Due to release May 26, MandyMoore.com has officially released the look of the singer’s upcoming album. What do you think of the cover for Amanda Leigh? She looks great doesn’t she?!
If you want, you can pre-order the album from iTunes or hear a sample of her music online. Click here to visit.
Mandy also put up her first blog entry on the new site and talked about putting together a band for show appearances. Here is an excerpt:
We’re also in the process of putting a band together for some shows, TV appearances, online "things" and what have you… I am just beyond ready to for this record to find it’s way out in the world. Viola and I will be doing some acoustic gigs in the coming weeks but the band is definitely going to be the focus, with a plan to hopefully tour late summer.
The song, "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day Of The Week" is coming out tomorrow (March 17) on iTunes. It’s definitely a pop-ditty but more in vein of Todd Rundgren or Harry Nilsson than the typical fare the word "pop" tends to conjure up . Later this week, we’re making what we hope will be a pretty amazing video with my ever-creative friend David Schlussel. He came up with the crazy concept and will be at the helm of all of the chaos (thank goodness….i’ve wanted to work with him for a long time). I’ll be sure to keep you updated once it’s in the can.
Will you purchase this album? Are you a Mandy Moore fan? I’ve also added her to my list of celebrities who Twitter because… well, she twitters.

Okay…
I love the album. You guys could sneak peak at every track on her site. mandymoore.com or myspace.com/mandymoore. It is complete.
I love how she cross over in music. She experiments each of her album. From pop, pop-folk, indie, pop-rock, and her soulful voice.
When she released Wild Hope, I could say that it was the most amazing album she’d ever released. And I was blown away in every track track.
I’m happy for her. The new album looks great and sounds great. I don’t know what to think of the marriage and it’s a little bizarre, to say the least. There’s something not right there. I love the lettering on the album cover and that awesome close-up pic. Can’t wait for Amanda Leigh.
I will start by saying my litte 11 year old niece made me go to a mall in 1999 and tape Mandy Moore’s concert. Ychhhhh. Candy was the big hit. It was what it was, pop fluff for kids. She was 14 or 15 at the time, which I was impressed with.
Flash forward to 2003 and my friend had bought Coverage and since it covered songs as far back as when I was in my teens, I bought it and liked it a lot. I liked it enough to buy Wild Hope. That album killed me. It was unbelievably well written and you could feel Mandy’s emotions throughout the entire cd. Nothing You Are hit me like a ton of bricks as was so powerful. After one listen, every song left an impression on me.
Amada Leigh is a different story. I couldnt wait to hear it and I put it on my MP3 player last night and took a nice stroll. It was, hmmm, odd. I am a musician and all I have to say is that it is too complex, musically, to really enjoy. Whereas she might have left a few of her original fans in the dust with the last release, she is really doing it here. The songs are interesting from a musical point of view. It had me thinking hard about what was going on with the odd timings, weird instruments, complex harmonies. I compare this to what Brian Wilson did after the Beach Boys Pet Sounds. Sure, that was a great album but the Smile LP was so weird, they never released it. I went to bed and not one one song was in my head.
Even the upbeat songs have odd arrangements. It certainly isnt pop friendly in these times but that doesnt mean it is not good. It just seems like Mandy, er, Amanda Leigh is not concerned with commercial success and is doing whatever she wants to be accepted among real musicians. Either way, it is, if nothing else, a very complex, well written collection of songs but it may be a bit too over thought for most listeners. I will gamble to say that is cd will be a commercial flop. I hope I am wrong but when you are going up against crap like If You Seek Amy”, or “Poker Face”. she may be in trouble.
What I cannot picture is Amanda sitting around the house with a guitar writing this stuff. It is almost as if she got Frank Zappa (may he rest in Peace) to come by and write songs to see how weird they can get and still have an angelic beautiful voice singing over the music. The instrumentation sounds somewhere between a circus and broadway plays at times.
I listened to the songs again today and some of them were in my memory and I seemed to like more than I did on my walk last night. I wish her luck. It is a very produced cd (almost the opposite of Wild Hope) that may go over most fans heads but I know I will like it because I like her and most of what she has done this decade.
i just googled her and found out she is only 24 years old. it feels like she is in the public eye for ages. wiki says she started 1999 that would make it ten years. that incredible.
Her Wild Hope album was surprisingly good.
I think she’s the perfect example of someone who did it right. She has progressed wonderfully and respectably from teen pop into her own self. She comes across as mature, intelligent, and credible. She actually took the time to listen to different kinds of music and learn some musical history. I say good for her and will totally give her a listen.
Gorgeous! I LOVE her Wild Hope album. It was refreshing and new. Im def getting this album.
What’s with celebs having alter egos? Sasha Fierce, anyone?
Amanda Leigh is her real name. Mandy Moore was a stage name the teen pop record company handlers gave her when she started out as a kid. It looks like she may be trying to transition back to her real name, now that she’s an adult.
She’s 24??? Wow, you’re right, it does seem like she’s been here for ages
is it me, or does the way “mandy moore” desplayed on the cover, kinda looks liek a diagonal, mandy, no moore?
rather, a “mandy no *more”
I’ve heard a few of the songs on this album (thank you youtube) and it sound very mature and very mellow. I love the track “Love to Love Me Back”; check it out if you can. There’s also another song, “I Don’t Know Baby,” which I think will be a b-side that is awesome.
Molly Mae, I totally agree with your assessment of Mandy. I think because she’s always been the least well-known of the blond popstar quartet (along with Britney, Christina & Jessica) she’s had more freedom to experiment with her sound and her career and she’s made some very intelligent choices. I love the way she is growing as a performer (she’s great live), and I hope she’s able to stick around for a long time. We need intelligent pop music out there.
Actually, her given name was Amanda Leigh Moore, but she has always gone by Mandy. The new CD sounds great and I can’t wait to hear “Moore” of it!
