Eliza Dushku And PaleyFest Honor Joss Whedon For Dollhouse

Eliza Dushku And PaleyFest Honor Joss Whedon For Dollhouse

Okay, I've told you how much I love the show Dollhouse. And I, like many of the show's fans, held my breath when I heard that Fox did not intend to air the thirteenth (and final) episode filmed but instead was saving it for the DVD (sugggesting cancellation was imminent).

Yet when PaleyFest and Eliza Dushku honored Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon last night, Joss indicated that all was not lost.

'They’re waiting to see what happens,' he said, adding Fox has said
the 'numbers have been solid and the demographic is wonderful and the
DVR ratings have been great.'

'So right now I’ve gone from a
sort of place of 'You don’t even care, nobody loves me' [laughs] to a
place of God, I can’t believe I’m saying this ... hope.'

'[W]e have a few more episodes coming up — whether it’s 12 or 13 — they
are fierce,' he added. 'They are ridiculous; I am so proud of them.
We’re going to go out this season with a bang, and hopefully we’ll get
to come back for Season 2.' "

Eliza said she missed working with Joss (she was on Buffy).

[Joss] saw sides of me that a lot of people don’t see. Everyone sort of just
painted me in black leather pants and put me in a push-up bra and made
me kick ass and he was like, 'I want to put you in a floral dress and
have you have daddy issues.' "

It may have started off a little slow, but it's gotten fan-tas-tic, so hopefully Fox will give them a second season!

The episode they aren't airing wasn't actually the "final" episode. It was a stand alone episode that takes place 30 years into the future. Fox NEVER intended to air the episode. It was something created specifically for the dvd release. So, in reality, that foreshadows nothing about the show's future.

I read your comment, Vera, about your interest in this show. I'm sorry to say I have watched all the aired episode of the "Doll house" and that show simply SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK SOMETHING AWFUL. Like a mouse dying in your shoe; and you can quite get the idea that is was there and you tired so hard to see something good come from that bad thing ( getting the shoe cleaned at the repair shop). That show truly came off as absolute SOFT PORN for the "spike " channel...... really, Peoples fantasies coming true by manipulating the human mind for pay. on that show Those people joined that secret underground program to escape their pain that they had in another life; only to join a organization that INFLICTED A NEW TYPE OF TORTURE AND PAIN ON THEN , THAT WAS BURNED OUT OF THE MIND EVER TIME THE CAME BACK TO THAT HELL HOLE PRISON ( but it looked tranquil). I SAY, THANK GOD someone HAD THE SENSE TO SEE THAT - THAT SH1T WAS TOOOOO WEIRD AND TOO S&M for regular tv viewers. Cable , maybe. I know the show meant well , I love most of the cast, but the acting was so 10th rate and the story line came off as a playboy fantasy camp.

I love the show! I've watched since the beginning...my husband and I tivo it and watch it after the kids go to bed. I still have a hard time getting over the romantic or sexual encounters...I see it as rape since they're programmed and don't really have the option to say "no".

I love the show also!! I hope it comes back for another season. I think it's different than what's out there right now. It's not another police/detective show.

This is a great TV show - very provocative and evocative. I never followed Buffy, but I became an Eliza Dushku fan after seeing Bring It On (of all things!)! :)
