Eric McCormack’s ‘Trust Me’ Gets Canceled After First Season

Already? How terrible!

Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh are both looking for work again because their new TNT series, ‘Trust Me’ has been canceled after its first season.

Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT, TBS and TCM in Atlanta said:

It “achieved creative success. It just didn’t find an audience.”

‘Trust Me’ drew in about 1.4 million viewers – were you one of them? Did you give the show a chance? Any fans disappointed?

I watched! I wasn’t impressed by their idea of creative and clever ad executive these guys were supposed to be. THERE WAS NOTHING COMPELLING ABOUT WHAT THEY DID, AT WORK AND IN THEIR PERSONAL LIFE. The characters would get excited over the most mundane things on that show. But, I did have a fondness for all the lead characters, that’s why I watched. They were all good at something and this wasn’t it. But, what is meant to be will truly be.

I love Tom Cavanaugh, but the show just couldn’t keep my attention….

I think the show is great! The reason the show isn’t a success is because it is on TNT. If the show was picked up on a real network instead of cable, perhaps more people would watch. It saddens me that it was cancelled. It’s the one new show I looked forward to every week. You’ll be missed.

Shoot! I was just starting to really enjoy this show. I’ve always enjoyed both actors and wanted the show to work. Oh well, I guess they’ll come up with another goofy reality show of some sort. Boo!

The show was great creatively. I am very disappointed although as someone who is in the industry it did misrepresent the power of acount management.

But considering it is a tv show it was awesome!!!

Tom Cavenaugh’s Love Monkey and Trust Me both got cancelled for the same reason Studio 60 was cancelled a couple of years ago–because it was smart, well written and didn’t resort to fart jokes or vote people off an island…….sad that the few quality shows in the same vein as West Wing or Boston Legal get the axe nowadays to make room for more reality shows or American Idols spinoffs…..sad commentary on the intellect of the average US viewer

I liked it but was not sure where exactly to catch it and wasn’t extremely drawn to it like Grey’s Anatomy or True Blood. It was good, but not great!

I didn’t watch “Trust Me”, but i think Eric McCormack knew it was getting picked up for another season. A week or so ago he signed on for a new pilot for ABC.http://www.buzzsugar.com/2949433

  12. Liv says:

I watched for awhile but it was a creative mess with annoying characters.
I hope he has better luck with the next project.

i really liked it and i watched it until they moved it to tuesdays at 10. that’s like giving it a death sentence because very few new shows can compete w/ SVU

are they talking about will truman ……who is this erick guy you keep talking about ?!?!?!?

Tom is a brilliant actor….it’s unfortunate his shows never make it. It did another one a couple years back and it also didn’t make it. ;( that one was better than this one anyway, though.

I watched and didn’t mind what time it was on as I had TiVo. I loved it and have a friend in advertizing who said that’s exactly what that world is like. I am definitely upset that it has been canceled.

  17. Anna Saccone says:

That show was AWESOME! WHYYYY didn’t they give it a longer, fighting chance??? Intelligent & witty both in acting and writing it was such a joy to watch this show each week. I will miss all the characters! BRING IT BACK! Bring it back now! let’s start a petition.

I really think it’s 20 times harder for cable shows to find an audience as compared with network shows. There are a lot of cable TV shows that I think would do phenomenally well on network TV since they would be open to a broader audience and wouldn’t compete against some of the bigger network shows. My Boys (TBS) and Raising the Bar (TNT) are great examples of shows that should seriously be moved to network TV. I never watched Trust Me, but I’m sure network exposure to old Will and Grace fans would have done some good for them, if nothing else.
