Wes Craven Wants No Part Of Nightmare On Elm Street Remake

Me NEITHER!

That was my favorite horror movie growing up. I mean FAVORITE. I would watch them over and over again with my cousin until our mothers ripped us away from the television set.

And now it's being remade - like every other movie known to man.

Well, Wes Craven says he wants no part of the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. It's a classic that should just be left alone.

That'd be a tough one to re-see… If you move on from the films you've made - which I have tried always to move on - then it's like, ‘That's in the past. It's had his life.’

"If they make a better film, maybe it will eclipse the original. I don't know. If they don't, then the original will look even better."

"I guess now they're (studio bosses) moving towards remakes rather than sequels, because, at some point, you can't justify another sequel - but you can remake the original, because the audiences have gone through two or three generations."

It should be 4 or 5 generations. I hate seeing movies remade that I saw in the theatre. What do you think about this new trend in Hollywood?

End of rant. Sorry.

I will not watch any Nightmare on Elm Street movie without the indelible Robert Englund as Freddy. No way, no how, NO THANKS!

nope, not neccessary to the movie world.
i have to think about how all the celebs we see and write about on this and other site are also nothing but re-makes. every couple years or sometimes every year ther is a new brit. when you have already spent five years or more on watching them one can see a lot of baaaad re-makes.

It's kind of like the band complex. They have to appease the masses by playing the same commercial songs and identical setlist because people are apparently terrified of anything different. The majority of shows on television are raping each other for ideas and it's all the same sh1t. You can watch a great band perform with genuine talent and originality, and someone will still yell "FREEBIRD!" Sad sad world.

AGREED!

Which reminds me, a remake I'd LOVE to see is that old Sci-fi mini series "V". Do you remember it?
Robert England was in that as well, your post reminded me of it, and a show that had a great cast, great premise, but no budget or technology for special effects that it deserved. - Mandi

LAME...in most cases.

But when I heard they are remaking The Dark Crystal and The Neverending Story, I have to admit, I got a little excited!!
Those were favorites from my childhood and if they do them justice, maybe they will add new appeal to the films. - Mandi
