Donald Trump announced yesterday that Carrie Prejean would be allowed to keep her crown as Miss California despite the semi-nude photos that have surfaced. Today, Miss California Pageant Director Shanna Moakler has resigned her post.
‘Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about
what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best
interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization,’ Moakler
tells Us.‘I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting
the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the
contracts I signed committing myself as a youth,’ she continues. ‘I
want to be a role model for young woman with high hopes of pageantry,
but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am
sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them
the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams.’ "
Meanwhile, Katie Rees, who was stripped of her crown as Miss Nevada because of nude photos in 2006, is complaining of a "huge double standard."
‘Semi-nude photos are semi-nude photos,’ she told E! News.
‘I don’t know why I am the only one who was punished for their
behavior,’ she said. ‘I was only 19 when those photos were taken of me,
and it was me in my personal life, far before I was crowned Miss
Nevada. Carrie actually posed for these professional semi-nude photos.‘I think that’s worse.’ "

I respect Shauna for standing up for equality for all plus the fact that prejean violated the contract and was rewarded for it.
The Donald owns the pageant and prejeans boobs, its all about money but I think it may backfire on them in the end it has brought equal rights into the headlines again.
God, Carrie Prejean looks dumb. She shines outside but there’s no glow inside. Ugh.
Shanna is standing behind the contract that all girls are made to sign. whether she had troubles in her marriage, it has nothing to do with the pageant. Some of you “ladies” act like your marriages are 100% perfect. Shanna is right, a contract should be honored and Donald Trump knows that, he knows that better than anyone.
Remember he has also allowed other contestants to keep their “crowns” while violating their contracts or behaviour unbecoming to a pageant contestant. The pictures would never have mattered if she had not responded to the question the way she did.
From what I’ve seen, other contestants have lost their crown, I don’t think this girl was targeted for her comment on gay marriage. The pictures were the reason she was brought up on charges of violating her contract not her opinions.
Did she resign because of the contract issue or because of Carrie’s views? Either way I would have asked her to resign after those comments she made about Carrie because it very unprofessional and made her look foolish.
About the same sex marriage issue I wish all of you would get on Obama about that also. I wish everyone would give him the same treament as Carrie P. because he doesn’t support same sex marriage either. Where is Perez Hilton calling him a dumb b***h? Where are all the protestors? Why is no one accusing him of hatred, bigotry, and of being a homophobe? It all seems a little hypocritical.
When he was asked, Obama did say he does not believe in gay marriage; however he did say he believes in equality for all….look it up……. Anyway you can’t compare Obama to this twit.

Carrie didn’t say she didn’t believe in equality for all. She said exactly what Obama did “A marriage should be between a man and a woman”. So if you’re so unhappy about her point of view and want her crown then maybe you should ask Obama to resign too. I don’t know why everybody is so worked up that a pageant contestant doesn’t believe in gay marriage. How is that going to influence your state representative?

I find it funny that her views on gay marriage are in line with the MAJORITY of Californians (who voted to ban gay marriage TWICE) AND our current President yet her response is treated by the media as controversial. I don’t see Hilton or anyone else in the media trashing Obama for being against Gay Marriage so I find their attacks on the beauty queen to be disingenuous at best.

As someone who lives in california I resent people saying the majority of people here want to ban marriage for gay people. Mormons from Utah poured into our state and spent $80 million dollars on a smear campaign. They told people their priests and pastors could be arrested if they would not marry gays they told people that children would learn about gay sex acts in school all lies. Even with all the lies they only won 52% to 48% . The national polling is 50/50 with an average of 6% more Americans changing their mind and supporting gay marriage every month for the last 6 months. The bigots will lose on this issue. The Miss Ca. is a spokesperson job she didn’t answer the question he actually asked and the answer she gave did not make any sense that is why she did not win. She seems very proud to be for denying Americans rights I’m sure there were people who were proud of supporting segregation they were wrong and so is she.

How many states have put Gay Marriage on the ballot for voters the past two elections? How many of those states approved gay marriage via the voters?
Answer: VOTERS overwhelmingly oppose gay marriage!!!!! The few states that allow gay marriage due so via courts throwing out the voters will (election results). To claim the “national polling” shows this issue is a 50/50 split with more and more people supporting gay marriage every day is almost as nonsensical as blaming the gay marriage ban in California on out of state mormons.

If her religious convictions lead her to the conclusion that homosexuality is a sin and thus gay marriage is not something she can support. If so then a case could be made that attacking that young lady for her views is nothing short of religious persecution.

I find the whole pageant scene creepy. To parade half naked in front of a bunch of ageing men? Not being able to say what you actually believe in? And then for the organisers to turn around and make a big deal about some half naked pictures that were taken years before this event just takes the biscuit.
I never heard he say she was against legal partnerships for gays. Just against them being ‘married’ which is actually a religious sacrament. In fact I believe that most churches have given the same opinion, if not being totally against gay partnerships of any kind, and I don’t see anyone leaving their church in disgust. My problem is not how she answered the question about gay marriage. She has the right to say whatever she wants about it, regardless of how I feel. I disagree with her, but it’s OK– she can express herself however she wants. My problem is about the pictures. How are her pictures any different from those of Miss Nevada a few years ago? Why does she still have her crown? How the hell are these women role models if they are engaging in this type of behavior? Take as many pictures as you want, but know if you want to be famous they will come back to bite you!
The funny thing about this whole brouhaha is that her initial comments at the pageant support gay marriage. Her comment was “I’m proud to live in a country where people can choose same sex marriage or opposite marriage”. She clearly said she was proud to live in a country where people can choose that is a pro-gay marriage position. Believing in marriage equality does not necessarily mean you support gay marriage personally but that you think Americans should legally have the freedom to choose who they marry. Carrie Prejean said she was proud of the freedom to marry therefore she is pro-marriage equality by her own words. I am a proud Christian and a straight woman I want to get married eventually and raise children and i think every american should have the same opportunity gay or straight. The bible said marriage is a sacrament for ALL God’s children.

If people don’t believe in it don’t marry someone of the same sex it is wrong to try to ban other Americans from having the same rights that you enjoy. When they say “live by the book” that should also imply the entire book.
For example, in the book of Leviticus where it states homosexuality is a sin, there are also several “sins” in there that Miss California commits herself ie. being untruthful, wearing two fabrics together, etc.
The truth is, all religions are poison. It’ll take another 100 years for us to realize that when we can truly think for ourselves without this veil of delusion that is the cause of wars and disintegration of humanity.

She is a hypocrite becasue she is quiltyof gay bashing as well as shamelessly posing for topless photos. People in my church do not pose topless in mens magazines and they are taught to love their brothers and sisters. A good christian does not take their clothes off for millions of people to see. They asked her a question and she answered it. Was she suppose to lie and say she was fine with gay marriage even if she believed otherwise. We live in America and we are all entitled to our opinions. The poor girl gave her honest opinion and now she is ridiculed by America for it.

Btw: I have yet to see ANYONE in the mainstream media attack Obama on gay marriage.
