Quentin Tarantino In A Pair Of High Heels

You can’t HELP but love Quentin Tarantino! I mean, check out this photo from his most recent NY Times Style Magazine interview. In case you are wondering, the heels are from Trash and Vaudeville. :)

Sitting at the foot of a bed draped with Diane Kruger, Quentin showed off a much more sensual side than we are used to.Here are a few excerpts from the interview.

When you’re making a film, like this year’s ”Inglourious Basterds,” which will premiere at Cannes, is it hard to watch movies?

Maybe it’s just this movie, but it’s become very hard to concentrate on anything but the film I’m making. This was the hardest movie I’ve ever made.

”Inglourious Basterds” is a World War II epic that combines historical events with a vivid, pop sensibility. The movie stars, among others, Brad Pitt as an American lieutenant in search of Nazis and Diane Kruger as a German movie star/spy. It’s both authentic and highly theatrical. Did you shoot on soundstages in America or in Europe?

We shot the film in Berlin and a little bit in Paris. I only cast actors who could speak English with their native accents. The Germans have accents, the French are French, and the English are English. During the war, your understanding of German, whether you were a French citizen or you were in a concentration camp, meant the difference between life and death. In Hollywood movies, Germans often have English accents, and I can’t go for that contrivance. The proper accent could be the difference between success and failure.

On this movie, you worked very quickly. Was that partially to have the film ready in time for Cannes?

Yes. I wanted to have a masterpiece before the decade’s out.
What directors made you want to become a filmmaker?
Sergio Leone and Mario Bava. I saw ”Baron Blood” and ”Beyond the Door II” by Bava in the theater, and I was overwhelmed. And Leone is Leone. Those two influenced me the most as far as thinking in terms of shots. And then I was in acting school, and I discovered I knew drastically so much more about cinema than anyone else in my class. I realized I was with the wrong group.

quentin is very creative. his films are dark, seedy but always fun and not depressing to watch. find someone who really sucks to hate on..what about m. night shamalalala
and if you are busy hating on someone who actively produces creative material, you are most likely bitter that you are not doing the same.

Listen, all ye noobs that would accuse Tarantino of “not being very original at all.” I was just told by an actual artist ( who does and has done nothing but art for a living for more than 30 years ) ” Talent may borrow, but genius must steal. “

  3. miia-maria says:

i love the photo, quentin is hot in my kinda way, twisted and dark but humorous! and seems intelligent enough, though i’m not sure.. and yes, all art borrows, that’s the first thing you learn if u start studying art/cultures/hostory or anything that mildly touches the subject… it’s taking something old and showing it in a different light, twisting it in some ways, that makes a genious piece. it’s not like all those rom-coms, action flics, horror movies or saddening dramas usually offer anything really new. it just must be done so that it doesn’t seem like a re-run, mix things up. that’s where talentless fail, they try&create something new and surprising, so they come up with the most ridiculous plots that and too much details, like the tv-shows that are so damn specific in their main idea that it doesn’t carry for more than 5 episodes..

  4. This men is crazy, but i love all his movies, if he needs High Heels to do it, just let the men do it!.

Please! All Quentin does is lift ideas from old exploitation movies that he has a boner for. He’s not that original at all!

I love love love Quentin Tarantino, he’s one of my favourite directors. This photo is funny … and ever so slightly sinister!

  15. lettibe says:

I think he is a great director, but why with Brad Pitt!! It’s like Clint Eastwood, he casted the boney Angliena and That movie bombed.

  16. Anonymous says:

Changeling did not bomb, it did made about 100 million worldwide and earned Angelina oscar, golden globe, sag and bafta nominations. Her “Wanted” movie made $341,433,252 worldwide.

Dramas are not huge box office movies, a movie like revolutionary road made only 74 million worldwide with names like Kate and Leo. But Benjamin button made $329,809,326 worldwide so Brad does not have box office bombs.

And Angelina lost weight when her mother died, and that experience would cause anyone with a heart to be affected. So you calling her boney is rude

  17. missmarnip says:

i guess he casted brad pitt out of the same reason as ben stiller casted tom cruise: b/c they are real-life wackos.

  18. cash-in says:

MEH! Wonky-spaced eyeballs like a lizard? When you are rich, mentally disturbed and THAT ugly.. making more of a fool of youself to get attention is routine. He needs a lavender wide brim ribboned hat and pearls then the picture might make sense?

  19. Anonymous says:

    A) He doesn’t need attention. B) Did you just have a stroke?

  20. missmarnip says:

he so needs attention! noone except his friend rodriguez would want to see his face in a movie so he has to put himself in his own movies. once it’s called cameo, twice (or more) it’s called pathetic.

  21. Anonymous says:

Changeling DID bomb at the BO and Saint AngieHo only got an Oscar nod because they snubbed her for A Mighty Heart (which she also sucked in). Revolutionary Road also bombed at the BO. BTW Saint AngieHo IS bony.

this photo is HOOOOOOTTT! i like the twistedness of it.
it isn’t in your face sexy it is subtle, and moving.

QT rocks, he is a deep cat for sure. glad to see others appreciate the richness of his vision. beyond mainstream shallow flicks.

  23. Anonymous says:

quentin hasn’t made a decent movie since 2004.

  24. missmarnip says:

i would say 1994 was his last great movie. but he probably knows that it went downhill since then.

  25. Valarie Yoga says:

I wonder if the comment about “proper accent” is a jab at Tom Cruse’s Valkyrie movie, which, had loads of good actors, but they were Brits and Americans playing Germans .. with no accents. Bad movie that.

  26. hurleygurlie5401 says:

look how HUGE those shoes are!!! i wonder if he borrowed them from paris ; )
