Anna Friel Feels The Strain Of Being A Working Mother

Anna Friel, star of ‘Pushing Daisies’ and the movie ‘Land of the Lost,’ confided to Closer magazine that being a working mother isn’t easy. Many of us can understand, I’m sure! She has a three-year-old daughter, Gracie, with David Thewlis (Remus Lupin in ‘Harry Potter.’)

I’d be a liar if I said it was easy.

I think it’s very different nowadays for
working mothers. Before, a woman could take two years off – a year for her
pregnancy and then the first year, but I don’t think that’s possible for
women in showbusiness or in any industry any more.

You just have to keep going – keep looking forward. If you stop, you’re lik’e, Oh God, it’s too overwhelming’. And believe me, I’ve had my fair share of
those moments."

Anna said her most difficult period was when she didn’t sleep for seven days. She was breastfeeding her daughter and filming at the same time. A doctor finally had to prescribe something to help her sleep.

Do you agree with what Anna’s saying? What’s been your most difficult point as a parent so far?

My son was easy but my daughter used to wake up every 2 hours… she goes back to sleep but I couldn’t go back to sleep after nursing her… then I had to get up and go work… it was very difficult.

Cute girl and her mum is saying the same thing most working mums do. It’s not complaining per say it’s sharing your experiences and it’s so much easier when you know you are not the only one and people around you do understand things you going through, BUT i wouldn’t change it for a world. And i like to talk about acomplishments we have not so much about things that were tough, but if fellow mum would ask, i have no problem saying things like, oh yes this was really hard, i’m still hear , healthy and happy and i have my husband and daughter to keep me smiling every second of my life.
    sorry for the rant

I agree, at times it is over whelming, but those moments when you look at your children and see their joy and their love, it makes it all worth while. I couldn’t imagine life any differently.—em’s

I am so sick of hearing people bitch about how hard it is to be a mom blah blah blah. It was YOUR decision none of us want to hear about it. I think lots of women have kids just so they get a free complaint/excuse pass.

She’s doing what millions of single mothers are doing, myself included. Life has its ups and downs, but I’m thankful to be healthy, semi-sane and gainfully employed.
