Kate Winslet Says She Feels Sorry For Young Celebrities
Kate Winslet feels sorry for young celebrities. The 'Revolutionary Road' actress relieved she wouldn't be able to handle today's pressures of the industry at a much younger age.
"It's really, really tough. It's like, 'She's fat, she's
thin, she's married, she's divorced.' I had all that and bouncing back is
f***ing hard. I'm really, really happy I'm not a younger actor or actress
working now because they have to run before they can walk."
While speaking with Marie Claire magazine, Kate also admitted that she doesn't mind aging.
"I don't mind the way
I'm aging. I think I look my age, and that's fine.
"I don't think I look younger than 33 and I don't think I look particularly
older than 33. I think I'm sort of holding it together."
But Kate has not always been so happy with her appearance, and admits her
formative years were made hard by bullies.
"I was bullied for being chubby. Where are they now!
"I had, 'No one will ever fancy me!' well into my teens. Even now I do not
consider myself to be some kind of great, sexy beauty. Absolutely not!"I do think it's important for young women to know that magazine covers are
retouched. People don't really look like that. In films I might look
glamorous, but I've been in hair and make-up for two hours, someone's been
lighting a scene for three hours."
It's a great reminder that most of the industry isn't real. I love how stars aren't hiding behind that anymore.

She's SO right about magazine covers being re-touched, hair & makeup & lighting. Nobody looks that perfect, but it's still hard to accept. I love Kate Winslet, she's got a good head on her shoulders.

Honestly, LOVE Kate but she's sounding just a little bit too self absorbed now. Get over it. Also, looks like she's NOT over her body issues. She was really skinny a few months ago, now back to pudgy.

I just find this funny, she feels sorry for young celebs? Bull-she would die to have that kind of attention, maybe she would get more work or get paid more for what she's doing if people paid any attention to her.
A little late to be posting on this subject, but Isis your comment was rather ridiculous. Oh yes, She would "LOVE" to have the kind of attention you're talking about. Aside from the fact that she won both an Oscar AND a Golden Globe this year, she is one of the most coveted actresses in Hollywood. Why? Because she has immense talent and class. And get more work? Ecscuse you, just because she doesn't appear in nonsensical vampire movies or pointless blockbusters doesn't mean she isn't in plenty of movies. Hers happen to be intellectual or thought provoking, and the masses would rather have a movie spoon fed to them. And who are you to speak for her, and say what she would "die" for? Honestly.
