It looks like Lindsay Lohan has some big shoes to fill. It was recently announced that she’d be starring in the the movie, ‘The Other Side,’ along with Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Jason Lee, Alanis Morissette and Dave Matthews.
But, the director, David Michaels, says that part was originally meant for Katie Holmes and was written with her in mind.
“Katie would call me from Berlin
at 4 a.m. her time to go over ideas and notes,” said Michaels, who also
cowrote the script. “We did this over successive weeks while she was
there with Tom when he was filming Valkyrie. The result of our
collaboration has tremendously improved the arc and dynamic of the lead
character.”
But, funding ended up falling through for the project when the movie was originally supposed to film, so Katie moved on and ended up doing All My Sons on Broadway instead. When they started looking for a replacement for the indie film, David thought Lindsay was the girl for the job.
“At the end of the day, it’s really all about delivering something
remarkable that translates to the big screen, so the real work for us
is still ahead.”
I wonder how they made the switch from Katie to Lindsay. That’s quite a jump…those two ladies are NOTHING alike! Do you think Lindsay will be better in the part than Katie would have been?

My opinion?? This movie will not open to good ratings. I don’t think Lindsay has any followers anymore. It’s hard for me to believe that her last “flops” are truly all because of the script.
Lindsay and Katie are both horrid actors. I could really care less about Lindsay and wish everyone would stop talking about her. She does nothing admirable and we have heard about this stupid part she got like 10 times so far. WHO CARES?!? She is a drugged out, washed up, anorexic, head case who has a disgusting sense of entitlement and takes no responsibility for her actions.
So they picked a troubled actress over someone who can’t act and would have sunk into oblivion, had not her crazy cult-following husband stepped in and bought her the Broadway part. If Lindsay really wants her career back on track, this will be better for the movie than having Katie Holmes “on their minds”. I don’t think a project connected to Scientology (through Jason Lee, Giovanni Ribisi) is right for Lindsay though, or anyone who has a mind on their own.
Hohan had better not infect my Dave Matthews or I will have to kick her ass….seriously, Dave is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! Seeing him in 2 weeks!!!!!

When I read the headline I thought it was gonna be about how Tom interviewed Lohan for the role of Bride Of Tom.
That would have been GREAT.
Lindsay Lohan is a talented actress, it’s just that the movies she gets herself involved with are horribly made. If the director of this movie is any good then it will be a fine movie
If Lindsay cleans up her act and acts like a professional on this project, she could turn her entire washed-up career around … don’t know if she has the smarts to know that, though.
I’m more surprised that Tom didn’t kick in some money when the financing fell through.
I think Katie and Lindsay are interchangeable. They are both very mediocre actresses. I think the character is a grad student…..I definitely see Katie more in that role. Katie is also less risk because Lindsay sure isn’t healthy these days.

Hmm. I’m pretty sure the first actress to have this role was Brittany Murphy. Katie might have had input into the part after Brittany’s participation was nixed, who knows why.

Lindsay can at least perform to a leave where it’s considered acting, but katie NO. SHE JUST CAN’T ACT. the proof is in the pudding. she can’t carry a movie , let alone a role in anything without losing the audience. so the switch was a good call. they never wanted katie , answer this , why couldn’t they ask her to pick up were they left of? she’s no A-list actor with a busy schedule! Right! what is she doing now that the role couldn’t be offered to her once again? The producer got off scott free. and they are tickled pink. Tom must have been pushing them to give her that role and when SHE BAILED they knew they could use that as a escape goat. please, katie is lucky she even has any interest in her career.
I hope this is one chance that this girl will not waste. She is young and still has a chance to turn her life around.
Katie is classy and all around talent all the way. Im glad Katie dumped this for broadway and the Del Torro movie plus most of the actors in Other Side are Scientologists so its best she’s not part of the movie where the trash papers will print more nonsene.
What about her is classy? She walks around like a very old haus fraus all the time. And what talent are you referring to? She barely has any.
Every one is entitled to their opinion. but personally i think Lindsay has been doing this since she was a little girl, she is a very talented actress. is just sad that she had to make a few poor personal choices in public and not be a bit more descrete about her personal life. but then again we all make mistakes and you learn as you go. wish her nothing but the best of luck, and hope she can turn things around for the better.
Well, I hate to say it – not a huge fan of either but the camera likes Lindsay and it’s not really difficult to out-act Katie.
