Kim Kardashian Responds To Untouched Photo Furor

Here's a recap for those of you who are wondering, what furor? Kim Kardashian did a photoshoot for Complex Magazine. Complex Magazine then posted the un-photoshopped version of one picture on their website. This apparently caused an internet furor because people could see that (gasp!) Kim has cellulite. Kim responded on her blog.
[Y]ou know what, who cares!
So what: I have a little cellulite. What curvy girl doesn't!?
How many people do you think are photoshopped? It happens all the time!"
It's always refreshing to hear someone state the obvious, isn't it? Why in the world would the idea that Kim (or any other woman, for that matter) has cellulite even be a surprise?
I'm
proud of my body and my curves and this picture coming out is probably
helpful for everyone to see that just because I am on the cover of a
magazine doesn't mean I'm perfect. You can check out more behind-the-scenes pics from the shoot right here. And they’re not retouched!"
Good for her! Have we honestly become so warped in our thinking about women's bodies that we believe these magazine photos are accurate? It's not like photoshopping is some secret process!
Here are the pictures, if you want to see the untouched/photoshopped pictures for yourself. And then can someone please explain what all the fuss is about?

in this day and age there is no cover which hasn't been through a little photoshop surgury. so what? i agree with Kim. It didnt really shock me anyway.

I never really cared for Kim - she's always struck me as a bit of space cadet and I'm not into the reality tv crowd - she's always stood up for her body and I think that's great. She doesn't fit the model of the starved waif rail and never will - and shouldn't have to. I think she looks just fine in the original images.

she's a stunning girl, and she has zero reason to be self conscious. photos like the ones you posted on this page right here aren't photoshopped I'm assuming, and she looks amazing! I think there are a ton of girls out there who would LOVE to look like her unphotoshopped picture. Too much fuss for nothing over that pic...
I can't stand Kim, but I agree with her. Every woman has a little cellulite, and if you say no, you're lying!

This is probably the 1st I can say I really like her response, at least she's not denying it (hello, mischa).
wow! they didnt re-touch her face or anything else!
i think that is pretty awesome! if my face was flawless i wouldnt care if i had cellulite...
i wish
They absolutely DID re-touch lots else! Look at her waist, her arms, her coloring. I don't actually think any of the magazines should do this to the models. They are making the big bucks, so they should be shown like they are! Whatever, it's all fake anyway!
I agree with her but why is she famous again?

I didn't know until I was in my 20's that most, if not all women, have visible pores. LOL
Is this a bad time to bring up the whole "size 27 jeans" controversy? Haha.

I think she did a very nice job handling the attention.

Bravo Kim. [and I'm not a fan]. It's refreshing to see anyone in Hollywood that is in the spotlight who has a + body image. I always dismissed her as one of the pile of girls who are famous for nothing at all, but if she keeps sending girls these "love yourself for who you are" messages, I'll become one of her fans.

So your ass is fat... get over it. The photos in real life in natural lighting aren't as bad as the ones with a white/extre light up backdrop. Obviously... natural lighting is somewhat forgiving. Why does anyone feel the need to justify the magazine photos anyway? We know that EVERY SINGLE photo that's in a magazine (cover or not) is photoshopped no matter how pretty or skinny the girl is. Just look at the photos of Jessica Alba (forgot which magazine or advertizement they were for)... beyond photoshopped yet she did NOT need it. For whatever reason they feel the need to photoshop any wrinkle in the fabric even though that's how it's supposed to look. =^_^=
I love how she's care free about it and open about it! I love how she admires her figure and doesn't care about being stick thin like everyone else. Hate her but love her. :)
YOU GO KIM! since when is it okay to pretend like celeb-woman are some kind of super-robots with no flaws. All woman deal with the samen kind of issues, they should support eachoter and say; whats the big deal, im curvy and I like it!
It was not only the cellulite that was touched up. Her legs, arms and waist were made thinner, the sides of her hair line was brought lower and her skin tone was made lighter. Although she is proud of her look, the magazine was not. Then the magazine tried to exploit her... shameful. I'm just glad that women are informed that the perfect images out there are not always real and that they be happy with who they are.
i find her to be a bit of a hypocrite... first of all she seems like she has this " i don't care if i have cellulite , it's no big deal" attitude,, yet she always wear a wrap around her bikini bottom to cover her thighs and cellulite.. she even got treatment for it...
I think that she said the right things and I hope she means them. But if you think about it what else was she going to say to this? Its prefect PR for her is she came out with this statement.
She is very pretty and faboulasa.......good for her, standing up for herself. Shame on the people who call her names. She looks fab on these pictures. All they really did was brighten up the picture and who cares about the thighs, I am sure they do alot more for others. Feel sorry for the people who think people really look the way they look on magazines. Stars have been saying for years that no one is perfect and photos are photoshopped. Keep up the good work KIM...YOU LOOK GREAT!
She did a great job handling this drama. And yes, every photo is photoshopped that you see in a magazine. She's right, what woman doesn't have a little cellulite? And it's not just the "curvy" girls with it, I'm tall and thin, yet I admit I have it too. She's looks great without the photoshopping!

