90210 Leading Man Dustin Milligan Is Leaving The Show
Now this is unusual. According to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, he was told that 90210's second season would be "significantly different" from the first. Having the leading man leave the show would certainly make that statement true, and that is what Ausiello has heard: Dustin Milligan (Ethan) is leaving the show.
'Everyone loves Dustin,' maintains the insider. 'There was just a
feeling that the character had run its course.' (Curiously, the news
comes just days after Milligan's newbie co-star,
Matt Lanter -- a.k.a. bad boy Liam -- confirmed that he was being
promoted to a series regular next season.)"

agreed. dustin may be a cool guy, but ethan is really not much of an interesting character. i think now with liam-- he can shake up a bit more interesting drama.
I'm gonna miss him, but I agree that there wasn't much to him anyway.
saying that his character had "run its course" in this case really means the writers never really decided who he was. he started the show getting a bj in the front seat of his car in the school parking lot (oh, bad boy), but then somehow became the "nice guy" prince charming to annoying annie. early on they also threw in the austic brother that has never been seen again. too bad that dustin is the victim of the writer's stupidity.

What a bummer, I liked his character. It's disappointing, but hopefully Liam will bring some excitement to the show next season and the rest of this one.
I hope they change their minds because I find this one of the dumbest things a writter can do.. How do you just cut a major player? Who does that? I feel that he has been w/ us from the start of the show and now in a way i've bonded w/ his character just like the rest of the characters that started the show.. If they wanted Liam to be the main guy they should of thought of that, now they are cutting a guy we have all grown to love.. What is going on? This is the only non reality show I watch and now this? I am feeling a little detached from 90210 right now.. This is such B-ll--it!! I think the writters stink, and if this is true I will not stop writting til Ethan is back.. They think his character ran its course huh? What about the fans? I will be laughing when this blows up in their face,!!!!
i think that the writers are making a mistake. Ethan is one of the original characters that we have grown with. i like Ethan, and i think that alot of people like him and the writers are going to realise that this is a mistake. i agree that they obiously had no idea what to do with the character, why didnt we see any more of his brother? that could have been a really good story line.
i really hope that he comes back, the main lead cant just be a bad boy that will get old really quickly, why cant they have liam and ethan.
I hope that Dustin milligan has a good career and shows the writers just what they are missing out on. the boy is fine!

No its stupid for the new director to take dustin off the show. It won't make sense to do that. It ends with him having a crush on silver and she wants to start the show back totally different, she's dumb to do that, she needs to rethink her thoughts. This director needs to elaborate on the characters more, instead of making short relationships and ending them quickly. The producer is making a huge mistake.
i knew this was comming... recently ethan hasnt been on the show as much as before. and since ethan is leaving the show... it was him that annie hit. and if this blows up in the writters face they cant bring him back inless they make the desition before season 2 comes. but once they play the first episode for season 2 saying it was ethan annie hit they cant bring him back because they said hes dead and how can a dead man come back. rating are going to go way down. so many fans are going to diss this. good bye ethan... fans will miss you greatly

i have a feeling that season 2 is really gonna suck. i really enjoyed season 1 and it just seems REALLY stupid to get rid of one of the major characters (ethan), especially after what happened in the finale. im having doubts about continuing to watch 90210 and there is a good chance the ratings r gonna go down. BIG MISTAKE PRODUCERS!!

I don't like Ethan's character he was a waste of time. Completely useless. His "relationship" if you would call it that with Silver is and was pathetic shallow and meaningless, it brought the character of Silver down and I doubt I will see her the same way again. I'm glad Ethan's leaving he was what you would call the anchor of the show dating anything in a skirt.
Although it's nothing personal with Dustin. I'm glad we will be waving goodbye to him.

Ratings will definitely go down if they get rid of Ethan. Everyone on this forum is right...the writers arn't doing a great job - the new director is out of her mind to change the whole thing - news flash: season 1 has already passed people are way into it now, they want to know what happens - if you go on and change it people are just going to get annoyed and eventually stop watching it! Ethan is a necessary character - lost yes, but that's the beauty of him - so Many people can relate to that. Liam's character is great too...but it's true the bad boy image does grow old! Keep the cast the way it is with the old and the new. Keep 90210 the way it is ...i wanna know what happens between Silver and Ethan and with Annie and Adrianna. See things from the viewer's perspective - isn't that what's important??

I am so upset that he is no longer on the show. He was one of the main reasons I watched! They need to bring him back. There are many story lines they could do with him. The guy who plays Liam is more boring.
