Jessica Biel Says Being Hot Is A Serious Problem

Here we go again…

Jessica Biel is another actress who says that being good looking is hurting her career. When asked if being so sexy is a problem, the actress responded,

"Yeah, it really is a problem. I have to be blunt. I’m in there with everybody else, fighting for the good parts. Yes, The Illusionist has made a difference — but a huge, massive difference, so I can pick and choose what I want? No.

I just want an opportunity. If you don’t like the audition, don’t hire
me!" she says. "But if you don’t want to even see me — that’s hurtful.
And why? You know nothing about me!"

In the same interview with Allure Magazine, Jessica also clears up rumors that she and Justin Timberlake are getting married.

"I have no idea if I want to get married," she says. "I have a lot to do careerwise."

The ring that sparked the talk was actually a gift she bought for herself!

Anyway, back to the original topic at hand…is being discriminated against for being too sexy really a serious issue in Hollywood? Are Jessica and other actresses’ complaints legit?

I think she is attractive but I don’t think she’s hot or sexy, no way. I think the reason she doesn’t get any roles is because she can’t act AND she’s not sexy. If she were at least sexy, she’d get roles. Just look at Jessica Alba, she’s hot and sexy but she can’t act yet she still gets roles. So Jessica Biel makes no sense whatsoever.

  2. Carolyn says:

I agree that she doesn’t get parts because she hasn’t proven herself to be a very good actress, not because she’s too pretty. Give me a break.

There are a lot of beautiful and talented women who are taken seriously and get good roles. Scarlett Johannson, Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, Charlize Theron, etc. In my opinion Jessica Biel and Megan Fox are nowhere near these women in terms of talent.

Being hot is a problem. How would she know?

  4. Ha says:

I couldn’t wait to come in and read the comments to this one! I personally think she is really pretty with an amazing body (and I don’t hate her) but I wish actresses would keep comments like this to themselves. It’s like career suicide.

  5. Ellie says:

Awww, so much jealousy from a whole lot of “anonymous” women. She’s not hot… right, I guess you are all drop-dead-gorgeous supermodels. And her acting sucks? Well, if she’s so bad why don’t YOU audition for her roles, do better, and take her place? =^_^=

  6. Euncie says:

Comments like these are annoying to me. Because look at someone like Charlize Theron, she’s beautiful/hot and she’s had some amazing roles. Charlize is both beautiful and a great actress (not saying Jessica isn’t but i don’t find her acting that great), hence why she can get great roles.

  7. operaghost says:

Right . . . because obviously Cate Blanchett, Rachel Weisz, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, and so many others who have had success in movies are just terribly unattractive. Try again, Ms. Biel!

  8. Anonymous says:

That’s one very judgmental way to take the other comments… So according to you, we can’t comment on this because we aren’t supermodels/actresses? That is some pretty poor logic.

  9. MGL 1234 says:

its her acting, not her ‘beauty’

Charlize Theron – Monster – HELLO jessica get a clue

  10. 8675309 says:

She has cultivated her image & then complains about it. Who’s fault is that?

  11. Anonymous says:

    A) This is all terribly worded BS, but I will agree that a LOT of the girls on this website are jealous and/or insecure… which fuels their anger. B) Humility is sexy, no one seems to have gotten that memo.

  12. Briannelynnc says:

I think she’s very pretty, maybe not the MOST beautiful, but then beauty itself is such a subjective thing. I just think she’s a very one dimensional actress, she just seems to lack that “it” factor for me.

  13. Anonymous says:

So according to Ellie, others can’t have a different view, because that means they are jealous? LOL…ok peroxide princess.

  14. Anonymous says:

maybe because your a bitch and cant act your way out of a paper bag, thats why you dont get the role, as for the fact you think your too beautiful or good looking, get over yourself. your little wigger boyfriend isnt much more to look at than you are

Yet again Ellie is right…you know Ellie; you shouldn’t waste your time on these internet blogs. You should get a job with the Government; they’re always looking for psychics, maybe you can help them find Osama.

