Gordon Ramsay Confronts Protestor

Gordon Ramsay Confronts Protestor

While Gordon Ramsay
was preparing for a book-signing event at Waterstones in central London for his newest title 'Great British Pub Food', a member of the public had a different plan for the chef. A man confronted Gordon with a packet of cooked lamb shanks. It wasn't out of the goodness of his heart. It was because there is a rumor that Gordon has been serving pre-cooked food at a number of his restaurants.

I would LOVE to see video of this. I am sure Gordon didn't hold back!

It's more than a rumour - his staff admitted that they outsource some foods including fishcakes, which are made by the central supplier for £1.92 but cost up to £11.25 on the menu. Diners pay £3.50 for sausage rolls that cost 75p.

Naughty naughty Gordon!

It is a business though, making a profit is kind of the point.

The other anon is flat wrong. Nothing is "outsourced."

Gordon owns a kitchen that specializes in prepping food for three pubs and a diner. All kitchens prep foods - it's just that Gordon has consolidated it.

Gordon also isn't marking anything up. He is selling the raw prepped food to other restaraunts at a wholesale price and is selling the cooked, prepared version for market price in his restaurants.

I realize the Brit media likes to spin things to tear down great men. This is just another example.

It is outsourced - outsourced means 1. to subcontract (work) to another company.
2. to buy (components for a product) rather than manufacture them.

Whether Gordon owns the other compnay or not is not the point that the UK press were making. They simply wanted to let people know that the food they were paying a lot of money for was not being prepared on the premises by people who are trained by Gordon Ramsey. So in essence the patrons at his restaurants are not eating his creations.
