Salma Hayek has previously stated how much she loves breast feeding. Last year she said she was so hooked on it that she’s "like an alcoholic."
In fact, she told the Today Show that while she was on a trip to Africa visiting a refugee camp, she nursed another woman’s starving baby.

Salma current mission is to promote breast feeding in Africa.

the whole breastfeeding hoopla i wonder about that. i babysit 2 brothers who were both breastfed for their first 12-18 months.they’re both underweight,the eldest (3 years old) is tiny, he’s in the 10th percentile for his age group.the youngest (1 year old) is so small,he’s wearing clothes for 6 month olds.they’re both on inhalers for asthma and even when they get a cold, i have to use the inhalers.the older one especially is sick almost constantly.he’s had strep,pneumonia, numerous ear infections,you name it.i think there’s something wrong with him… maybe diabetes. he pees like 15 times a day,pees his pants at least once a day.he doesn’t have a very big appetite, either.you can’t understand much of what he says.I don’t know how he’s going to start school in the fall.the one year old doesn’t talk yet, he says maybe 3 words total. my own kids, twins, were formula fed after a week of breastfeeding.i didn’t have enough milk and they were losing weight, so the doctor recommended formula.they’re really big for their age (height wise). they’re 8 years old (twins) and my daughter is almost 5’3″ already and wears women’s size 9 shoes. my son is just slightly smaller than her, but still big.they were big from day one, early talkers, but late walkers probably because they were so big for their age.neither of them is overweight, they’re both very athletic.they’re both straight “A” students and almost never get sick. they’ve never had an ear infection, just a few normal colds and flus when they first started school.and although people think breastfed babies have a better bond with their mothers, that’s bull.my kids are very devoted and loving children.i will never buy into this breast is best garbage.it’s handy and much cheaper, yes. but beyond that, it’s all the same.as another example, my best friend since grade 6, she was breastfed until she was 2. i know because her parents still kid her about that. she is about 260 lbs,has had 2 miscarriages, is prone to bronchitis,and although yes she’s smart (she’s an accountant), she can’t spell to save her life.all the “studies” about breastfeeding are slanted and biased.
You can’t really compare your children to someone else children. Breast milk or formula may not have played any role in how they have developed. I mean, everyone is diferent and I’m sure you don’t have the families entire medical and genetic history. Some kids aren’t as tall as others, not “A” students like others, or some kids are just sickly. It happens. I’m not going to sit here and say one is better than the other. But I feel that if a mom is taking proper care of herself while nursing her babies I can’t help but think that it has to be a better than something created in a lab. I mean it’s what babies were meant to drink. People are mammals, and mammals nurse their young. That’s why we have breasts and produce milk in the first place.
Well I just think it is an indiviuals choice. If you want to breastfeed, great. If you decide to use formula, that’s good too. It’d be nice if everyone would get off their soap box about it no matter which side of the argument you are on. And for the record, yes I did breastfeed my child.

It’s funny how when an example is brought up of a formula fed child being smarter or healthier, etc., the breastfeeding advocates dismiss it and say stuff like “You can’t compare one child to another.” And yet, if a breastfed child was smarter or healthier than a formula fed child, the lactivists would be all over it. Obviously you have seen many breastfeeding boobs. Most of the time they’re stretched out and sagging. It looks like a bowling ball in a tube sock. Unless the mom has very small breasts to begin with, she’ll need a super heavy duty bra for the rest of her life. When my mother in law sits down her boobs are on her lap (and no she’s not fat). That’s what breastfeeding does in the long term.

I think is was an incredibly generous thing to do. My grandmother breastfed her neighbors baby at the same time she was breastfeeding her own. The neighbor didn’t have enough milk and couldn’t afford to get formula.

Sorry but that’s just gross. If you are trying to save a starving baby, you can quite easily express the milk, either manually or with a pump. It is totally inappropriate to put someone else’s child on your breast. There are so many implications here. It’s funny to think that 100 years ago, only poor women would actually breastfeed their own children. Wet nurses were commonplace and for centuries it was rare to find women who breastfed. Now, people seems to be horrified that someone other than the mother of the child would breastfeed them. 70 yrs ago in rural Italy, everyone was poor and common decency and helping your neighbor was a way of life and survival. Formula doesn’t even COMPARE to breast milk. If that baby was starving, breast milk was the best thing for him/her. I just can’t believe some of these rude and ignorant comments. It’s like some of these people are on something. I watched the whole thing on primetime last night. I thought it was really beautiful that she did that. Salma explained that years ago her great-grandmother saw a woman crying on the street saying she had run out of milk and her baby was starving. She was breastfeeding her own child so she had the milk so she breastfed the child and saved it from starving. Supposedly that story always stayed with Salma so it was really neat for her to be able to do the same thing. I personally think it’s sad people get so mad about breastfeeding and think it’s sick to breastfeed other people’s kids (and I mean in circumstances where it’s needed and there is permission). We have become so sexually-obsessed in today’s society that something so pure and natural as breastfeeding becomes something more than it is.