  16. Anonymous says:

Newsflash …the internet blogs are full of “different people”. Many of whom are not actually jealous; they like to post asinine things just to get a rise out of people. In the internet, anyone can be whatever they want and say whatever they want. If you don’t like it, don’t click on it; don’t read it go somewhere else. Is the WORLD WIDE WEB; All are welcome whether you like it or not. DON’T TAKE EVERYTHING YOU READ SO SERIOUS. If you want humility take an f*cking etiquette class.

  17. Annon says:

She is just average (and NOT saying that out of jealousy! Saying that because that’s the way I see her). I just can’t believe all these actresses using their ‘gorgeous looks’ as an excuse for not getting parts. Come on, try being a better actress and you might get better parts. I would love to hear them use that excuse around Halle Barry, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, and many others who get good roles and are absolutely gorgeous.

  18. Anonymous says:

Ellie, just because some of the people don’t agree with Jessica Biel’s statements doesn’t mean they are jealous. As an ACTRESS, if she is going to call herself that and expect people to pay and see her perform; then yes she needs to “bring it”. This is the typical response from your type “they must be jealous if they don’t agree with me”. Get over yourself and chill on the peroxide, is damaging your brain cells.

  19. Anonymous says:

    yeah she is not hot

  20. Anonymous123 says:

Sure she’s pretty but she’s so miserable – who wants to work with somebody who is grouchy all the time? Jessica Alba, Megan Fox and now her bitch and complain about being too beautiful or too sexy – give it up girls – none of you can act.

  21. Hmmmm says:

There have been many actresses that have had trouble getting parts because of their looks, i.e Halle Berry, Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman…but those women are truely ridiculous looking they are so beautiful. I remember the Producer of “Monstars Ball” literally saying that he didn’t want Halle for the role because she is “too beautiful to understand a woman going through that type of pain”. So that does happen. I think those actresses get mad because tehy are true actresses and dont mind leaving the vanity at the door. Has anyone noticed that it wasn’t untill Halle looked haggered in “Monstars Ball” or Charlize really looked like a Monstar in that movie “Monstar” or Nicole Kidman has to get a fake nose in the “hours” that they won their Oscars? Thats not a coincidence. The only difference is that those women are far superior actors to a woman like Jessica.

Jessica seems like a nice girl, so i’ll give her a break and not be mean about her looks. I will just say if those women mentioned above can get great roles…then Jessica should have no problems based on her “looks”.

  22. Anonymous says:

    hahahahahahahahahaha……

  23. Anonymous says:

I do think Jessica is beautiful, however, she is a horrible actress and that is probably why she doesn’t get decent roles. Perhaps these “too beautiful” actresses should stop complaining and just start getting acting lessons.

  24. Herowneulogy says:

No offense to her, but as great a body she has, the reason why she’s not getting any “good roles” is because she’s not a real actress. Sorry, but ScarJo and NatalieP are as good as it gets when it comes to the 20-27 age range.

  25. Em says:

hmmm. Yep, being hot is always a problem. Mm hm. Right. It is so much of a problem that guys never ignore you, you have tons of friends, and get complimented all the time. I don’t even think Jessica’s that pretty. Sure she’s nicer looking than the average woman, but that doesn’t make her hot. I think she’s being really vain and snobby saying that shes too hot to get a good part. Cry me a river, Jess. Seriously, grow up.

  26. Em says:

Yea right. I have a NAME “Ellie.” I am not anonymous, as you say. And just because she may be prettier or a better actress than me doesn’t mean I have to like her. It annoys the heck out of me to hear people say celebritys are better than me. They have plastic smiles, plastic faces, and plastic boobs. And Jessica Biel is no exception. And, f.y.i, some of us ARE drop-dead gorgeous and great actors. And Don’t say I’m jelous. Cuz I’m not. I would never like to be Jessica. EVER. Get a grip. :)

  27. legogirl says:

Jessica Biel is pretty, and Megan Fox is sexy, but I personally think there’s a difference between being pretty, sexy, etc and being beautiful. And being any of these things has nothing to do with enduring presence on the big or small screens. I agree with some of the comments above – if the actress isn’t getting the parts she wants or isn’t being offered the roles she covets, it may be because she doesn’t have the talent or skill. It might not have anything to do with this “beauty card” these young actresses seem to play when the chips are down. :)

Should Christians step out or stay in their “Holy Box”? Like seriously this urks me sometimes. Are people too HOLY or do some people just have a negative connotation regarding Christianity?

