Zac Efron Starring In Saturday Night Fever Remake

Zac Efron looks like he is securing his place as the next big thing out of young Hollywood.
Simon Cowell has been looking to produce a remake of 'Saturday Night Fever,' which originally starred John Travolta, and in Zac, he thinks he's found just the man to take the lead.
“Simon has been looking into buying the rights for years and opened
discussions with Robert [original film producer] about the remake. The charm offensive has been
in full swing and they made a breakthrough over the last couple of
weeks. Robert was keen to get some assurances the original wouldn’t be
completely butchered before he agreed to the deal."

a complete & utter travesty.
i thought Zac gave up the role in Footloose because he didn;t want to be typecast in musicals. So why do SNF?

I completely agree! He would've actually been good in Footloose (which I don't want to see remade, frankly, but Efron would've been the better choice). Bah. Why don't they ask us before they make these decisions? :)

if they were to do this they should look for a comparable travolta of this time. i imagine a shia could be right... (however, not a fan of him)
I think it is absolutely HORRIBLE Hollywood keeps doing re-makes. The originals are what they are..................classics. Watch them the way they were originally made! And though younger people wouldn't be able to recognize Travolta's former hotness looking at him today..........Zac is NO TRAVOLTA!

Why wont they leave the classics alone?Seriously,Saturday night fever is about more than just dancing and disco.Its an urban tragedy about life for young people trying to find there place in the world.The movie has atoned that is iconic and special and it doesnt need to be remade for todays selfish and utterly ignorant generation who only care about looks and fame.
