Joaquin Phoenix Doesn’t Want To Be A Sex Symbol Anymore

So that’s the reason behind the scruff! Mystery solved.

Joaquin Phoenix doesn’t want to be seen as a sex symbol anymore. He’s now going on record to tell the world why he’s gone back to basics.

People have called me a sex symbol in the past, but it’s very
much an effort. People know me as this kind of thing and in some ways I don’t know that this
is my look.

It’s been important for me to just do something that’s extreme – that really
separates me from that public Joaquin Phoenix persona, whatever the f***
that is.

Though there is one other option as to why he’s disregarded he’s looks completely. :)

Or maybe I’m just lazy.

What if it were a female celebrity who had just completely stopped with any superficial upkeep the way Joaquin has? Can you imagine the backlash?!?

What morons…what are you, 12? Joaquin has never considered himself a sex symbol, it was Hollywood that tried to make him something he’s not and now he’s saying f**k you to that Hollywood crap and being his own person for once. Why can’t you respect that? Go back and read the whole interview…if you’re able.
