Ciara Says Her Height Scares Off Men

Ciara feels men are nervous around her because of her height. The singer is about 5ft 9in and at times towers over the men around her. Does this intimidate them enough to not ask her out? Ciara thinks so.
"Some guys are nervous about speaking to me. Maybe it’s because I’m five foot nine-and-a-half. Since I’ve been doing music I don’t really get asked out much."

Now , HER comment isn't about height; it's an excuse for not getting the men she want's. She probably comes off too strong. She does have a mouth on her. My doctor thought I would grow to be a 6'' footer. I suffer from puppy paws (big limps) .Ha! Sad but true. But , I manage to look like an average tall girl, so for most it all evens out in the end as you get older( I would hope for most).

truly, if she really was that tall then how tall is the guy standing next to her in the photo. she is wearing 4 inch heels there, that would make her what 6'2" and she still look shorter then that man she's holding on to; who clearly looks 5 inches taller than her. what does that make him 6'5''-6'6". have you ever seen a stocky man at that height look as average height as this dude. he is about 6'2 tops if that.
I'm not talking about the blk guy, I didn't see him until later. He is 6'5, but she would still be 6'2 ( as she claim , in heels) and she still look 5-6 inches shorter then that guy. And we are talking in the heels folks. in the heels. So calculate that info.
It's not that tall, but when everyone else is munchkin sized it can really ruin your confidence. I'm 5' 9" and it can really suck.

I'm 5'8 too and have never, ever felt like my height scared off guys. I wear 8cm heels when I go out and about and still don't feel too tall.

At 5'7 I have always, always wanted to be an Amazon. 6ft? Awesome. 5'9, eh. That's just a bit above average.

She is only 5'9? I thought she was 6ft. Five foot nine is tall but she not an amazon. I'm 5'6 and I am just fine with that. Height really isn't a big deal to me.
5 ft 9 is not that tall, but add in 4 inch heels and she is towering over everybody! I am 5 ft 8 and regularly wear 4 inch heels and constantly have guys commenting on how tall I am. Some have said it is a macho thing to want to be bigger than your woman. If he is too weak and too intimidated to stand next to me in my heels he is not the one for me! I def get what she is saying.
I totally understand what she's saying! All my friends are tiny and i'm 5'9". When i first started going out with my boyfriend i had issues with his height but now we've grown to love him being the shorter one. I do think height is intimidating and when you have long legs its easy to look "gangly" and a bit wild. Saying that i wouldn't change my height :D i love it :P

I have a friend who's 6' & she doesn't feel uncomfortable at all: in fact, she keeps on remarking every single day how tall she is & how short the rest of the world is, it kind of gets annoying. I'm a shortie 5'5" & I'm ok with my height. I wouldn't like being taller than the man I'm with, but that is a matter of personal taste.
maybe they are scared away because she is tall and looks like a boy with hair...that'll do it. I didn't know she was that tall. Alot of women are that tall now. I believe Rihanna and Keri Hilson and Kelis are 5'9...and hats off to them for wearing heels...I'm a fellow giantist myself and I never let that stop me from wearing heels...it's not like you can't tell that I'm already tall...my boyfriend is 5'8...so you can imagine, but he's got amazing swagger and it's cool.
I used to worry about being tall and you do tend to feel better around a man that makes you feel smaller, but once you hit your thirties...if you are lucky...you start to accept it all...why not?

I am 5'10" for the most part I've always been the tallest girl. It doesn't bother me, but when people go out of their way to mention how tall I am, especially when I wear heels it makes me laugh... Like I forgot how tall I was or something. Personally I like being tall.

I feel that being too short is just as much a downfall. I'm 23 and 5 feet, and a lot of men I know, feel that too much of a height difference is as "bad" as a woman being as tall or taller than they.
I'm 5' 8" (and thin, so it makes me look even taller) and my husband told me he was intimidated by me at first. With heels, I'm taller than most men I work with (I work around men constantly, so that says something). But my husband got over the intimidation thing and we've lived happily ever after ;-)

a friend of mine is 5'8 and a half (I'm 5'6) and yes she's taller than me but I certainly don't feel it. 5'9 isn't that tall.

I'm jealous of all you tall women! Tall is sexy but at 5' 2" all I ever get told is how "cute" I look... ugh.
People should keep in mind that she is in the entertainment industry. For some reason A LOT of people in entertainment are short. That's one of the reasons that people are so blown away by tall leading men like ryan reynolds and brad pitt. think about the al pacino's and the tom cruise's in entertainment. I don't think she's saying that she's some kind of amazon. I think she just means that she's taller than the avg in the biz and that makes it hard. I'm 5'10" and I went to a prestigious college and I can't prove it but I think in higher education the men are REALLY REALLY short. I felt like a giant all the time. Then I would go home and I would be normal again.

I am five ten, and love it. I wear and rock 4 inch heels all the time. When I walk in a room, heels or not, I know there are all eyes on me, and so I use that as an excuse to always dress well. (this site helps immensely with that! thanks Vera)
When I was younger, if I was having a tight month, I would call the modeling agency, and book extra work. I once danced with most of a basketball time one right after another craning my neck the whole time, and decided I would NOT like being short, and loved being tall.
If a man isn't interested in a tall girl, he wasn't for me. Derrrrr. I never needed that book, he just isn't that into you. If they weren't chasing me, I wasn't interested.

I'm 1.8m tall, and can't say i've ever had problems with men being intimidated. The only bugger is that I can't wear heels, cause my man is about 2cm shorter than me and I don't like to tower over him, thank god there are great flat shoes nowdays.

I'd love to be 5' 9" to 5' 11". Height is dignified and beautiful to me. Ciara is so pretty and stately to me. 5' 9" is not so tall that it doesn't look natural. She is lovely, shapely and sexy. I love her new CD. I rode out on it on my way to TN this weekend. She's the shiznit and knows it!

You could most likely have Marfan syndrome if you're unusually tall for your age and skinny. Have you seen a doctor, you should.

I am in high school right now and I am almost 5'11. I am used to getting comments about how tall I am and although it annoys me, I don't mind being tall. My friends said that after a while they didn't even realize how tall I was anymore and they just got used to it,but personally I don't think I would ever want to date a guy more than a little shorter than me, because I would want to feel protected.

I'm 5'9, and I really don't feel THAT tall. In high school, I was definitely one of the tallest girls there, but now in college, there are many other girls my height. Still, of course, people always mention how tall I am, but I just don't feel it. I guess, when you are this height, it's normal to you, but super tall to anyone who is shorter. I used to HATE being the height I am, but now I realize how amazing it is. If you're young, you may not appreciate it yet, but you'll see how much it will benefit you when you're older. im 5 foot 9 im considerd tall for a girl but not freaky tall..the average height of guys in New Zealand is about this height so the ony time i tower over guys is the short ones which is a good thing .Its not hard at all to find guys that are 5'10,5'11,6ft .you also carry weight alot better too !

i think being tall is beautiful im 13 and 5ft 11 and i love it, but i must admit i do get frustrated when buying clothes. Some boys do find my height intimidating but most don't care(because i have a cute face..lol.....)the good things about being tall are that my legs are absoulutly stunning, i could do modelling, and it gives me an advantage at sports such as basketball (which i'm 1 of da best in england at if i should say so myself) i'm tired of people discriminating against tall people i think being tall is a gift from God and we should be proud of our heights. To be honest i feel sorry for short people there vertically challenged and there missing out on all the fun tall people have.

I don't think that's normal or even healthy for a person your age to be that tall. You could be more vulnerable to diseases later on, cuase research study show that taller people are at higher risk of getting cancer and even die early so being tall isnt all that great.
