Boy! Nowadays, if something works on television - they beat it with a stick until it's dead. How many states are we up to now?
Bravo has announced ANOTHER Real Housewives reality show and YES I will be watching.
This time it's New Jersey.
Series premiers in May. Until then, People has a quick summary on each woman.
Jacqueline Laurita: A former cosmetologist, she is now a stay-at-home mom, but still loves to pamper herself. She has a teenage daughter from her previous marriage and a 6-year-old son with her husband Chris, who owns wholesale apparel businesses and is brother to Caroline and Dina.
Teresa Giudice: Born and raised in New Jersey, her husband Joe owns a successful construction company. Together they have three young daughters, who take up much of her time. A friend of Dina and Caroline, she also loves to shop, get spa treatments and spend time at her beach house on the Jersey Shore.

Danielle Staub: “You either love me or you hate me, there is no in between,” says the single mom of two daughters. She prides herself as one of the first female American Express Black card members in New Jersey. She is also active in her local parish and regularly attends mass. She and Jacqueline are friends.
Dina Manzo: Founder of the nonprofit Project Ladybug, which helps children with cancer, she’s also an interior designer, an event planner, mother and best friends with her sister Caroline. Her husband Albert works with his brother (Caroline’s husband) at their family’s catering business.
Caroline Manzo: She’s a mother of three and own a real estate firm and a line of children’s accessories. Described as a “feisty spitfire,” she’s Dina’s sister and is on the board of Project Ladybug. She’s married to Albert Manzo, brother of Dina’s husband Tommy. Dina and Caroline’s brother is Jacqueline’s husband Chris.

After watching Theresa's dinner scene I am saddened by the behavior of all the women except Jacyln and her husband (not sure of spelling not that it really matters) are a cut above this nonsense and reinfornced my belief that there are decent, honest, caring parents and I wish them the best with the news of the new child and their lives.

When I think of Jersey (I live outside of Philly, Jersey is about a 30 min drive from my house, I have tons of family that live there) I dont think of The Sopranos Jersey. I think of the majority of Jersey thats dirty, poor, and unsafe. Before I get all the rude comments, I realize most places are like this. I was just shocked to see 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey', Jerseys the last place I thought the show would go to next.
Ok Anonymous the majority of New Jersey is not poor, dirty and unsafe. Since you live near Philly (btw the murder capital) you are near the poor and unsafe area's of New Jersey like Camden. The majority of New Jersey is beautiful, full of farmland and suburbs. I mean people would be very surprised to see all the natural beatuty NJ has to offer. I have lived in New Jersey all my life and there are extremely wealthy people living in New Jersey. New Jersey has one of the best educational systems in the country. I know everyone's impression of NJ come from the NJ turnpike the main highway North to South because it cuts through the most industrial part of Jersey and the Sopranos but the state is great. Also the state is waaaaaaaaaaay more diverse that is usually seen on TV. I'm not sure if the Housewives of NJ will show the diversity since they all seem to be related.
Hi -Ms I live 30 mins outside Philly, I'm a New Yorker and as one, know how affluent these parts of Jersey can be. These people, while louder and more street smart are still millionaires. You are from Trashville, NJ and every state in the US has trash, just like NYC with some unforgettable projects that would put South Philly to shame.

I live in this town. It is one of the most affluent, beautiful towns in the country. Ha! I think all of these comments are funny. Every state has its slums. Here in NJ we do have wealthy areas and excellent school systems. I couldn't agree more with the anonymous at 9:49. Our school systems are top notch. I happen to live in one of those areas...not a millionaire, but a hard worker who isn't in jeopardy of foreclosure. As a matter of fact I don't think there are any homes in my town/towns (since there are two in one) here that are in that situation. All people are doing is stereo typing. NYC has very dangerous areas and projects. So does Atlanta and California... I'm not saying NJ is perfect, it's not. We breed very unique people here, but we are not trashy either! I guess we just have to wait and see it for ourselves.
I find it really humorous how most of the people dubbing the state of New Jersey as "trashy", "low-class", "poor", and "dirty" are most likely not from here or have never even been here. I have lived In Bergen County, located in Northern New Jersey metropolitan area (also where this film is to be filmed i.e. Franklin Lakes) my whole entire life. Just like every other state, country, or town, there's your affluent, you middle class, and your lower/working classes. Much of Bergen County, Morris County, Monmouth County, Essex County (with the exception of Newark etc.), Sussex County, and Hunterdon County are quite affluent. Not everyone here is a millionaire, but there are many "millionaires next-door" type people. I myself take pride from spawning from such WASP roots. Also, the difference between Orange County and Bergen County, as well as Atlanta, is that Atlanta and OC are typical pathetic nouveau riche, or, new money. Here in the Northeast, there's more old money, WASPy families, and traditions of the wealthy. Half of the people judging our state are from racist southern states and boring nowherevilles of the midwest. I personally feel that the south is disgusting, white trash, confederate babbling, uneducated, feeble minded incestuous pigs. The south has the worst schools, most high rates of uneducated people and more poverty. There's way more culture and education available up here then down in the "makes me want to throw up" south. The one lady Dina Manzo was on that show Platinum Weddings. It was crazy. Her husband is this big caterer. They spent like over a million dollars on their wedding. The guy seemed like a real jerk.

