Lauren Conrad’s Fashion Line “On Hiatus”

On hiatus?!? What does that even mean? They make it sound like she’ll start it up again when the economy’s better. Or is this just a nicer way for them to phase her out?

Lauren Conrad has just announced that all shipments of the most recent season of the Lauren Conrad Collection have been suspended. Vendors received the following message from her camp:

"In light of the economic climate, Lauren has decided to completely
rethink her line.
" As a result, shipment of the last spring and summer
delivery has been canceled, the memo said.

So…she’s going more couture.

"Lauren is going to revamp her line and design with more high-end
fabrics . . . things she couldn’t do the first time around," a source
close to Conrad said. Her rep told us, "With everything going on in the
economy and in her life, she wants to rework her line and offerings.
She will make announcements soon.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to do a cheaper line…maybe something for Target? Lauren has had enough trouble selling her clothes with the price line they’re at (simple dresses for $250). I guess she is looking to reach into the next level of the market, people who aren’t hurting from the recession. But I just wonder how well that’s really going to go since her audience is mostly teens.

I agree, it would make sense to target her younger audience and hopefully grow with them as they age and her styles change. It seems foolish to go high end right now

I think she is really striving to break free form her young fans and the Hills era completely. So sad as its what made her

i guess teens dont have 250$ for clothes who look cheap!!!

I have to admit I do find her clothes really nice! Love almost all of it. Still I doubt I’d spend that much money on them. I like going through to look for inspirations, though…

C’mon, let’s all admit: her “fashion” line is an insult to every fashion student/designer walking on the surface of earth. And her website is an insult to every web designer.

no one cared about her first attempt to have a clothing line. I dont call her clothes “Fashion” because putting threats together and giving it your name doesnt make it fashion. I hope quietly all these useless people go away.

Whitney has a fashion line out? Depression or not, she shouldn’t just take her fashions out of stores. What if people wants to buy them, if I was her, I would keep her fashion line in stores, so she can make money. Actually, I like her clothes!
