No Baby Plans For Ellen DeGeneres And Portia De Rossi
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi say they have no plans to have children at the moment. In fact, the happily married couple says they enjoy raising their little animals and don't feel the need to expand any further.
"No, I don't think we're going to have kids," Ellen tells AOL's Inside/TV when asked if they were going to be moms. " We have animals, and we love them. They don't talk back, and they don't explore their vocal chords out in public."
Besides, they are both surrounded by children through their family members.
"[Portia's] brother and his wife just had a baby girl who's a month old now, and it's fun to be a part of that. But no, I think, you know, we definitely thought about it. And it's something I think most people, as a relationship goes on, explore. But it's just a huge responsibility, and I don't know that that's something we want to take on. We're very happily married without children."

Ya, I think some people feel pressure to have kids just cause that's kinda what everyone does. Some people just don't desire them and of course that's fine. I can't wait to have kids though, hahah.. down the road, that is... I will raise my kitties and my kids.

As my name states, I am an obvious supporter of those who are different, which it appears is someone you are not. Hitler also was against the different and had them taken care of, removed from the earth, as so you suggest. There are a lot of people who are different, many who are biologically different from birth with a different genetic make-up, different genetic markers, many with vastly different minds, lower than 79 or higher than 130 IQ, approximately 1% of the population, and they, too, are vastly different from each other, but together bring to humanity a cross section of skills so incredibly different from the average of 85 to 115 the vastly average that makes up approximately 90% of the population, with common thoughts, trends, goals, achievements, personalities, which makes it easy to teach, to socialize, to moralize, to control and that is exactly what I hear you speaking, the common philosophy of a common aged generation who read the common bible that was written by common men around 150 years after Christ was born out of a common life kept through a common oral history. But as to your biblical reference, I must have to remind you of the Ten Commandments that specifically state that one must not kill. So as to your notion of "cleaning up of society" of all those who are "different" and unappealing to you in their differences, well you will must have to find a "different" solution. There have been many like yourself who have dealt with those who are different, consider the historical experience of African Americans as different, and how many years and laws it took to make their difference significant to their contribution to America as a better nation, and the contribution of those with different abilities (as considered disabilities) who have contributed to our culture through art, music, landscape design, dance, operatic singing, poetry, and so many other forms of visionry, painting with their teeth or toes, rendering art through adapted computers, blind writing poetry and books, how many ways can you imagine that the many forms of art are available to those with different abilities that you would have them condemned for being different, and oh, the design world of fashion would take a real dive if people like you drove the world. And so I am so terriby, awfully glad that you are not in a position of power to harm these people in any way, and leave the "different people" to their world of friends, employers, lovers, professors, and many others who support, mitigate, and advocate for those who are different.
My brother has schizophrenia, and even made it through college to get a BA in Geography with honors, and I will tell you there were many students who stared at him when he went into a pschosis and ever so politely whispered to his demon, or took it out of class, and the professors made their students be polite as polite as my brother was about not interrupting the class with his psychosis. He did try working as a surveyor for about a year, but then they put him onto the heights of the early stages of bridges that scared him too much, and he could not do it. He had already been approved for disability, and to his great disappointment, found that he could not handle the work, and just continued to study. As an alumnae of a college within a consortium he had the rights to take classes at and use any library within the consortium. Well his group home was but next door to one of those libraries, and after about a year, he was finally removed from that library by the guard after several times students reported being wierded out by him when he would have a very quiet psychosis, but even as he wasn't making hardly any noise, nevertheless he spooked them and the guard asked him to leave, and being utterly devastated, he did. I live 1500 miles away, and after the 2nd time this happened, I called that library to speak to the head librarian, who said she would have a stern word with the guard, as she was familiar with my brother, but alas, after being shamed twice, he would no longer put himself in that position again, and so I scoured thrift shops and would sent him college texts on chemistry and biogenetics, ancient history and calculus, so he could pursue his studies in his own room. They even put a desk in the hallway for him. His group home counselor did go to the head librarian to disgrace the library for having disgraced my brother so badly he would not go out there again and almost promised them a case in court should it ever happen again.
But the waitresses at Denny's loved him. He came there first time with his counselor, and when he started psychosis, his counselor would gently bring him back into conversation and they did have a good time. So then sometimes he would go there by himself, it was so close, and he would order their 2X3's (2 eggs with 3 pancakes) and the waitresses would be all over him talking to him, giving him coffee for free and if he started psychosis, one of them would go over and sit by him and started to talk with him, and he would be fine, and whenever he had extra money, he would go to Denny's and get a 2X3 and he was happy to be there. Thank goodness for Denny's in Webster Square, Worcester, you all are so good.
Well, I'll tell you something else, I am bipolar, have post traumatic stress disorder, severly depressed, and was paranoid all through graduate school where I manifested some ocd behaviors with my shakey fingers, but my graduate advisor still encouraged me to go on for a Ph.D., I was such a fine student, and all my internships went so well. They tested me; I had an IQ of 151, Summa Cum Lauded my BA, GPA'd my MA 3.97. And successfully taught emotionally disturbed and mentally challenged kids K-3 for 8 years. Then I taught adult disturbed and challenged for a college for 3 years before our governor unfunded our program which had been an institution for over 20 years. Then the college gave me adjunct classes to teach, but the governor cut the college's funding so that meant overloads for the full-time teachers and cutting the adjuncts. So, I guess, we'll see. But you know for all I learned from my students, almost better than graduate school, and from my brother, too, that unconditional acceptance and love initiated motivation was the most successful teacher to all of my students. Yes, and some of them had issues of gender orientation, as young as 5, and you know when they were unconditionally loved for who they were, they flourished.
So, I guess what I am trying to say is what Christ tried to say 2000 years ago, and maybe it sounds silly to you, but LOVE is the only real answer. Find it in your heart, you will be soooo much happier. Love people for who they ARE, don't hate them for who they aren't. Hate is a heart killer; wouldn't you rather be happy with all the Lord's children he brought into this world?

