A Decision Has Been Made About T.R. Knight's 'Grey's Anatomy' Contract

According to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, it is official: T.R. Knight is leaving 'Grey's Anatomy.' The decision was reportedly made just within the last few days; apparently June 30 is the deadline for picking up/declining the actors' contracts.
The actor's exit closes yet another rocky chapter for the embattled
primetime soap, one that opened with Isaiahgate and worsened when, amid
rumors that Knight was clashing with series creator Shonda Rhimes,
George O'Malley was backburnered. Finally, Knight grew so fed up with
his character's lack of storyline that he asked if he could check out
three years before his deal expired. After that, all indications were
that he would be let go, although Rhimes didn't make a final decision
until recently."
Shonda Rhimes, the show's creator, has reportedly denied rumors that she will re-cast the role of George. However, she did want George to appear in a few episodes next season, but a short-term deal reportedly couldn't be worked out.

I liked his character, but thought it was pathetic that he had one line in every episode this past season. At least he went out with a bang! I'm disappointed he won't be back for an episode or two next season to wrap things up. I hated when Denny died and the actor couldn't come back due to his being on another show, they just threw a sheet over a corpse and had Bailey talk to him that way. It wasn't very moving.

I completely agree, except we ended up getting a lot more Denny after that. I quit watching the show two seasons ago because the storylines were getting progressively more boring and/or contrived.

Ahh!! this reminds me of the season finale..i cried man. The end was so emotional! I can see where it may make it possile to recast George...he was so badly burned...maybe he gets some plastic surgery and he looks different..i dunno, but how will they explain his dying in the finale? man I love this show, but after George and Calli got married and he cheated...his character went sooooo downhill.. I think that was the beginning of the end.
