First Look: Drew Barrymore In Grey Gardens

Oh my word! Is THAT Drew Barrymore? LOL! It actually took me a second to figure out which actor she was in that opening scene.

E! Online posted the new trailer for Grey Gardens, a remake of the1970s campy classic which also stars Jessica Lange.

Based on the life stories of the eccentric aunt and first cousin of Jackie Kennedy (both named Edith Bouvier Beale aka "Big and Little Edie") raised as Park Avenue débutantes but who withdrew from New York society, taking shelter at their Long Island summer home, "Grey Gardens." As their wealth and contact with the outside world dwindled, so did their grasp on reality. They were reintroduced to the world when international tabloids learned of a health department raid on their home, and Jackie swooped in to save her relatives.

What do you think? Something you would consider watching?

Ive been watching reviews and previews on this since last year. It looks very interesting, especially since it has already been a documentary. It is so rare to get such an inside glimpse into the personal lives of such a family, that it almost feels like snooping. Yet, this is also a part of history, a true story, a real LOVE story between a mother and daughter. Im looking forward to seeing it. Om Peace!

I am a huge fan of the true Little Edie and all things Grey Gardens. I have goosebumps from watching just the snippet of Drew as Little Edie. As others have said, I didn’t think she had it in her, I couldn’t imagine anyone playing the role, I wasn’t sure anyone ever should play that role, but wow just the little bit I saw–she has really captured Little Edie. Only seeing the entire film will totally convince me, but I am excited. Problem is, I canceled hbo to save a little dough…what to do what to do.

This is the first I’ve heard of this movie but I will definitely watch it!

  4. I am one of the photographers who met Edie back in 1979. I took some great historical and personal photos of Edie. See my website at islandbreezearts.com
I thought Drew really pulled it off!

I was very hesitant about this movie as I am a huge fan of the originals. That said, Drew Barrymore is astounding in the preview. I didn’t think she had it in her to play Little Edie, but perhaps she does. I will definatley see the movie unless it gets totally trashed by the critics.
