Spice Girl Mel C Debuts Her Baby!

Former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm just posted this adorable photo of her new baby girl, Scarlet on her MySpace page. How absolutely sweet!

Guess she opted not to do the huge magazine spread for the first release.

Here is the first official photograph of Melanie C and daughter Scarlet.
Melanie is happy for a picture to be released as she knows her fans are eager to see baby Scarlet, and is hopeful that any media interest will be satisfied and future privacy respected.

Which do you prefer? Celebs who do the spread, who publish it on their own, or who don’t publish at all?

I never mind when celebrities do the magazine route – why shouldn’t they get the money the paparazzi are making off taking pictures of them? I’d rather Tori Spelling or Gwen Stefani have the $$ than any of the sociopathic thugs at x17 or tmz. Or those asses who were taking pictures of Halle and Nahla in her backyard.

But also? Melanie totally sold these pictures – it’s an exclusive in Hello in the UK. Where I bet there are even more. I’ve already seen pics of the cover. Maybe you should correct your story.

I can’t stand the magazine spread. It’s tacky and makes them look self-involved. “You can see my baby, but you’re going to have to pay for it”. I don’t care if the money goes to charity, those are your children. They are not celebrities and did not choose to be in the spotlight.

Wow, that is one adorably beautiful baby

Cute baby! I prefer when they do it on their own. I’m nosy and want to see the babies but I’m happy when the parents don’t pimp the kid out.

Haha she apparently did take “Girl Power” to heart — it says “Female power” on her arm in Chinese.

you have to get the feeling that they are just so seven-heaven-happy that they just want to share the excitement instead of wanting to cash in some extra money. if they are uberhappy but want to keep all private, that is just fine, too.

i use the word “just” just too often ;P

Donating the proceeds from the photo is a great way to share your experience and help others, and its also helps appease the pap manhunt for the first shot.

Cute baby! I think this is way classier than some magazine photo spread. J-lo and Christina Aguilera’s over the top photo shoots come to mind.

I think it’s cute when they just post a photo on their own, shows how excited they are. The big spreads seem greedy and sometimes barely show the baby anyway (I think it was Aguilera’s shoot that you could barely see Max in).

it is great to see that there are celebs who dont sell out their children. i like it that way. the kids will be seen anyway. so why do not put a picture on the blog without taking money. i think it is great.

All stars complain about lack of privacy at some point – and it is fair because there is only so much life you can live in the media glare. But, when they sell out baby pictures, it does appear to me that they are auctioning off thier children’s privacy to the highest bidder – for whatever reason (seriously, charity is bunkum – most celebs keep a hefty amount of it for themselves, and offer up a token sum for charity.)

Children should be protected by their parents, not pimped out. It is okay to have pictures taken when out shopping or picnicking, or even to release a picture on your fansite. Not okay to sell to mags and invite media glare.
