Fact Or Fiction: Lauren Conrad Leaving "The Hills"

Fact Or Fiction: Lauren Conrad Leaving "The Hills"

Although the source for this is pretty reliable (The Hills producer, Liz Gately), I'm still categorizing it as "fact or fiction" because it seems like we've heard this before.  Like, for every season the show has aired.  Yet, the fact that it did come from the producer made it seem noteworthy to me.

She announced that this fifth season will mark Lauren Conrad's final appearance on the reality show.

Liz Gately says Conrad wants to move forward and lead a more private
life
. Gately plans to give the 23-year-old fashion designer a big
send-off, and is evaluating how to continue with the show following
Conrad's departure. "

I can certainly see where life in the fishbowl of reality TV would get old.  Really old.  And I'm thinking that Lauren has probably gotten all she needs out of doing The Hills, both financially and in terms of building a public image for herself, to pursue other endeavors (her fashion line, novels, etc).

Yet how can the show go on without the star?  Do you think Heidi and Spencer will take over?  Would MTV actually let this wildly successful show end?  Or could Lauren be persuaded to return... with say, a hefty financial incentive?

What do you think: is this fact (or just fact for right now) or fiction?

i'm gonna go with fact on this one because i thought i read an interview with her somewhere & she said she was done. it would be weird if they continue it w/o her tho.

Who cares. I saw the show for about 2 minutes and this was too long for me. I'll stick to quality shows like History and Discovery channels and C-Span.

This is old news. Lauren said this was the last season in an interview a few weeks ago. Also the ratings have been going down the last couple of years. So if the show ends I wouldn't be surprised. Odds are the show will continue without Lauren.
