Billy Joel And Katie Lee Joel Split

After looooooooooots of cheating rumors swirling around regarding Katie Lee Joel and designer Yigal Azrouel, she and husband Billy Joel have split. Who knows if the rumors were true or if the pressure was just too much for them both to take.
"After nearly five years of marriage, Billy and Katie have decided to separate," reps for the pair said in a joint statement.
"This
decision is the result of much thought and consideration. Billy and
Katie remain caring friends, with admiration and respect for each
other."
But, reps for the couple say that Yigal had nothing to do with the impending divorce, and their friends say the same.
"Their decision to separate was absolutely unrelated to Yigal," Joel's spokeswoman, Claire Mercuri said.
"It
was really the age difference that caught up with them," said a friend
of the couple. "They grew apart. She is very career-oriented. She loves
going out. She loves the city. When Billy isn't touring, he'd rather be
on Long Island with his motorcycles and boats."Still, the friend added, "I can't imagine the stories about Yigal helped."
One ally of Lee said, "Billy is no one to talk. It wasn't like he was a monk when he was on tour."
But
a longtime pal of Joel insisted "he's always remained faithful to
Katie. When he was touring with Elton John, he flew home almost every
night. He rarely stayed in a hotel room. When would he have done this
supposed fooling around?"
Billy Joel does have a prenup so I imagine this will be relatively low-profile as far as celeb divorces go. However, what about the restaurant he supposedly just bought her this week?!?

I hear on the radio this morning that he was buying her a restaurant in Sag Harbor, now they're divorcing? If is true and they are divorcing because of the age difference; it goes to show you that when a man marries a woman young enough to be his daughter it never works. She is young and wants to live and party; while he just wants to relax at home because he has already been there and done that.

I guess that's what happens when you marry someone who is young enough to be your daughter.....I remember the to do about their wedding and the pictures of his daughter at the ceremony....you could just tell she was probably tired of rolling her eyes..."yeah my dad is marrying someone who I could have been in 5th grade with". Let's hope he made her sign a pre-nup!
I guess she decided she didn't want to wake up next to a wrinkled old man and suck on that old man droopy sack anymore. She took a long look at wrinkle Billy Joel and decided the money was not worth it.
I had a relationship with a man 22 years older than me and it ended up being a huge mistake. The first two years were great and then the age difference became very noticeable to me. He asked me to marry him and the age difference really smacked me in the face. Did I really want kids with a man who would be in his early 60's when our child graduated high school? Did he really want more children, as he already had two? I really think he just wanted a young wife to show off to his friends and I foolishly equated age for maturity and intelligence. My parents also hated him!
I guess my point is that it rarely works out with such a big age difference. There are a few cases that do work, but they are the exceptions not the rule.
She's only 27 years old and he's like 127. She has way to much energy, besides have you seen the guy that she supposedly cheated with. HOT!
He should get back together with Christie Brinkley. lol
Billy Joel's depression is well documented. However, whats interesting is how it plays itself out among well to do men. Often, they chase after younger and more beautiful women mistakenly thinking that 'this is it', 'she will make me happy for life'. Inevitably, it all ends the same way. Well to do men can actually do that, imagine a plumber looking like Billy Joel marrying a woman like that!! Women are so pathetically shallow.
