Patricia Arquette Hires Her Son For Medium Role

Nepotism is a touchy subject. Some people are wholeheartedly against the concept and others embrace it with open arms.

Patricia Arquette recently helped her son land a role on her hit TV show Medium because she couldn't find an actor that fit the bill.

Lucky, lucky Enzo!

"We were casting very quickly and we were shooting while we were casting, and the character is 40 years old and we needed him when he was like 16 or 18 years old. At that point your face is very formed so when we put them next to the father, they looked too big, or they didn’t look like the man we’d cast (as the dad), so I called my son the night before and said, ‘You have to do this’. He’s 20 but he looks pretty young."

Enzo isn't an actor and has never tried to break into the industry. So, Patricia made sure that he was prepared.

"He’s not an actor. I went through his lines with him every night. He’s going to art school, it’s not a priority for him."

That really is one creative family isn't it? Every sibling has those juices flowing one way or another.

I'd say Hollywood is all about nepotism. I mean, hello miley's daddy, hello miley and, most likely hello miley's little sister.

Plus, Patricia talked about it openly, she didn't try to make it look like her son is a great discovery for a role or something. I think that's great.

I think it's good that she's helping her son out. It's just a problem when parents know their kids aren't talented and then help them out. For example, Will Smith did a great job with his son in the Pursuit of Happiness!

I like a Patricia, but still makes me angry that Hollywood rolls that way...Nepotism runs rampant, waaaayy worse than in regular life. I just feel like there are so many acting greats out in the world that will never get discovered or even get a chance because, "hey, so & so's son or daughter will work in a pinch, or we can make even more money if we cast one of Will Smith's or Tom Cruises kids, blah blah, blah....

This whole family is very strange!

UHMMMMM.... The ARQUETTES... PLURAL. It's the same thing as the Osmonds, well with a little more crossdressing but you get the point. The entire family is in the industry, it's not the same as Billy Ray pimping out chipmunks in tank tops.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It's not like they didn't try to cast someone else in the part, but they couldn't find anyone and they were in a bind, so she asked him to do it. If family members are in a position to help one another out, then they should. They shouldn't let the fear of the appearance of impropriety stop them, particularly if it's the right thing to do. In this case, he was right for the role, so why not cast him? And he's naturally talented like his mother, no surprise.
