How to Lose a Guy…” was craptacular. She has two expressions, both of them overdone.
I thought she did a great job in Skeleton Key. I love her!! Go Kate!!

I dont think id go see her in a darker role, didnt she try that already and the movie tanked?? skeleton key or whatnot?? I only like her because shes so smiley and cute, and even then she flirts with annoying.
shes a bad actress so she can’t bank on her talents! Her looks and happiness get her into what she does so far, cheese chic flicks. Stick to what you know honey, leave the good roles for those that deserve it with good talent. She beautiful but maybe she should model, like seriously, how to lose a guy in 10 days? MAybe acting classes are in order.
I don’t think she can pull it off. It’s sad that some of these actors don’t have someone in their lives who is honest enough to tell them “you can’t act”. I think there are many who need this dose of reality. Oh, and beauty can only take you so far at some point people are going to be tired of the same old thing.
um, Kate, sorry to break this to you but you can’t act and you only get movie parts because some consider you Hollyweird “royalty”, just like that rumer the tater head.

I agree with the first commenter, I saw Skeleton key and she sucked in it. However, I did like her in Almost Famous. She needs to stick to light roles. Or just plain “whore” roles. (just kidding! I think….)
I loved her in Almost Famous and she was funny in 200 Cigarettes, too.
