Beyonce Goes Gangsta On Ali Larter

But don't worry, this isn't a new celebrity feud: it's for their movie 'Obsessed,' which opens in theaters this Friday. Beyonce and Ali Larter co-star in the movie, which includes Ali's character, Lisa, becoming obsessed with her co-worker (Derek, played by Idris Elba), who is married to Beyonce's character, Sharon.
'[My character] starts off in a great relationship with her husband --
very charming, sweet -- but when tested, she gets really gangsta,' says
Beyonce, who admits that in real life she's been known to break out her inner
Sasha Fierce. 'I'm a professional person, so I don't really get too
gangsta, but I am a businesswoman -- and I am quite gangsta, I should
say. So whenever I have to, in my own way, I have to turn on the
gangsta, yes.''[This role] was so much fun,' says the singer-actress. 'I had just finished playing Etta James
in 'Cadillac Records' and it was so different. I gained weight for the
movie, and a couple of weeks later I had to play Sharon, so it was hard
for me to make the mental adjustment, the physical adjustment -- so I
immediately went right into work trying to transform into this woman
who basically fights for her family.' "
It seems like I've been hearing about this movie, off and on, forever! From what I've seen of the previews, the husband basically steps out of the way while the women are the two who duke it out. Every guy's fantasy, right?
Does it sound like something you want to see?

The plot seems good but i'm a little skeptical about Beyonce's acting skills. If you see it can you write a review and let us know how it was?
"Obsessed" was pretty good. Very predictable, but somehow it keeps one interested. It wasn't gratuitous and excessive like it could have been. It made no mention of issues of race, in fact, it seemed like the film did all that it could to make it just seem like three attractive people involved in a somewhat common theme in film.
If the audience was expecting a commentary on Black/white interracial relationships, then they will be disappointed. In all honesty, I think that the film did a good job of avoiding this. However, I'm sure that what many people of all races will see if they see the promos or the actual film is the interracial element, but the fact that a film with this kind of dynamic could even be made may say something about a change in sentiments on this issue.
Isn't this Fatal Attraction all over again?
It's "Fatal Attraction" meets Lifetime movie. You know, a psycho woman trying to destroy a family.
Nope, not in the least.
For one, I'm sick of movies and TV shows pushing the notion that women have to fight over men ("Bachelor," I'm looking at you). It's as though we're forced to believe that without a man, we are incomplete. Puh-leeze.
Second, Beyonce's acting is about as bad as that black and gold monstrosity she wore to the awards.

Vogue t.r.a.s.h.e.d. it when she was on the cover. Capital T. So no, I don't have any interest. I don't like that stalker type of movie anyway, I had a stalker, it is never entertaining for me.
This is going to be in theaters? I thought it would go straight to video.

i think this movie looks slightly hilarious.
Not interested at all. As a woman in an interracial marriage, I'm faced regularly with the anger of women of another race who disapprove of my marriage and are openly hostile to it and me. A movie like this plays into fears, widens the gap between women of different races and does nothing to foster interracial unity. Not to mention, it just looks lame.
I wrote a review above about this issue and the film does not make it about the interracial aspect, but, of course, that's how many will see it. However, I can't remember a film where a white woman was shown obsessing about a Black man.... at least not one that is being promoted as a mainstream film. I'm sure that some whites would be disgusted at seeing this attractive white woman obsess over a Black man... and one who may not want her at that (I write 'may' because I don't want to give away the film). Women of other races who don't like your relationship aren't going to dislike you any more because of this film. Those issues go much deeper. Anyway, the film is not high art, but it is an escape if one has some time to kill. Many successful films replicate a familiar formula. This is nothing new in Hollywood. Personally, I think the filmmakers should be given credit for not playing into the interracial angle... even though they knew that that's what would get the film tacit attention.
I just finished watching the movie. I thought it was very good. People were comparing it to Fatal Attraction but it had it's own plt to stand on. The whole point of the movie was that the woman was a psycho. I'm happy that he didn't actually have an affair and then the woman retaliated. I thought the acting was great.