So, women have cellulite. Don't act like none of you knew that ALL magazine covers and such have been photoshopped. Even Kate.
She is so vapid and disgusting. All she does is spend her time getting made up and shoving her fat ass into trashy attire for 'photoshoots'. No redeemable qualities and nothing intelligent to say. A total and complete waste of space. If you dont want to be called fat then work out and stop eating shit. End of story. And not all women have cellulite, I did when I was FAT but now I am skinny and fit and guess what the fuckin nasty cellulite WENT AWAY. WOW. How about that for genius. Lift weights and you will have a beautiful body and NO CELLULITE. Kim is a lazy little pig and her body shows it.
Even skinny girls have cellulitute too sometimes. Plus Kim is not fat at all.
I highly doubt if you were fat before, you got rid of all your cellulitute. Doctors I have heard on tv have said you CAN NOT diet it off!!!!! So there you have it. So get off your high horse.
Wow, what a stupid comment! I've worked out for a long time and weight-trained and unfortunately when it comes to cellulite, it's all about genetics. I will always have a dimply ass just like how you will always be dumb and jealous of Kim because you probably look like a troll.
she is not naturally curvy. stop defending her. she had surgery to look like this. a hot tranny mess.
anon above me is wrong, I am underweight, and I have cellulite. its not to do with BEING fat, its to do with the way women store their fat.
no matter what size you are...fat, skinny, tall, big bone, tiny frame or just right - we all have cellulite - some have more than other...not just curvy women. We all know that every model or actresses have been photoshopped - it's how much it was photoshopped - sometime they go way too far to the point that it doesn't even look like them...remember britney spears for one of her perfume ads??? it looks like a totally different person - now that was ridiculous.

Often thn women have more visible cellulite than heavier women. There is no escaping it. You can run, you can hide, you can deny all you want but it is still going to be there. I really think magazine editors need to sit down and discuss the photoshop issue. What is the point of having a celebrity pose on the cover when they photoshop her so much she doesn't resemble herself, and begins to look like a animated robot?
I could care less about her cover or how much it was photoshopped! I would though, like for Kim at some point to address WHY she is famous. That response would be very ineresting!
So, if you have 14 babies, make a fool out of yourself on a stupid reality show, make a sex tape and RELEASE it and prance up and down Robertson Blvd. then, you too can be famous! It is truly disgusting!
Two tumbs up for that comment!!!
Sorry but comments always sound like 100% jealousy. You've heard of Paris Hilton, right? Why exactly is she famous again? Oh that's right, her family is rich/well known and she had a reality show. Sound familiar?
In case you didn't know, Kim's father was an attorney in the O.J. Simpson trial and her stepdad was one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century. It's not like she is some farmer's daughter from Iowa FFS. I don't even like her, but when someone posts these ignorant comments like WHY IS SHE FAMOUS!11!!!! with so much anger, I gotta point out what a jealous brat they sound like.
Maybe you should ask yourself why you care she is famous? I mean, if you don't care, you wouldn't bother to post, right?

