I understand that she wants to be trendy, but she really should dress size appropriate. She's a very pretty girl, and she's shaped like most of us Americans! She should embrace her body, not ignore it.

I think that even though she has alot of confidence she IS overweight. She needs to wear clothes that flatter her figure and not make her look like this, which is clearly wrong!! I read somewhere she said she exercised but I really can't tell.

It's a unanimous decision, the outfit is fugly and it doesn't flatter her figure at all but geez why is everyone so mean about it.
Yes ppl can exercise & not turn out to be rail thin.
These damn celebrities and trainers make it seem as if your not rail thin (size 0-2) then your fat & ppl believe them.
If Raven is a size 12 or 14 doesn't make her morbidly obese.
It's ok for a guy to be heavy but it's not ok for a girl.
Scenario: That same heavy/chunky guy goes on to make a child with a slim women. The child inherits his genes and now she has to live a life where she has to struggle to keep slim and can possibly end up with an eating disorder because there are mean kids out there that make fun and laugh at her because they learned it from their parents. It's a whole cycle. No matter how much self confidence one has, some mean words do hurt. There are way too many mean people out there.
I am glad you brought up how society says it is OK for a guy to be heavy. Do you ever read about Kevin James, Drew Carey, Jason Alexander, Seth Rogan, Jonah Hill, etc. needing to lose weight? Of course not! The double standard is bullsh*t.
Where did you ever hear it is OK for a guy to be overweight? It isn't that people say it is ok for guys and not for women. Women are just more harshly judged than men are. But I've seen criticism on blogs, tabloids, etc. of men who are over weight (Russell Crowe, etc.). I see no double standard. Raven is beautiful but as far as her fashion sense, she has none. No, you don't have to be a size 0 (I am) but learn what works for your body type (i.e. Queen Latifah who might I add always looks phenom.). My younger sister is no skinny girl but she has the fashion sense to know what works for her body and therefore whatever she wears makes her look stunning. Raven tries too hard and simply put, does not know fashion. She needs to hire a stylist.
Ok the point is that guys don't get ridiculed by society for being overweight.

Queen Latifah looks great. Raven is young and she's experimenting with fashion. I'm sure everyone has got an outfit from their past (younger years) they wish they never wore. This site is bias sometimes. There are so many stories that are left out and so many celebs.
I rarely see anything about non-caucasians on this site. What ever happen to Equal Opportunity. LL cool J does a lot of promoting for his clothing line. Vera is 30ish. she damn well know who LL is. I don't think it's lack of knowledge. Guess that's why there are lots of other site out there that ppl turn to for the rest of the info.

I think the outfit is horrible, but Raven's weight is just fine. She looks normal in that regard.
Her weight is not just fine. It's just too much. She has been known to say that she is just thick and beautiful. Well, maybe at one time she was just thick, now she has a serious weight problem. I'm glad that she feels good about herself because of her beauty, but beautiful overweight people die just like the not so beautiful.
Raven is very pretty, but be realistic, Raven is now more than thick and its not healthy. I knew someone who was also very pretty and overweight. She started out as thick, but continued to grow larger. She was young and died of a heart attack. Yes, she was young and beautiful, but her being over weight cost her her life. By the time she realized that it was out of control and tried to manage it, it was too late. For a long time she responded much like Raven and now she is dead. Raven dear, I think you are a lovely person. I’m glad you work out and you know your health better than anyone else, but I am overweight and outside of that my doctors say I’m healthy. Honestly you know that your weight is too much. Don’t be ashamed, just do what you know will take care of you and do your best to reduce your weight because if it is not a health issue now, it maybe one day. With Love

There are a lot of plus size stars who still look good such as Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah. Raven needs to invest in a stylist, she obviously can't pull it off herself. There are so many areas where she went wrong in this outfit. 1) Black bra.Why would she wear a black bra underneath her translucent top? With the size of her chest there is no way she could dream that would work, because it only makes her chest look massive. 2) Different shades of black. Everyone should know NOT to ever do this. It inevitably makes one shade look washed out. 3) flared skirt. NO! For her body type that only makes her look wider. 4) The pearls. Why on earth would you match the pearls on your ankle to the pearls on your neck. Just writing that makes me laugh its such a ridiculous idea. I feel that she just needs a little help and she could look great. You can tell that she is trying to look slimmer sucking it all in and doing the "hands on hips make me look like a model" pose. Im going to start my fashion blog again next month when I have time off work. People are suffering!Both the viewers and the wearers of bad clothing. LOL.

she did not inherited fat genes from mom or dad because she was tiny when she was a little girl on the Crosby show. she should lose weight for health reason and no she does not have to be a size 0 or 2 but certainly should be in the normal range. If I see someone who is underweight I would tell them to eat a sandwich or two. Why do people have to go to extreme to make a point....what happen to the middle???

I was a stick figure and underweight when I was born. Once i hit preteens and puberty started to show up things changed. All Genetics traits don't show up right away after birth you know.

I think that the whole outfit is very unflattering, not to even speak of the fact that I'm not digging the style of it. It wasnt a good choice for a girl who is bigger. It makes her midsection appear to jut out.
I am a size 2 and small chested and I would never consider wearing that outfit. I agree that shoes are good.

She made her body look so big that her head looks tiny by comparison. J-Hud or Queen Latifah's stylist needs to call her ASAP! Raven is a great girl but all you see in that picture is a poofy, ridiculous skirt.
I adore her but this outfit is waaaayyy too cutsie. Maybe a slightly longer skirt with the top or a different top with the skirt as is.
She's making herself look shorter and stumpier. Surely she can celebrate her size and body type in a more flattering way. As for the pearl anklet, she has nice ankles--why make one appear larger?? I would say get a new stylist, but I'm thinking she cooked this mess up herself.

I concur with the comments geared towards harshness of Raven. I think she is a very positive role model for ALL young women. It is time that some Americans pick up a book and read for a change. Once educated, many of you will realize that the shape of someone does NOT determine their worth in the world.
Look at all of these skinny and undernourished women that we make fun of. Then, some women gain weight. We make fun of them. Come on people...give it up already. How about we discuss the strength of Raven's character and intelligence? She is bright and projects an image of competence and honesty. I would totally encourage her presence - if I had kids.
I believe we should praise her for her beauty, wit, and acceptance of her self. She is a wonderful young lady. Shame on all of you for saying otherwise.

A white shirt with a dark colored pencil skirt with those shoes and a decent white bra would make this outfit work. You could even keep the pearl necklace but this is not the 90's lose the ankle bracelet.

When people like Raven, and people on comment boards say they aren't overweight and are comfortable with their size, I wonder where they got their medical diploma, since EVERY DOCTOR ON EARTH says being more than 50 lbs. overweight is MORBIDLY OBESE and is a direct cause of heart disease, diabetes, and early death. You can keep on fooling yourself all you want to. I had gastric bypass and went from being 150 lbs. overweight with diabetes, high blood pressure, bad cholesterol, and blood clots to not taking any medication for any of those things. I used to think I was just big boned, had more fat cells than other women, it was hereditary, it was slow metabolism....every excuse in the book. You eat too much, you eat more than you think you do, and you're killing yourself with every bite. If one person listens to this and stops living in a fantasy and actually does something about it, I promise you won't be sorry.
PPL can be "THICK" and not be unhealthy. Medical degree or not...american standard weight chart are ridiculous and MOST doctors agree it's not accurate.
