Brad Pitt Baseball Movie Is A No-Go
That's too bad! I'm sure we'd all relish another chance to see Brad Pitt on the big screen or promoting a new movie! But, unfortunately it looks like his latest project, a baseball movie, is a no-go. They were about to start shooting when Columbia pictures decided to take 'Moneyball' out of production.
Pulling the plug this close to production is extremely rare for
studios but sources said Columbia's president of production Amy Pascal
wasn't comfortable with the script, which had changed considerably
since the movie was greenlit.Steven Zaillian and Soderbergh wrote the screenplay (with the most
recent barely a week old), adapting Michael Lewis' nonfiction book
about the Oakland Athletics and their GM Billy Beane, who assembled a
contending ballclub despite having a payroll much lower than other
Major League teams.
It seems weird to me that the studio got cold feet. I mean, did they really think it would do poorly? Brad is a big enough star that he can carry pretty much any movie, right?
I'm not sorry that I have to miss that movie.
I'm sure Brad will be just fine he has a full plate; He has 18 projects and is busy throughout 2012 and beyond.

It doesn't matter who stars in a movie. It doesn't guarantee a big hit. If the president is uncomfortable with the script, she's not going to give it the go ahead. It's weird that the script was re-written just a week ago and the studio heads just saw it a couple of days ago. Things could change if Steven goes with the original script or the studio could fire Steven and hire a new director who will do the original script.

Brad Pitt is the biggest movie star out there, absolutely. However, I understand their nervousness greenlighting it. It's a *baseball* movie. When was the last time those worked. Field of Dreams?? George Clooney was on the marquee of a football movie 12 months back, and even he couldn't save it. The film tanked. I think it's good for everyone that they backed out of the project.

I dunno. He's still a decent actor but he doesn't that "mmmm" factor anymore. Not for me, at least. I agree - that getup he's wearing is not flattering at all.