What the hell are you talking about? And why are you posting it here?

  30. Anonymous says:

I think this comment has been taken out of context in the blogosphere to get people talking and hating. She was asked if being “sexy” has ruined her chances at landing jobs. Well, of course it has. In the casting world, if the entire world knows you mostly because you once landed at the top of a Sexiest Women Alive list, then agents don’t even want to give you a chance. What she says is very true, regardless of whether you all think she’s hot or not. I do, however, think she has contributed to the problem perhaps a bit with her choice in roles of late, but girlfriend’s got to pay the bills, so lighten up people. btw, all of SJ’s roles have been vixenish, there’s no way she can play serious with her body image.

  31. faye says:

    lmao nice one

  32. Anonymous says:

Have you seen her movies??? the girl with the pearl earring and lost in translation (to name just two), which she received oscar nominations for in the same year, were not vixen roles. And GHOST WORLD/SCOOP! come on she played total nerds! I think you may need to go back and actually watch some of scarlett’s stuff before you make the claim she can’t play serious. As for Jessica…theres this thing called acting class…GO!

  33. Anonymous says:

I used to like her, but not so much now that I know she’s so full of herself

  34. Anonymous says:

i think jessica biel looks like a man sometimes… she has a very boney face, the only time her face softened like a woman is when she had her boyfriend and stopped working out. She’s not very attractive to claim that being pretty is hard, that’s too conceited of her to say that. A lot of girls are dying to be pretty and here she is complaining about it. If you think you’re pretty, you don’t have to say it yourself and you should just keep loving yourself instead of complaining about it. Silly!

  35. Em says:

Haha. I totally agree with you. She is very hot (Koff NOT koff)

  36. Gee Gee says:

Jessica, Jessica….I don’t think they don’t want to see you because you’re so hot it will melt their retinas. Is because you suck as an actress and they don’t want to waste their time.

  37. Anonymous says:

I think Jessica Biel is both a decent actress and a decent looking celebrity. When you think of hotness you have to take into account the body and the face. overall she’s pretty hot, but i would think that that can only help her career. Who wants to be ugly?

  38. Anonymous says:

oh pleeease SHE IS NOT HOT AT ALL!!

THE ONLY HOT THING ABOUT THIS WOMAN IS:

    HER BOYFRIEND JUSTIN!!

  39. lara jane says:

    I agree with Gee Gee.

Also? “Hot” is very subjective. (I had a lot more but I’ll just leave it there.)

  40. Anonymous says:

Wow – modest! I can’t see the attraction with Jessica, she is very average looking just like millions of woman round the world. She is very androgynous, which may put some casting agents off? Great to hear that she thinks she’s ‘all that’ though I guess!

  41. Anonymous says:

might be hot if her nose didn’t look like michael jacksons……

  42. Anonymous says:

Oooooh. Good one. Give me a break.

  43. AliceW says:

    Her answer doesn’t make sense.

  44. meme says:

yeah, she’s so hot that she strips down to nothing in a movie and it goes straight to dvd.

  45. Emily says:

Someone like Angelina Jolie is considered both pretty/beautiful and sexy/hot by many. She also has starred in movies from several different genres, including more serious films. That said, I don’t know what Jessica and Megan Fox are smoking. Clearly being “too pretty” – whether being conventionally beautiful or having a more sexual kind of look – is not a total impediment, especially when you consider that some seriously good-looking women have gone through make-overs to look less glamorous in a movie!

  46. Ha says:

Please, the only think AJ has on either of these two is she’s a PR genius.

  47. Anonymous says:

Her whole face is starting to look like Michael Jackson. Her ‘acting’ sucks.
