Anthony Hopkins To Play Hannibal Lecter Again

Anthony Hopkins To Play Hannibal Lecter Again

Hannibal Lecter. The name alone sends shivers up my spine!!

Lucky for Silence of the Lamb fans,  Sir Anthony Hopkins – who starred in ‘The Silence of the Lambs’,
‘Hannibal’ and ‘Red Dragon’ – will reprise his role as
the cannibalistic serial killer for a fourth time in the upcoming horror
directed by Sir Ridley Scott.

Lots of sirs in this post huh?

A spokeswoman from film-makers Universal said:

“Sir Anthony Hopkins and
director Ridley Scott are both very committed. We like what we’ve got, and
the revised script is really, really good.”

However, don't expect Jodie Foster to return. The film source claims the house is not interested in having her involved.

“We’ve decided that we’re not going to reapproach Jodie.
We are trying to come up with the right lead to replace Jodie and are
putting together a list of candidates.”

Reportidly, that list includes Cate Blanchett. The New York Post reports:

“I think Hopkins’
involvement raises the quality of the film considerably. Cate is a very
respected actress, and she’s obviously been in the industry for a long time.
In terms of pedigree, Cate would probably bring as much to the film as
Foster did.”

Who would you like to see replace Jodie?

the most recent Hannibal movie was in 2007 - 'Hannibal Rising' and it was about his early life and beginning. Jodie foster was already replaced in Hannibal by Julianne Moore, Jodie foster did not want to be part of the series so its not surprising she still feels the same way.

and then the producer dissed Jodie by saying how much better and sexier Julianne was so of course they can't "reapproach" her. NO ONE can ever replace Jodie as Clarisse and this movie is going to suck just as much as the last one.

Excellent news, Anthony Hopkins is a wonderfully talented actor. I can see Cate Blanchett in the role .....

Anonymous Anonymous said:

Emily Blunt should do it!

Vera, you have GOT to be kidding me. Jodie was replaced A LONG TIME AGO. Have you ever researched ANYTHING you have written about? Didn't think so.

I can say that the the silence of the lambs is my favourite film ( and people who know me can tell it ) but i am not interested in another movie about the same theme. They cannot reinvent the first film, they will not have jodie foster in it, which means that it will be as bad as the sequel was and the prequel. When I watched the silcence of the lambs I was sure that it was a great film, but the others were really desapointing....I waited ten years to have the same experience or maybe to watch a good film, but it didn´t happen and will not happen if they don´t have jodie foster in the film. She made the film, Hopkins was there for thirty minuts or so. He was great but their working together was fantastic. Two great actors who know how to work together. They really should try and have her again. She will tell them how she thinks the film should be and this is what makes her films so powerful. I know that studios can make another version with lots of violence and with lots of blood. I know that many people will enjoy it. But it will be just violence and blood put together in a film and not the magic that really good actors cam bring if they work as jodie foster does.

This has nothing to do with the Hannibal movie series, but I was watching the movie Nell yesterday with Jodie Foster and I swear, I couldn't get through 2 minutes at a time when her character came on screen. What a painful movie to watch!!!! It was absurd.

Seeing as the end of Hannibal the movie was so different from the end of the book, another installment could work, I guess.
As for who should play Starling, I kinda liked Julianne Moore in Hannibal.

I love Anthony Hopkins and Silence of the Lambs was a fantastic movie, but if Jodie Foster doesn't want to do the role, I'd rather them not make a movie. I didn't care for Julianne Moore as Starling.

Someone should let AH know that his film time is over. He should go play Lear, or something.