I'm from New Jersey, About 5 minutes away from the atlantic city boardwalk, where they're at. They don't even live around that area. So I doubt it's going to be good. I read something about only one of them being born and raised in New Jersey? Doesn't make sense, shouldn't they all be born and raised here?
North Jersey is where it gets trashy, South Jersey is where it's nice. There is alot of trashy parts here but that is in every state. There is more beautiful cities and beachtowns then trashy though. They remind me of the soprano's show. And I've never said that about anyone I've met in my 18 years of living here, unless theyre shoobies comming down in the summer to infest my beaches! One of them has a shore home ? Well they're vacation is my life. I can see the beach if I walk outside. This show will probably be dumb. Orange County one is the best so far !!!!!

I do not live in NJ, I live in the Mid West and have visited NJ quite a bit on business.
I don't like the east coast so it's nothing particular about NJ. They could not print enough money for me to live in NY, NJ, MA, NH, VT, CT, RI etc. Just not the life for me. Just like the mid west is not the life for many others.
That being said I saw the preview and BRAVO casting must have had a directive to pick the most stereotypical group of NJ women on the planet. When Teresa said her husband Joe worked in construction I nearly fell over!! He has the pinky ring, and the whole get up I wondered if anyone had asked him about Hoffa's whereabouts!!
Dina good Lord, I understand that you are powerful and bitchy and if you were a man they would call you a maverick. I do not criticize that. It just seems like that personality combined with being the baby of the family equals bitch on wheels all of the time. Good Lord must it be flaunted?? So if you don't like what you see, turn the channel go back to the OC and or whack broke ATL (as we know they have NOOOO money). The only one who had any real money in ATL was DeShawn and they booted her off the show.

I went to a college with 50% of undergrads from Jersey, the rest from north of Jersey. I was very scared that I wouldn't be able to keep up with all the private school kids. After four years I can honestly say I was just as educated in my PUBLIC schools, or in some cases better, than the Jersey private school kids - great for me because they paid me to re-write their papers and help them with math homework. This was not usually the case with the kids from CT & MA. To be fair I think most NJ kids were 'new money' because they were truly amazed that my parents & grandparents had college degrees from the 50's & 20's; maybe because most of the NJ kids grandparents were born in another country? So it didn't surprise me like it did my DH that Caroline put so little importance on her children going to college, even though she can clearly afford to send them.
I loved my NJ roommate and friends, but to be honest people from the NE as a whole don't think of other people's 'feelings' in their day-to-day life as much as the people I grew up with. Not insulting, just pointing out a difference. As far as culture, the NJ people did not want to go with the rest of us that used our allowances to go to the theater, ballet, museums. They’d go to the rock concerts with us. As far as shopping, they all looked in my closet like it was alien because where I grew up we dressed like adults (business casual) in high school; jeans on Fridays. They laughed at the amount of shoes I brought; but then they would ask me where to go shopping when they needed something.
I've visited NJ many times because my aunt lived there for almost 40+ years (before that it was Long Island). She has an amazingly strange accent mix of old deep south with NJ twang! There is a whole range of people in NJ, just like any other state, including those in the South. RHOATL just verified that the people on these shows are representing a small percentage of their cities! I just watch for the crazy drama, which you're not going to get with true 'real housewives'! Nobody with any real class or culture would be on one of these shows, at least nobody in the South. We teach our children that only the newly rich people from uneducated families talk about their money or houses or cars or neighborhoods and that it is just ‘bad manners’. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover; the richest man I’ve worked for (billionaire) wore a Timex to work! ?

No one with class talks about their money or display their lives on the TV screen to be watched and criticized. Rather, they stay in hiding from public view and scrutiny. Anyone who displays their lives on Television to be watched and scrutinized as with the current trend is classless, it is like watching Jerry Springer in real live HDTV lol. I must admit, I love the drama so I watch. These shows are like teasers to me. Like my husband says you keep your mouth shut and what you are worth to yourself and forget everyone else. The way the current life trend in society is, we should all want everything in our lives to be private especially since the internet pushes our public persona out there along with government officials’ ability to breach our privacy. People, what is old money and what is new money? Show some class and some using these terminologies in your vocabulary. Money does not buy you happiness, being surrounded with other who love, respect and care about you is more important. We all breathe the same air, eat similar foods, our body systems function similarly even with the diseases we acquire, we exist this world like everyone else though differently. Poor are rich, we were all pushed out of a vagina and carried in the stomach of a woman, sperm help to make us living breathing beings. Maybe if individuals come down to earth and recognize this fact then we would focus so much less on money and status. Wake up, money, class, status, religion and politics do not define us because we cannot take them to the grave, neither can they make us healthy for the rest of our lives. There are many poor aboriginal people in this world who are living much better than the wealthy and they are fighting nowadays to utilize their secrets to long life and happiness. Be blessed and living in harmony, peace and happiness. No one should care about which state has more money, old money or new money or where their slums are located and how much more slums they have versus another. WAKE UP!!!!!! I hate to tell the girls on real housewives but Franklin Lakes is nice but it's not Alpine or Bay Head, Spring Lake or Bernardsville! They need to get over themeselves the one who says she has a beach house at the shore is a dump in Staffford Township! Actually i think its a trailer on a lagoon.
