Simon Cowell Set To Quit American Idol

Simon Cowell Set To Quit American Idol

Simon Cowell is tired. He is working too much and there is one show that is to blame - American Idol.

The star, who also fronts Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor in his native U.K., tells British tabloid the Daily Mirror he makes up to four transatlantic flights a week just to keep up with his hectic filming.

As if that wasn't enough, Simon also heads a record label, and a television production firm! Oh my word! And I thought two kids and a blog was a lot to manage. :)

"I don't want to come over as whiney because I am very grateful that I have got these jobs. But there is a point where I am not sure we can keep this schedule up.

"It takes longer and longer to make these shows because you have to put more into them, and I am not sure we can sustain me doing three shows a year, with the record label and the TV production company.

"Most people do one show a year and I do three and they involve a lot of travelling. One may have to go. I don't know which one. That is the problem, I like all of them. I can't imagine not doing Britain's Got Talent and I can't imagine not doing X Factor.

"But I guess America is more likely to go because I have got one year under contract. Maybe that will be the end."

What will Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi, Ryan Seacrest, and Paula Abdul do without Simon?

Will you watch American Idol if the brutally honest judge leaves?

It's just a ploy to get more money. American Idol is nothing without Simon Cowell, and he knows it. Threatening to leave = more money in the bank.

I agree American Idol is nothing without Simon, the other judges have to much sympathy towards people which is understandable since they are human, but this is a competition judging on talent not on how sad their story is. Simon is the only honest one, everyone else is concerned about how the person is going to feel.

I would stop watching if Simple Simon left. Maybe he hates America? FUCK HIM THEN!!!!!!! LOUSY LIMEY BASTARD!!!!!

Um.. this show has been going for long enough already. I don't know anyone who watches it anymore. If he's sick of it than good... end it already. We've already realized that aside from Kelly and Carrie none of the other winners have got anywhere after the show. =^_^=

The show is still topping the neilsen ratings week after week so if you think nobody is watching, I would think again. Maybe none of your friends watch, but certianly millions of other people still do.

I personally won't watch it anymore without Simon.. If there's one person that should leave, it's Paula.. her comments are useless...

This is absoltely ridiculous. The brutally honest judge is the only one with structured critizizam. What ever will american idol fans do? Maybe this will shut down the whole show because of him. He should definitely be ashamed of himself if he does choose to leave america behind. He should be more patriotic. he came to live in this country, and he should be a proud citizen of it. He should either have never came to america just to screw us, or he should just screw britian! Everyone who loves american idol will and should stand up for the show and protest. the government or lawyers probaly could figure something out. I mean, they could add more time to the contract, without simon knowing it's not capable of becoming a LEGAL lawsuit. Don't worry simon lovers including paula, simon will be back for seasons to come and nobody can change that. i am also completely sure that he has grown to love american idol and this would be like tearing a large part of himself away by leaving. If any of you people reading this agree with me, than copy and paste this whole captune and send it as a comment.
Thanks;0

This is the most ridiculous comment I've ever read. What does the government have anything to do with Simon Cowell leaving American Idol? He is first of all a British citizen and they brought the show here so they won't screw the original to "be patriotic".

I stopped watching a few seasons back. The talent is all handpicked so it's not really much of a competition...

The reason is obvious - Simon Cowell owns X Factor & Britains got talent. He is just an employee on American Idol - Simon Fuller owns this show!

Simon is the only judge on the show who isn't too nice to tell the contestants the truth about their performances. The show won't survive without him.

I AM SO OVER THIS SHOW!

I don't think I'd watch it without Simon. The other judges take FOREVER to say NOTHING. They like it but they don't. Love the song but don't. Not sure about the pitch, not sure about anything. Simon is the only one who says anything worthwhile.

Yes, I will still watch the show. Simon is bloddy irritating. Enough already with the British........

I love the show and watch it faithfully; but, if Simon goes, I'm gone. I truly can understand that four transatlantic flights per week can/will wreak havoc on one's body, so I do understand Simon's ponderings re resigning from American Idol. Simon makes the show - for me and for my husband. Say it ain't so, Simon, say it ain't so.
