JJ Abrams And Leonard Nimoy Talk 'Star Trek' And 'Fringe'

JJ Abrams and Leonard Nimoy talked to TV Guide about working on both 'Star Trek' (can you wait until it comes out at midnight tonight?!) and 'Fringe.' JJ isn't sure if he'll do another 'Star Trek' film, but he is sure you should go see this one, even if you haven't been a fan in the past!
This is not the Trek you thought you knew!
[T]he universe Mr. Roddenberry created is all about us. Not only is his vision still relevant, I would argue that it’s more relevant now than ever."
If you've been following the buzz at all, you know the heroic Captain Kirk isn't so, well, heroic in this film (he's described as "a brash, rebellious, chauvinistic jerk").
This film doesn’t assume you care about Kirk, like the early Trek films
did. We give you the guy who will eventually end up in that captain’s
chair and show you why you should care."
And a Spock who is (gasp!) emotional?!

You'll see a Spock who's not in control of his emotions. Being logical wasn't a biological imperative that came with being half-Vulcan. It was a choice and we see the inner struggle that led to that. This is an origins story. We look at all the characters through brand-new eyes."
Unlike his alter-ego, Spock, Leonard Nimoy said the new movie definitely stirred memories of the original cast.
I started crying - and it still moves me now. I loved D-Kelley [DeForest Kelley]...salt of the earth...I cried a lot watching this production."
As for guest-starring on 'Fringe' as William Bell, Leonard had two questions:
'Is the character arrogant?' 'Can I wear silk pajamas?' [a request that was vetoed.] "

Leonard! I love that he cried! I'm definitely going to see it even though I kind of hated Star Trek as a kid. In my mind, you were either Trek or Wars, and I was a geek over the latter.
Can't wait for William Bell! I would've loved him in silk pjs! lol

I love all the old Star Trek stuff (while I wouldn't be considered a "Trekkie" by a long shot), but I do love anything that JJ Abrams does. So taking all that into consideration (along w/all the hot guys in the movie), I will def. be checking this out! And this is the first I've heard JJ being involved with Fringe - where have I been (other than NOT on the TV when LOST is not on!). I guess I'll be checking that out, too! I just might have a new show!!!!!
oh sweety you will be addicted !!!! if you know someone who dvr-ed it (...) definitly worth not working two days to catch on ;)
what's with the tip of his nose. looks like the tip of a penis. Dan Aykroyd was rocking that look in the movie "Nothing but trouble", Demi Moore. gross!

Saw the movie last night :-D I'm a Star Trek fan. My fiancee is a Star Wars fan. Lol. And even he enjoyed it.
Been watching Star Trek since I was a little girl, was worried about the direction JJ Abrams was going to take the franchise, and found that I really enjoyed the movie. (granted I was already drooling over screen caps waaaay last year). The editing and cinemtography was really well done, though I could deal without all the blurred transitioning scenes. Acting was pretty well done and for those who know anything about the old series, then you would find all the humor in some of the actions of the characters. Though you don't need to know anything about Star Trek to go see this movie. There's a lot of action, good energy and not to mention a great looking cast.
I'm thinking I'll give it an 8 or 9 out of 10. Still on the fence due to the whole ST time canon thing. :) Just beware of some ST fans shouting out "red shirt!!!" through the film.
go see it!
Oh, and I've never seen Fringe. -shrug-
Penis nose.
What a legened Nemoy is. The new film is great i hear.
