Meryl Streep Hopes For More Roles For Older Women

Meryl Streep had such enormous success with Mamma Mia that she's hoping it will open the doors for more roles for older women in Hollywood. She says actresses over 40 are "disdained," but thinks that can change.
"I'm out there on behalf of all the old broads and I'm proud."
Meryl is one of the best actresses out there, regardless of her age! She's 59, but she seems young at heart. Hopefully she won't quit the movie-making business any time soon.

I love this actress. she is a fantastic performer. Everything this women does in the movies is great....death becomes her-hilarious, the devil wears prada-fantastic, heck even she-devil- she was great. she is so classy yet she plays the trashy/crazy characters so well. She is awesome! I love Meryl Streep

LOVE her. Finally, an older actress who looks and doesn't mind looking and acting her age.
Hands down the greatest actress alive. She's sooooooo versatile! I believe her in every role she's in. And I loved her in Death Becomes Her (Good one Cass).
Thanx!

I sincerely doubt that Hollywood "disdains" older women. There just aren't stories about older women that the general public are interested in seeing. What's wrong with that?

even though I don't agree with her politics, she is one of my all time favorite actresses...but seriously, girlfriend needs a stylist!

Yay for old broads! ;o)
I disagree with the above comment: I for one would love to see "stories about older women". Most young actresses today can't even compare with people like Ms. Streep. And society is so shallow anymore, what happened to movies that make you think? I'm sad to see the constant Dumbing Down of America taking place......

I think there have been more movies as of late for the non-20-something actors - I applaud Meryl for pushing it though - she is fabulous!

Anonymous @ 3:44, that made no sense. I was praising Meryl because she's an old broad, like me.
I didn't mean your comment, I didn't see yours when I posted. If you read through, you'll see which one I'm responding to. :)

She is a brilliant actress. Every roll she plays she becomes that character. Her and Susan Sarandon are my 2 favorites.
