Dennis Quaid's Twins Settle Drug Lawsuit

Dennis Quaid's Twins Settle Drug Lawsuit

Lawyers representing Dennis Quaid's twins, Zoe Grace and Thomas Boone, have settled their lawsuit with Cedars-Sinai Hospital, which accidentally adminstered an overdose of the blood thinner Heparin to the twins that nearly killed them.

According to the docs, the babies have 'not recovered completely from
the effects of the injuries.' The docs says 'the overdose has subjected
the [children] to emotional and possible future injuries...' "

The hospital has agreed to pay each twin $250,000 and will provide free medical care for any issues arising related to the Heparin overdose. As well they should!

Dennis and his wife, Kimberly Buffington, already settled their own lawsuit against Cedars-Sinai for $750,000.

Hopefully Zoe and Thomas will be okay! Talk about every parents' worst nightmare.

I don't think that is enough money to compensate for this mistake.

This is so sad to even read i think that they should of got much more money for this error. I hope the best and lots of health to their twins.

The twins settled their own lawsuit?! Wow. They sure are smart. Great title! You make them sound like child prodigies.

Legally it is the twins. As the first sentence reads, "Lawyers representing Dennis Quaid's twins..."

Grow a brain, idiot.

Coming fromthe idiot who cannot read the title of the thread that states, "Dennis Quaid's TWINS Settle Drug Lawsuit" thus implying that the TWINS are the ones that settled the lawsuit. What a moron you are.

Why is it always about money with people? Maybe they don't care about money (they are celebrities, they are rich)... maybe they are just happy that the babies are still alive and functioning? At least their medical expenses will be covered in the future; in a sense, that should be enough. But the people who work at that hospital should be fired immediately. =^_^=

i agree as well, plus all that's a lot money the hospital is losing and other people will suffer from it.

I agree!

True, but as a person, you don't have that authority. The only thing you can do is go in a civil suit. And in cases like this the hospital says it isn't to blame, and you want them to pay. And money is the only legal way. A penal case is only done by the prosecutor...

They are so lucky, the outcome could have been so much worse. I hope the drug company finally decides to have different colored labels for adult and infant dosages. They have been asked to do that for a long time, this isn't an uncommon mistake, tragically. And not all outcomes are as good as this one was.

Really you said " they look healthy. " That is not enough money after attorney's fees and an entire lifetime left to live. Some of the comments show that people don't consider medical accidents just as damaging as physical accidents. I'm sure my son and I look healthy too, but after several doctor's made a mistake my son is deaf and I am paralyzing. Please don't assume because someone looks healthy to you that everyone turned out fine and dandy with a check for their inconvenience. I hope their future problems are minimal.

While I do get the twin's lawsuit, I'm a bit baffled as to why the parents would get more. And it would be nice if people like them who have lots and lots of money already donated some, if not all, it's not that they need it.

Well, it might be for things like lost wages and whatnot during the extended stay of the babies. If he had a movie he was supposed to be shooting but couldn't because of the negligence of the hospital. I'm guessing here. ;)

Wow, that is a huge deal to have something go wrong with the staff of that hospital. They treat sooooooooo many celebrities!

Oh please. My friends daughter was given an overdose of pennicilin that completely stopped her heart. It took 20 minutes to recesitate(?sp) her. A year and a half later she does not appear to have any long term effects. Her family did not recieve 3/4 of a million dollars. They have free care (after insurance pays) for all three of their children at that hospital and of course didn't pay anything for that admission. That child has been getting speech therapy and physical therapy that isn't covered by insurance and that is now free but that is all. So don't tell me these already rich people needed to be reimbursed for loss time etc.
Although I do feel terrible for them. Nobody should have to live through this.
