This is great! A woman who looks a lot like Ashley Greene’s ‘Twilight‘ character, Alice Cullen has picked up and moved to Forks from Ohio. Styna Whatman has cut her hair, threw on some glitter and changed her clothing in order to be a perfect match for the on-screen vampire.
Talk about taking it too far.

The funny thing is people are really getting a kick out of it! Fans and town members alike go nuts for Styna and her golden brown contact lenses.
Whatman arrived in Forks in mid-April on a vacation from her home in faraway Belleville, Ohio.
She fell for Forks.
“It’s amazing here,” she said, “people are so nice.”When asked if the Twilight connection is her main reason for moving to Forks, Whatman said, “I’m supportive of it, but the bottom line is it’s a nice town.”
Now she’s working at Leppell’s dressed up as Alice Cullen, down to the fine details like sparkly makeup, just the right hair cut and golden brown eyes thanks to a pair of contact lenses.
How is she taking advantage of the ‘Twilight’ craze? Fans can pose for pictures with her for a small fee or enter her raffle for a chance to take her to this year’s High School prom.

Strange story. Plus the angle of the photograph and the haircut is meant to mimic the actress, but I honestly don’t think she looks like Ashley Greene at all. I definitely didn’t look at this photo and think it was Ashley.
Maybe I’m being anal, but I think the resemblance is a bit forced to be throwing words like “dead ringer” and “perfect match” around, at least from this angle. But any way to siphon Twilight fanboys and fangirls of their hard-earned fanmoney is something I stand behind 100%. I knew Tyna would be a success someday. And if she’s reading this, a million pokes to her in her glitter-speckled face.
And on a side note, I don’t think anyone who looks like that would need to draw on a frenzied fad phenomenon to get people to pay money to take hug-pictures with her or get a date to the prom with her.

I have lived in Forks all my life and so has all of my family. When Stephenie Meyer wrote this book, she knew VERY little about Forks…infact, a lot of her details in the book do not match up to reality.
Styna works with me at Leppells Flowers…and sure, she might have been hired because she looks like Alice, but who freaking cares? She is getting paid to work, just like everyone else. And, she even tried to work some days as “Styna” and all the fans that came in (we get between 50-100 daily) were upset they couldn’t take a picture with her!
So, get over yourself. She is NOT wrong in taking advantage of this awesome opportunity.
i personally dont think she looks like Ashley Greene at all. her 2 seconds of fame wont last long. there’re a lot of look alikes in all cities, this is not nothing worthy of.

So far my “2 seconds of fame” has been going on for about 2 months, and I have people e-mail me all the time saying they’ll be coming to Forks for vacation in September, November, next year even who hope to run into me in the shop.
It brings more of a realistic feel for the Twilighters who come into town just to see the sites.
I’m pretty sure in the back of every tourists mind who comes through, they think how cool it would be to run into a vampire in town. I’m about as close as we can get without actually attacking people.
I don’t claim to look like Ashley Greene, she plays Alice amazingly, and she’s a beautiful woman.
I’m just a fan who was offered a great opportunity and took it.
I’ve made some wonderful friends here, the scenery is beautiful, and the people are awesome.
It’s better than working at Starbucks.
That said, she can live her life however she chooses. I think everyone’s seen a photo of a celebrity or a movie char. and gotten a haircut similar to that. Why else would Jen Aniston’s hair have become so popular? If she’s happy, than that’s her choice.
Styna, you seem to have a good grasp on the situation (I think people were startled initially because they weren’t sure if the story was about someone who honestly thought she was Alice or Ashley or something. You never know these days), and in the end I guess it’s no different from the actresses who dress up like Snow White at Disney world, or Marilyn Monroe/Elvis impersonators. Lots of people get their hair or makeup ideas from celebs anyway. Good luck in Forks!

i had the pleasure of meeting “Alice” in early June, and she is just a doll! Yes, I packed my bags from middle of nowhere Missouri and headed to Forks with a friend because of a BOOK. The description of the little town in the story made me want to see it for myself. And it was unbelievable. And I’ll go back- not because of the book or the movie, but because of the true “small town” feel of Forks, and all the great people I met when I was there.
The town didn’t ask for this to happen to them, but in this unbalanced economy, they should take advantage of it. I came from Missouri, cabined next to two sisters from Canada, and we met a family all the way from GERMANY. because of a BOOK.
“Alice” isn’t a fool. Like she told me, “You take pictures with Mickey Mouse, right?” So I took the pictures, and have a good laugh- and even brought home teh neatest souvenir- “Alice” prompted me to get my haircut when I was in Forks. Any fan of the book knows Alice can see into the future- she was right when she told me my husband would love it!
“Alice” is having fun. As most of the fans are teenagers and moms coming in, there’s no harm…