I'm a happily married straight white female & a mom of teenagers. All of my kids are straight. And all of them have friends that are homosexual & straight. Gays AND lesbians! To many Bible verses remind us that we come to our beliefs independently and that we will be judged according to our understanding. "What you do to the least of my people..." "Judge ye not lest..." I don't remember anything in the Bible that says "And for those who judge the harshest, and wish harm, and criticize vehemently, the Kingdom of Heaven shall be theirs. " Funny though, I doubt if any of these ppl would have the courage to stand before God and judge any of HIS creations. Deciding to NOT have kids. The line from HOOK with Robin Williams reminds me of deciding to have or to not have kids. "Your parents used to stay up all night just to watch the sun rise, they were happier before you were born, because they were free." The line was delivered by an Aging Captain Hook to convince the son of the grown up Peter Pan that his father did not love him.
The line that freedom = happiness rings so very true for many people. As a mother of 2 "oops pregnancies" and 2 adopted kids also, I am sure that the happiness of responsibility and of sharing lives is of great value too. But it is a different happiness than freedom and I respect people who either have kids and value that happiness or don't have kids and value that happiness. It is the idiots who have kids and abandon or resent them that screw up the whole of the world.
Anyone who is truly interested in the "truth" and wants to know about real "salvation" should do themselves a major favor and research the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ. I commend Portia and Ellen for having the guts to say they don't want kids, and maybe never will - as a straight female I got no amount of criticism for saying I would probably never have kids, and some people were downright nasty about it - like it's every person's responsibility to procreate. Well, until I met the right man, I didn't want kids, now I have a perfectly wonderful daughter and no real inclination to have more (perhaps adopt, but not give birth). It doesn't matter whether they are lesbians or straight, it is every person's right to have kids and raise them if they want, and equally their right NOT TO WANT THEM TOO!

I agree that people who claim to know what the Bible says should actually read what the Bible says. Since I have a gay brother-in-law, and since his family is convinced he will go to hell, I have done extensive research into what the Bible says on the subject of homosexuality. Granted, I might have missed a reference, but I won't have missed much. Here's what I learned: The New Testament has only two references to homosexuality: both are in letters from Paul. He appears to be expressing his own opinion not quoting God directly. (BTW Paul wasn't so keen on marriage either. He basically said "Don't get married, but if you must then be faithful to your spouse.") The Old Testament has only two references to homosexuality, both of them in Leviticus.
So, what it boils down to is many people are basing their opinions about homosexuality on about four verses, but are completely ignoring the 223+ rules about making offerings to God, ignoring God's rule about not working on the Sabbath, ignoring God's rule about not eating shellfish, breaking God's rule about not lying or cheating (as if lying on a resume or cheating on taxes doesn't count), and aren't even aware of God's rule that on the 10th day of the 7th month we must do no work at all and must atone or our souls will be damned forever. I am confused about why it's OK to disregard nearly all of God's rules in Leviticus exept the one about homosexuality. I say that if any of us truly tries to follow all God's rules, then we might have some room to judge others who don't --- oh but then the Bible also says "Judge not" etc. Maybe we ought to just mind our own business and live our own lives and judging and damning others.

