Jessica Alba Struggled To Lose Baby Weight

Remember new mom Jessica Alba’s amazing Campari photoshoot? She now admits to Elle magazine that shedding the baby weight for it was tough.Really tough.

[The workouts] were horrible. I cried. And I haven’t worked out since.”

And how did she manage to look so great right after giving birth?

I wore a girdle. Eight weeks after my girlfriend had her baby, you
could see her six-pack. She told me to put an elastic band around my
waist – any kind of band or girdle works. She was like, ‘I slept in
it.’ I didn’t recover as fast as she did. I don’t have a six-pack -
that’s just not my body at all.”

Has anyone else tried sleeping in an elastic band around their weight to slim down after giving birth? It sounds like Jessica’s girlfriend had good genes!

Although I’ve seen so much of it I shouldn’t be surprised, it still amazes me how we expect actresses and models to just “bounce right back” after giving birth to their incredibly thin pre-pregnancy body.We all know it doesn’t work that way!Good for Jessica for admitting that it’s incredibly hard work.

She struggled, oh my someone give her an award : ) Now, if only she’ll put that same effort into her acting skills maybe she will get an award : )

I heard she had lap band surgery.

My sister wore a girdle for a little while after her kids were born, and it did help, but I don’t think she slept in it.

So instead of basking in motherhood and bonding with her child in those first few weeks, she was on the treadmill crying and wishing for her old body?

  5. The Valleys says:

Brook Burke swears by it. Do you think it’ll work say…5 years after you give birth? lol..i’m losing the right to call it my “baby weight”.

A friend turned me on to it. I wear it to exercise, it does spot reduce the water weight out, great for once a month. She wears hers all the time and it worked for her. It makes your muscles resist essentially. She lost a lot of inches, she wore hers all the time. Especially housework. You can pick them up at TJ Maxx or marshalls for 4-6 bucks, or target has them too, http://www.target.com/gp/search/180-7077208-1955734?field-keywords=body%20belt&afid=google&CPNG=Baby&LNM=body_belt&LID=6373887&ref=tgt_adv_XSGT0762 I figured what would it hurt to blow four bucks? I loved it bought three more for rotation in the gym bag. LOVE it. I got the Bally one and a danskin.

I don’t know about you guys but I didn’t care what I looked like after I had my babies….I was too exhausted and tired and all I care about was taking care of my child and get some sleep which I didn’t really get much of. But now that my children are older – I might like to try the girdle….I’m sure my husband will laugh and say “WTF”??

  8. Ladylala says:

Well she looks pretty incredible in that photo, so I guess it does work.

thats part of the problem waiting too long and then is not only “baby weight” you are trying to get rid of but all additional weight. Its best to start as soon as you give birth so your body goes back to normal asap… besides there’s no gain without pain lol it will hurt some but the results are worth it.

She should talk to Tori Spelling, she lost it all plus some. Their girls are the same age. Tori did Nurta System the first time, but I don’t know if she did it with the second baby.

LOL…Me too, been working on the same 7-10 lbs for 5 years now…

When I had my first baby my mother asked if I had a girdle to which I relied “NO”. She went out and bought me one – I didn’t even know they still made them. It worked. Second baby I totally didn’t think about it (we both had major health problems after the birth). Didn’t bounce back nearly as well.

Women from Puerto Rico have been wearing thin elastic girdles after the birth of their children for years. Every one of my sisters (9 of them) wore a girdle for a few months and it really does help you lose some of the water weight and trains your stomache muscles.

i don’t know if it’s the winter blahs or what but i am so tired today!! and on days when i’m not tired, i’m cranky. today i was really really hungry at lunch and now i just feel like going to bed. i know i am not preggers because i have an iud, but i’m exhausted. do you guys get like that in the winter?

  16. Anonymous says:

I’ve been watching my weight lately. Not because I’m obsessed with downsizing to the popular size 2. Had to say that. But winter will make yah feel like that. I indulged in a nice sandwich from Quiznos today. What I really wanted was Jersey Mikes but it was a good change. Oh and I’m sleepy as well.

P.S. Girdles work big time. You have to wear it all the time though. I don’t sleep in mine. Painful!

  17. ErikaLT says:

Tell me about it! It dropped to 16 here today and all I want is potatoes and soup! And some bread on the side!

  18. XOXO says:

    Girdles? what types of girdles?

    I want to try it!

    he he

I know of two…There’s one called the “Belly Bandit” and there’s another one created by (the freakishly slimmed down) Brooke Burke. I wish I had known about them after my 1st baby. It also helps reduce swelling and to pull your uterus back in…I got my abs back, but the uterus behind them was always pushing them out, IMO. I’m preggo again, and I’m gonna get my hands on one of these this time around!!!

what the heck is a girdle?! and yeah winter always get me down a bit … i miss the sunny weather so much

  21. ShoeSlut says:

I appreciate her talking about how hard it was to get her body back into pre-baby shape. I want to hit the celebs that come out and say “It just all fell back into place” barf

  22. Ellie says:

    Don’t reproduce. period.

  23. Anonymous says:

Too bad your parents didn’t take that advice.

This really bothers me. The media shines on how beautiful pregnant celebrities are but then if they dont lose the baby weight in a nanosecond their fat and lazy. Our (womens) bodies are designed and meant to lose the weight safely. Yes it takes some help with exercise and diet but wearing a girdle even while sleeping???? PLEASE. Be ECSTATIC that youre a mother when there a millions of women out there who are unable to.

Haha! I love Harlow’s face in this picture! And I’ve actually never heard of wearing a girdle to loose weight. Interesting.

Harlow? Wrong celebrity. This is Jessica Alba and her baby is Honor Marie

  27. Jack says:

I wore one, sort of, it was a wrap around thing that was supposed to help with my back while I was pregnant and then I used it for my boobs because once milk came in they were huge and sore and pressure helped I also used it to keep my mom tummy in and I’m sure that it helped with getting everything back on track and in place; but I dont think that its the way to lose weight. Im sure that some people wrap those things so tight they cant breath but hey maybe its just me but I like breathing!
