Bethenny Frankel Has Advice For Oprah

Bethenny Frankel Has Advice For Oprah

Bethenny Frankel wants to pass on a little advice to the queen of advice herself...Oprah. Now that the Real Housewife of New York has been able to lose weight and keep it off, she says she can revolutionize anyone's diet, even Oprah's.

"I don't even work out that much - maybe two days a week if I can."

"Women in America are going to be thinner because of this book," she says. Even Oprah Winfrey
-- who recently admitted she weighed 200 pounds recently "is going to
be thinner," Frankel claims. "Nobody needs to freak out anymore."

And below are her four rules. They're actually really sensible and easy to follow. Hmm, maybe I'll be picking this book up, what about you?

1. Your Diet Is a Bank Account. "Eating should be treated
like a bank account - if one day you decide that you want to have
chocolate cake for breakfast, you can, because there's no 'No,' but you
need to account for it. If you spend in one place, you need to save in
another."

2. The Differential. "In the differential, you can have
turkey chili and meat chili. To me, the differential between the two
isn't that big. I would just as soon have turkey chili as I would meat
chili. But there's a huge differential for me between a piece of plain
grilled chicken breast and a fatty piece of New York steak. Go for it
when the differential is really great to you."

3. The Point of Diminishing Return. "For example, if you
order fried calamari, you taste it, it's delicious, have another bite,
dip it in the sauce, it's delicious, but then there's a point where
it's as good as it's ever going to get. And that's when you stop."

4. Downsize. "We have unrealistic portions in this country
and you can order an appetizer as your main course. No matter if you're
eating broccoli or fried chicken - it's good to get into the habit of
leaving a little."

I wonder if this quote will land her on the Oprah show :)

The whole portion control thing is spot on! That's my food vice... it's so easy to just pile it onto the big plate! That's why I eat off salad plates.

If you work out you can eat whatever you want. Why bother will all these stupid little games that backfire in the end? Just hit the weights and carido and think before you stuff your pie hole full of crap. Dieting and b.s. gimmicks are just that...b.s. I would much rather be able to enjoy some baked ziti and pizza and work hard to keep my figure then play little games. Without developing muscle you will eventually start to gain weight as you age, unless your into fitness its inevitable. And if no one ever thought of these ideas before then you deserve to be fat, these are not even ideas they are common freakin sense.

Why do so many people think this?! You can't work off everything you eat when you are eating big macs, donuts and drinking coke and lattes from Starbucks. There is not enough time in the day to work that off.
I honestly don't get why people think you just need to work out. Working out is about 20% of it.

Thank you! I agree with you, diet is the key...exercise is only about 20% of it. If someone is able to eat anything they want and just exercise it off then they are more genetically gifted then most of us. They should count their blessings. For them to assume that is all anyone needs to do to be thin is, however, pretentious of them. I used to exercise my rear off and I did not eat junk food. The weight, however, did not come off because of my obsessive behavior. I was not listening to my body and my metabolism suffered. I started implementing B's rules and my body began to respond positively. She is sending out a great message and I commend her for it!

She's absolutely right on the bank account philosophy. It's all a balancing act. Sounds like a great book with good advice!

The portion control is the key.. Eat wahtever you want as long as in small portions. After the 100th bite it aint that good anyway. Add some cardio ..... You're done!

Isn't it weird that this girl Bethenny is giving advice on how to look good while she has massive, deformed breast implants?

I back up the person who said they can just hit the gym regularly and eat whatever they want. I am a good testament to that, however, the person who said portion control is also right...it doesn't mean one bite of a big mac, or stop at one calamari ring. I eat whole big macs, and whole plates of calamari, but maybe once every couple of weeks, not everyday. Eat homemade fresh foods (a nice pasta, a good sandwich, a big bowl of oatmeal) sensibly/regulary, and eat "bad" foods occasionally, and no dieting is needed.

She is ripping off weight watchers' diet. They have the same strategy which has been successfully helping women and men loss weight (and keeping it off for years). Don't buy her book, just go to a meeting and you will not only benefit from years of doctors reseach you will get the support anyone needs to really make a life change.
I started again three weeks ago (to loss the baby weight from #2) and I have already lost 9 pounds. I am able to track all my point on my iPhone with weight watchers mobile.

I can't believe nobody else has commented on how she's name-dropping Oprah just to get publicity. I doubt she's ever met the woman. Got to give it to her though, pretty clever actually.

I agree with the same as Weight Watchers comment, but old ideas are repackaged all the time and resold so this is nothing new. Again, pretty clever. What's that old comment about selling the sizzle and not the steak??? We consumers are tricked all the time.

She is spoofing off WW... although, WW does work, but it cuts your calories WAY low!!! Down to potentially 1,000/day. That's not healthy (unless you're eating your 0pt veggies).

You can workout and eat whatever you want sparingly. And some just have a better metabolism and were born with a good body to begin with. Those of us with excess weight need to be more diligent with food. The "account balance" idea is good if you don't want to pay the $12/week for WW. If you eat a Big Mac at lunch you need a healthier, lower cal dinner, like a chicken salad with lite dressing. It's not hard to do it - it's just determination and desire.

This is NOTHING new, as usual...Awhile ago I read about the "bank account" thing somewhere else & that is exactly how they phrased it. This is all common sense to anyone who has ever read diet tips in the past....#3 The Point of Diminishing Return is the theory that the first 3 bites of any food are the best & for desserts & fattening stuff thats all you need.
She just wants to get on Oprah.
I know lots of people who work out regularly who still cant just eat what they want...If that works for people then eating what they want differs drastically from the people it doesnt work for...its all relative. For example: My husbands grandmother is about 95 pounds soaking wet, when someone gets on her for being too thin, she says she eats & she does, she eats salad & fresh fruit & vegetables & lean meats & seafood & all kinds of healthy stuff... In her mind she is eating & she is, but nothing that is going to really put weight on her.