Wow...you've said so succinctly what I've thought for many, many years. The people who so easily quote the Bible on homosexuality think nothing of ignoring the other laws and rules spelled out. They commit adultery, cheat on taxes, tell lies when convenient but yet have the audacity to judge other people on what they do in the bedroom! One has to remember that God did not write the Bible himself. Men wrote down what he said and did in a different time and place when words and actions had different meanings. What I find even more remarkable was that homosexuality obviously existed even back then! Otherwise, why would have it been mentioned in the Bible? So, if God created all creatures and loves them without exception, he made these so-called "flawed" people and will embrace them just as he does heterosexuals. I just wish people who condemn others because of their sexual preferences would get a life! It's so sad to see so much hatred over something that doesn't affect them in any way. I never had kids but I am an aunt and I have a small parrot as a pet as he is very much like my niece and nephew but I don't have to get him shots to send him to school, I don't have to take him to the dentist, I don't have to buy diapers, bottles, pacifiers, formula, or anything that kids need. If I got him shots, it might kill him. I know I'm not ready for my own kids, I have a feathered kid and he's enough.

So many half-informed Bible references: #! The laws of the old testament were primarily infectious disease control. (Undercooked pork carried Taena, hand washing is vital, incest results in inbreeding and genetic disorders, etc.) The Old Testament is the story of a people who God said were stiffnecked and rebellious.
#2 Fast forward to the New Testament. The Hebrews had had hundreds of years as the Chosen People, and they repeatedly ignored God's laws, and in fact perverted many of them. They returned to idol worship, etc. AND SO-the Messiah that was prophesied came as promised. When he did, he did away with all of the hundreds of rules and rituals. No need to slaughter animals to repent of sin (which is why as the final sacrifice he is called the Lamb of God). No more dietary laws, as he said that what came forth from our mouths was what we should worry about, not what we ate. Over and over he made it plain that one sin was no worse than any other; to the woman who was to be stoned for adultery, he challenged the crowd "He who is without sin, throw the first stone. " The Christ was reviled for eating with sinners. He broke the Sabbath law by working. And he stated clearly that from then on, those who believed in his words were now the Chosen People, whether Jew or Gentile. He commanded us to love one another, and to forgive sinners 70 times 7. He also stated render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's- pay taxes, obey the laws of the land. And the basic 10 commandments held true- Love God , don't lie, steal, covet, murder, commit adultery. His message of love and caring was so simplistic he offended the Pharisees (my own Jewish brother in law says Christianity is just "too simple-why should God forgive us just because we ask?) In essence Jesus stated he came to free us from all the hundreds of rules and rituals, and in their place stated we were to love the Lord with all our hearts, love one another, not be judgemental, and live lives of kindness. Because he lived, much of the "laws" of the Old Testament no longer applied. We have obviously lost the simple essence of Christianity, with our hatred, racism, greed, and name calling. And as a Christian who is non-denominational, I am weary of all the Christian denominations who, apparently in an attempt to understand God, basically devolve to a narrow set of beliefs which I call the "God in a Box Syndrome". Perhaps it is a way for them to feel righteous and to think they understand God. It is my belief that we will not understand "The Great I AM" until we die; and I also believe that we will judge ourselves in that moment, in the light of His knowledge and understanding. (I keep hoping I'm not going to embarrass myself too much, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to feel I could have done much better!) Remember, he told us to search ourselves, (remember the story of the motes and beams?) Search ourselves and repent of our sins- not search and judge other people's hearts, minds and motives!
I do not watch these guys on TV, Not that I hate them, But I do hate their sin. God will be the ultimate JUDGE . And, you can put this in the bank.
I would not bad mouth them, however I do not like them always in my face either. As far as I'm concerned what they do to themselves is their business, just stay out of the LIMELIGHT. It is not normal.