Truth Spoken.
who cares about that! i feel that she is apart of this polemic so she could talk a liitle more about herself you know! She is always trying to show off her body so i guess she likes it so why is she trying to justify herself for! she just loves attention! she must be happy cause she got it now! she still famous for nothing!
It *is* funny because of this... if this had been jessica simpson, jennifer aniston, paris hilton, britney, etc... people would have TRASHED them. All they are really doing with Kim is saying "haha busted" - but it's really like no big deal.
People are weird. I doubt there has been a magazine cover of any celebrity for at least 5 years that has *not* been airbrushed. Why would they think this is any different?
she is famous because of her big huge humongous fat ass.
to all you who are bewildered about why kim is famous...it is because she is absolutely stunning...and the world has seen her face...among other things...so continue to talk trash and bash her...but she is stunning...like mind numbingly beautiful...so there.
Touched/untouched the girl is freaking gorgeous and actually curvy!
I think she looks great. she looks pretty close to the retouched pics! Shes a beautiful woman no doubt about that.
One thing, I have curves and no cellulite!!!!!!!!! It's called muscle tone it helps you not have or get hail damage so please don't try to put "us" in the same lumpy bag as you Kim. I hate it when someone has something wrong with them and in order to make themselves feel better they say WE...No mam I work hard at keeping it this way too!!!
DO you want a medal?
I like Kim... though I would like to date Kourtney, I would be satisfied with Kim. She is beautiful. Full figured. But is it put together in just the right way. And who cares why she if famous. I like looking at pictures of pretty girls. To me she qualifies.
Errr... isn't the point that she goes on about being curvy and proud but then lets herself be photoshopped, thereby becoming one of the idealised beauties she claims to oppose. I'm just saying.
I had my school take my picture for an award. I had to pose literally 11 times. After they found the pic they wanted to use, they added shine to my hair, darkened my face a little, and "erased" where my acne scars were. It looked nice like they wanted it to look, but I know I will never ever look like that. I don't understand why they had to photoshop me; I'm not a celebrity or model.
I was upset that I got cellulite, but the majority of people have it, and I don't show my legs often, so who cares...I really wish mags would stop photoshopping people, they wouldn't look so alien then.
Did anyone else noticed that also tucked in her ears, arm and lips? not to mention the clothing got a new shape too.
WE all know that every pic in mags have this done, ya really think no one has a zit pop up in picture day? or that they don't have goosebumps or pores? umm, right.
even though she didn't ask for it to come out I applaud her post about it. I hope she isn't secretly embarrassed!
Magazines have long perpetuated this idea that not all women have cellulite, and it isn't true. ALL women have cellulite. Seriously- all of them. They did a massive study just a few years ago and found that all women, no matter how thin or fat, have cellulite. It's a natural part of a woman's body. Trying to get rid of it is as silly as trying to get rid of your elbow. They photoshop it out so that advertisers can sell skin creams and "treatments" for cellulite. Don't fall for it.
Listen, for all you ladies out there that keep saying, "I don't have cellulite, because I'm not fat!" Your a fricking joke! Cross your legs a certain way or even grab your arm funny, yep that's right those little indentions are cellulite. EVERY woman has it; and it is because we have 3 layers of fat on top of our muscle. No matter how much you work out, it is still there. If you work out 5 days a week, it MIGHT be less noticeable or it could get worse for some woman. I know this because I am a Personal Trainer, and I say those of you who do NOT know what you are talking about, shouldn't say anything at all. As for Karen not caring about her cellulite and letting everyone know.....Good for her!!! She is a beautiful woman. Our young girls these days need a wake up call, to let them know that these Super Models really don't look like they do in the magazines. I've seen too many woman and young girls push themselves so hard to look like these Super Models that they make themselves sick!! It is completely pointless- the magazines should show woman how they really look, so the rest of us can have a healthy self esteem.
Kim is just HOT no matter what she does
