Amy Smart Promises To Keep Up With Pole Dancing Exercise

Sometimes actors have to do things that are out of character in order to prepare for an upcoming movie role. Typically, they never keep up with the lesson, but every once in a while something sticks!

Amy Smart had such fun preparing to play a pole dancer in Crank sequel High Voltage, she wants to keep up her striptease lessons for her boyfriend.

The star took a series of classes, found her perfect tune and then learned how to strip and tease at fellow actress Sheila Kelly’s S Factor studio in Los Angeles – and now she’s hooked.

"It was sexually liberating and really fun. It takes a lot of work to make it look easy. It’s really awkward in the beginning but I had fun. At one point I wondered if I would ever pick it up.

"I loved my routine to Billy Squire’s song Stroke Me. That’ll get you going on the pole!

"Prior to working on this film I had taken a few classes of pole dancing and strip tease at the S Factor here in Los Angeles. It’s a really great place for women because it’s very sexual and very female empowering. I think I’ll get back into that because it was a great work-out and a great class, and there’s no mirrors so you don’t have to feel insecure watching yourself seeing how you look; you just sort of feel it in your body."

She has me intrigued! Anyone ever take a pole dance lesson?

This is weird. I pole danced once and I got a nasty rug burn in a private place. I guess I did it wrong because I didn’t feel liberated. I was almost castrated though, but I guess I did it wrong.

I always wanted to try it! I hear it’s a great work out! I just could not get a friend to go! I just do not like taking exercise classes with aout a frind, I feel uncomfortable in a class, it just reminds me of jr. high gym class! But, if I had the oppurtunity to take a pole dancing class, I would!

I took lessons and it was so much fun! And you do get a really good workout. It’s perfect for your core area. Plus spinning around on the pole is really exhilirating!!

I’m sure it is a good workout and fun, but I’m always confused at why things that are designed for women to do for the pleasure of men such as posing nude or stripper pole dancing are always described as about ‘female empowerment’. It’s not like getting elected President. I don’t like the idea that my female power is supposed to come from how sexy I can be to men.

    I completely agree.

I was just about to post something very similar.
Yes, gyrating to one big phallic symbol is so totally empowering, I guess THAT’S what every previous womens movement has lacked!
