Scarlett Johansson Responds To Speculation About Weight Loss

By now we all know Scarlett Johansson has been cast as the Black Widow in Iron Man 2 (which reportedly includes a latex costume as her superhero suit). Apparently, some articles have claimed she is losing an unhealthy amount of weight for the role. Scarlett has responded publicly.
'Claims have been made that I’ve been on a
strict workout routine regulated by co-stars, whipped into shape by
trainers I’ve never met, eating sprouted grains I can’t pronounce and
ultimately losing 14 pounds off my 5’3” frame,' Scarlett...
wrote.'Losing 14 pounds out of necessity in order to live a healthier
life is a huge victory. I’m a petite person to begin with, so the idea
of my losing this amount of weight is utter lunacy. If I were to lose
14 pounds, I’d have to part with both arms. And a foot. I’m frustrated
with the irresponsibility of tabloid media who sell the public ideas
about what we should look like and how we should get there.' "
Scarlett denies doing any "crash dieting" or participating in any "miracle workouts." Instead, she said she is losing weight the old fashioned way: eating healthy and exercise.
Good for her!

I just lost 15 pounds & honestly its not that much weight. It is noticable, but its just a little more than a size. Scarlett looks to be about a size 6 or 8 normally, so that would bring her down to a size 4 or 6.
Its not that drastic.
I totally agree about what she says about the media...
I'm 5 3 myself and I assure you that 15 pounds is drastic! I'm an 8 on good days now. When I was 15 pounds heavier I was a bit bigger than 12. If I lost 15 pounds, I'd probably be a 4! At that size I'd probably have bony limbs and protruding shoulders & pelvis.
I've never heard a rumor that she was trying to lose weight. I don't think she is that big either. She is curvy compared to the size 0's in Hollywood but she is not that curvy in normal terms. I don't understand why movie people don't just make suits to fit the body of the actress (who in this case is not big/fat at all) but make the actress lose weight to fit into a costume.

Agree, very beautiful. No need to lose any weight actually. Just get rid of that stupid tattoo on your arm ;-)
Well, I truly believe that if she really believes what she says (that looks and weight don’t matter, that women are too obsessed by their looks and that the media is creating a frenzy about it all) she wouldn’t have lost the pounds in the first place and PLUS she wouldn’t be posing in all the fashion and women-oriented magazines that promote all that stuff (and sell for that reason) and saying things like « I hope to stay sexy for a long time ». Ugh, so fake and lame! All the CONTRADICTION is only but a proof of it. Give it up Scarr, admit that the pressure is too high and that you are STUCK IN IT! Okay, at least she says she had to work out hard to get it off, but she's still promoting the wrong idea anyway! She was fine just the way she was and actresses' talents should not be measured by their character's outfits!!
Weird! I always thought she was around 5' 4 1/2". Though she is of Danish descent, it's rare for a Scandinavian to be on the short side. Also, is she part Swedish? Her last name is spelled with "-sson", not "-sen".