Wow, the venom being spewed here about persons with different gender identity, so simply stated, is beyond the limits of any religious connotation. The last time I read the bible, the best thing I got out of it was that to follow Jesus heart was to love thy neighbor. Now gender identification does not, I believe, come under the law, except that in the backward states it does not allow for same legal identification, as in medical benefits, last intentions rights, and inheritance rights. In states like Massachusetts, where intelligence leads the cultural and legal issues, their laws reflect a humanity that provides for their religious history in Catholicism. That has been allowed to develop from the historically stuck Vatican ruled Papal works, and even the Priests are moving away from a Pope who himself, as only a person, can make mistakes, and this is just one of them. My second cousin years ago, went to Rome to take his vows at the Vatican, and found the hypocrisy there to be so overwealming, Cardinals with families, Cardinals with same sex relationships, why decrying that ordinary Priests and Sisters had to remain celibate, oh so many absurdities and lies!!! He
found a Sister also dealing with the hypocrisy, oh so confounded and hatefully enlightened, they two returned to the states, where James and Anna married went on to have a family while still being very involved with the church. The abuse of trust is staggering, and you hear on a regular basis members of the church, even children, being molested, consentually involved, whatever, the Catholic faith needs a total overhaul of what is acceptably demanded of their Fathers and Sisters, who, as we can appreciate from all the scandals, are only people, too, and cannot be expected to abdicate the realities of being human, especially when those at the top can't and don't.
Now, I, myself, was also aggressively approached by a Catholic Pastor in his parlor at the rectory, with what seemed to be much more than hint, but rather a near rape, and I understand how frustrating this stupid celibate requirement must be on the lives of real men. I forgave him, even though he did not ask for it, but I did in my mind and prayed for him.
Now I was born and bread up in the Catholic realm, was a Sunday School teacher for a while, until the Pastor nearly raped me, and then I was so disillusioned, but sorry for the man. I have reread a lot of the stuff I got fed, and a lot of it is meant to make you frustrated and feel lowly because according to the Catholic vision of the world, you can never do enough, you can never be good enough, you are never worthy, and I can say that my dad's Italian sisters humiliated my siblings and myself, when he died, for being unChristianly half French and these are supposed to be the Good Christian People.
OK, all you Good Christian People who want to Crusify people who are different, you just remember when Jesus turned up in the neighborhood still yet to be a man, and started telling people what God wanted them to do, and don't you think that they thought he was a little looney, too, like John the Baptist, and was cast off by many/most people and what do you think of that, maybe Jesus was bigendered, or other gendered, or politically correct gendered, with maybe Mary Magdeline, take your pick, anyhow I don't think he would have told you or anybody else in even His in crowd. And I believe that was quite on purpose, so we all wouldn't know, so we all would be generous to everyone else's choice about their gender identification. Now, isn't that the truly greatly intelligence Jesus left us with, with his own unestablished model, so you can't say this is right or that is wrong. He left it to each and every one of his people, and that is the miracle and meaning of morality about sex and Christ.
And always remember, Let he who is without sin, be the one to cast the first stone. Won't be me, I've sinned enough to fill a book, just another wannabe better Christian. So, in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, can we just let it go and let's let Jesus deal with it. He has communication with everyone whenever he wants, so let's not worry about having to tell other people what He thinks. I'm sure Jesus can do that very well. And let's do something I think Jesus would be greatly proud of...let's email a Gay Rights group, I don't have one in my head, but I bet you could google up right quick, and tell them that by golly your Jesus wants them all to have good lives and for you to tell them that you love them and will pray for them. Simple, easy, won't take up but a couple minutes, and profess God's love for you to another group of different people who are always harassed, sometimes killed, and be a kindly words or two.
You know that N. Korea has a military ship loaded with nuclear missiles sailing our way, and they are so mighty mad at the sanctions put on them by the UN, blaming it on us, that the word is they'll be dropping those missiles onto Hawaii July 4th. So, you know, before all the hate starts up again, let's start making amends among our own American people, because you know when after this happens you won't get a chance. I doesn't hurt to say I'm sorry and I love you. Take the chance, before it's too late.
