Cameron Diaz Finds Religion In Surfing

Some celebrities prefer Kabbalah, some prefer Scientology. Cameron Diaz has her own special method. She likes surfing. Cameron feels like the sport gives her a direct line of communication with a higher power.
"It's funny everyone sees me as a surfer girl because I grew up in
California but as a child I never surfed because I had no one to teach
me and I didn't even have a surf board. I love it now
though. It's very spiritual for me. It's like being directly in touch
with God. It's so healing and amazing."
Yeah, I know people too who find physical activity to be very spiritual. I'm not one of them. :) What about you?

She does have a point. You can find the same connection in the mountains or in the desert... anywhere you're completely enveloped in nature.

I love observing nature from afar, but not so much being in the thick of it. Although I would love to go surfing one day!
Not surfing, but I have a form of physical activity that I do find has a spiritual element to it, even if I don't consciously think of it as that. I think everyone has something that brings them peace or closer to God or allows them to reflect , and it doesn't have to be a form of exercise. It could be reading, or singing or drawing, whatever. The fact that everyone has a different answer is what makes the world so interesting.
For me it's yoga. I feel like I'm at some sort of religious meet during a yoga class.

I don't know if she was saying the physical activity is what is so spiritual. I think what brings you that feeling of being with God is being in nature. I love surfing, snowboarding and snorkling and they all make me feel that way.
