Jada Pinkett Smith Opening Another School

Will Smith caused some controversy when he opened up a school based on teaching methods from Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. But apparently things are going well enough that the Smith family is going to continue their foray into the education system.
Will's school goes from pre-kinder through 6th grade. Jada Pinkett Smith wants to open up a high school.
Pinkett Smith says she decided to open the elementary school after developing a home-school program for her children.
What do you think about celebs getting into the business of education?

Can someone please explain to me how they can just open a school and teach what they want? That doesn't seem like it should be legal.
Private schools can do whatever they want. Money talks.
I have a huge problem with religion in schools anyway, and I don't even want to get started on the religion of Scientology! Bad idea all around!
Polly, I agree with you-- I can't stand the smith family-- they act, dance, sing, now they have a school, which seems so ridiculous to me.
What the hell does jada know about schooling anyways?? Is it based on her children?? I mean, what the hell? we all know her kids ain't goin' to college, coz they will act like daddy and momma-- they're already doing this anyways...
What douche's. How about starting after school programs or something. Do go and build your own school. Some of the celebs have way to much and time on their hands. I am not a fan of Angelina Jolie but at least she puts her money to good use. Ridiculously stupid. Will Smith is the next Tom Cruise. His career is going in the tanker.

Wow instead of opening a school why didn't they donate to a struggling school district? I doubt their schools are free.

'Another sciento school for riches? Lame.' -- TRUE THAT!
wow, now i find them extremely creepy.
how can seemingly intelligent people be such fools.
I don't consider Hollywood celebrities the most educated bunch around so I don't favor them opening schools.
Yeah - exactly, why not donate to schools that could use it - or build community centers for art and music programs. But that would be too normal and we all know these Scientology nuts are not normal. I know the Smiths claim they aren't Scientologists - but you know Cruise has their going clear tapes (or whatever crackpot thing they do as part of their extremely expensive "religious" practice they commit) - so he can blackmail them to do whatever.
Just boycott Tom Cruise, KatE, John Travolta and Will Smith films. I haven't seen any of their films for last few years. (Saw Cruise in Magnolias - but he wasn't the star and in fact didn't realize he was being mocked by the director. Last film I saw of Wil Smith was Men in Black. Okay, caught Travolta in Hairspray, but just on a movie channel and only for a few minutes. Only one I actually miss watching).

just watch them uploaded on the internet. this way those scientos don't see a penny from it.
i'm very disappointed in the smiths because i used to enjoy the movies they make but with that background now? no, thank you.
Absolutely they shouldn't open a school because the schools already established are doing SOOOO well. And they really shouldn't try to do anything different from what's already been done. Only Catholic and Prostestant and Lutheran and Baptist religions should be allowed to open schools like the prestigious Oral Roberts University. Everyone should just sit around and let all children fail so that we can speed head long into anarchy. Celebrities shouldn't do anything but sit around and look pretty and smile for the cameras so instead of complaining about how they're involved we can complain about how NOT involved they are. And shame on the Smith family for singing and acting and dancing and participating in society. They shouldn't have any talent at all....like everyone from The Hills. Now THERE'S a group of people to look up to! Go Heidi and Spencer!
I agree with the last comment. I don't agree with Scientology, but I do agree that parents should have the right to raise their children as they see fit. As long as their children are meeting or surpassing educational standards, why is anyone against that? Let's be open-minded. Many of the great inventors, scientists, and forefathers of our country were schooled by unconventional methods. I applaud anyone who is involved in their childrens' lives.
The fact that they're celebrities doesn't take away from who they are as parents, citizens, etc. They sound well-rounded. I think the problem is that in our society, individuals don't think for themselves anymore. Come up with some so-called "off the wall" ideas... please. Let's do something different. Everyone thought it was so great when Obama shouted "Change...change!" Don't you agree that we need change?
