Well, why not! Every other movie is getting remade or expanded. Why would Heathers be saved or spared?
In an interview with Us Weekly, Winona Ryder confessed that there will in fact be a sequel to the 1988 cult classic.
“Whatever you hear, there is a sequel in the works. I swear to God,”
she told the magazine. “But for some reason the writer Dan Waters and
director Michael Lehman don’t want to talk about it. I’ve been wanting
to do a sequel forever. There is a story, and Christian [Slater] has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character.”
At least the main characters are in!
The actress also talked about Angelina Jolie’s success in ‘Girl Interrupted’, another one of Winona’s infamous films.
“I knew from the outset that whoever played Lisa was going to get all the attention,” Ryder tells the July issue of Empire magazine. “At one point they asked if I wanted to play Lisa and I said, ‘No, I want to be Susanna.’”
“When it came out, people almost felt bad for me. But I expected it all along. I was really happy with the film, and really proud of it.”
“At the time I worked with her, she was battling her looks because she’s so beautiful,” she said. “She wanted very much to be taken seriously and not just judged on her looks. And she conquered that.”
I wonder why this was even brought up? I mean Angelina won the Academy Award in 1999! Bringing it up now out of nowhere is a bit odd. I guess reporters will take any link to Jolie to print a story these days.

The movie was great but anyone who reads the book understands that in the movie script Lisa has much more spotlight. It almost seemed that Lisa was the main character. I think the Oscar was fair, minding the script.

Angelina did nothing but play herself to win that award. Not knocking it but lets not act like it was a far stretch for her to play a self absorbed head case.

I love Heathers and the thought of them doing anything with it is making me consider a boycott on all movies.
I love Winona, I have ever since Lucas but it was in Girl, Interrupted that I realized that she can’t act. All her emoting is done through her cigarette. I think that started with Reality Bites, but I’m not sure.
Angelina has been one of my faves since Hackers. I do think she’s very talented and that she gives 100% to any role she takes. But sometimes she takes bad roles.
To be fair WR was good in GI.

I am that one kid who was tripped by Angelina when I was in first grade. I really don’t know how I’ve been able to live all these years with such a trauma. I am still going to therapy. My goal is to one day get out of this trauma and overcome it. Oh please d0g help me.
