One BIG HOAX – that’s what friends of Joaquin Phoenix are saying his rap career really is! Casey Affleck and Joaquin are in on it together and it’s all really just an “art project”.
One close friend tells Entertainment Weekly magazine,
“He said, Its a put-on. Im going to pretend to have a meltdown and change careers, and Casey is going to film it.”Its an art project for him. Hes going full out. He probably has told his reps that hes quit acting. Joaquin is very smart. This is very conscious. He has a huge degree of control.”
A close friend huh? He just dropped the bomb on Joaquin’s art project. Not sure how close this person can be…

That just sounds silly & stupid & not very smart…like a waste of time…Since when is he some kind of performance artist? Either be an actor or not. I am so tired of these celebs trying to manipulate their images…He wasnt having problems getting publicity or acting jobs, so what is up with the lunacy?

Ugh. No one likes to be manipulated, particularly when the world already has so many things to be in annoyed about–the economy, the wars, the housing market, etc. Maybe he’s doing this for attention, but this is just going to make people ignore him.

This is either really sad or genius. I was just watching his interview on letterman and if he isn’t fucked up then that is just amazing acting. I just wonder how far he will go with this.

I just feel really bad for him. He’s had problems from such a young age, especially after witnessing what happened to River. The whole family has problems. They are tremendously talented, but I’m afraid what will happen to him. I’m glad this thing is a hoax, but in all honesty, does that really make it any better?
