I have NEVER heard of anyone doing this before and I think it is absolutely wild BUT I can see how it could be effective too! I can't wait for you to read how Rosario Dawson's mother used to "punish" her.

a) she's not ugly, b) while i would never do it myself (licking under the armpit would be a punishment for *me*), i can see how it'd be effective, and c), you don't know her mother (i'm assuming), so you have no right to call her that.

LOL - too funny. At least it worked and she had a mother who would discipline her when required. When you don't discipline, you end up the the kind of children who are running around today. They are not afraid of authority and and little or no manners.
My mother used to tell my siblings and I "I brought you into the world, I can take you out." and we would laugh. However, as a parent it makes sense now.
Myself, I am a fan of the nose flick. It worked great to cure my teenage daughter of her little swearing issue at home. A little flick to the nose was all it took. :-)
Calling that abuse is absolutely ridiculous.
In fact, it is abusive that people abuse the word abuse by claiming something is abuse or abusive when it is clearly not.

actually, i have licked my kids (but only on the cheek or nose)! its quick, catches the person by surprise and is usually quite effective in ending an argument rather quickly!
my son is almost 15 & towers over me. . .the other day he was hollering about something ridiculous and I bent over (he was sitting at the time), licked him on the cheek and walked out of the room without saying a word. about 10 minutes later he came over to me and apologized. see. . .effective!
My mom used to do the same thing. Not often, and with a bit of "I'm bigger than you so do as I say" humorous way about her. I hated it, but she got her point across and it worked =P Anything cant be seen as abuse, but some things are just.. creative and good parenting =P

I think the people that think that is "abuse" are the people that dont dicipline their children at all.
