Elizabeth Hasselbeck Denies Plagiarizing Diet Book

In case you haven’t heart, Elizabeth Hasselbeck is being sued by another diet book author for plagiarizing her best-selling diet book, The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide.

Susan Hassett, a self-published author on Cape Cod, alleges in the lawsuit filed in Massachusetts that Hasselbeck lifted content from her book on celiac disease "word for word." It doesn’t cite specific examples.

Susan says that she mailed a copy of her own book to Elizabeth when Elizabeth announced on ‘The View‘ that she also had celiac disease.

However, Elizabeth is speaking back. The claims are:

"Without merit."

Hmmm, who’s telling the truth? Has anyone read both of these books? I mean, in a gluten-free diet book they are bound to have some similarities… but enough for a law-suit?

I was thinking of buying this, but I read Amazon customer reviews on it. And people said the book is basically a rehash of what’s already out there and that it’s mostly for beginners. You can’t really say if Elizabeth plagerized or not, unless you’ve read both books. I agree with Lizzypoo, I hope she didn’t plagerize, but Elizabeth is often in her own world.

Either way, I hope she loses a ton of money. Can’t STAND her!

She probably did it but I wasn’t being either book anyway. But her husband has some strong genes because hr children look nothing like her.

  4. I notice that everyone on the view except for sherri shepard has hawked their books during the show. its disgusting. i tune in depending on who their guest is and i have no interest in seeing them trying to sell whatever they can.

I had no idea she has Celiac’s. So many people are affected by it! Wow

If they can’t give any examples then it’s an invalid claim and an empty accusation.

I’m so lost on why people don’t like her… because she’s a republican? I mean, if she did plagerize, then it was wrong of her… but people are using this to attack her. I just dont understand.

  8. Anonymous82 says:

Well that’s because Sherri hasn’t written a book yet. She has plugged other projects. It’s their show and they are plugging everybody’s projects so I don’t see anything wrong in plugging their own. They even accepted to plug Heidi’s dry shampoo.

Wow…after reading these comments I realize just how many of you need a lesson on maturity. Since when did a person’s business decisions and job become about critiquing a person on a personal level. Whether you like her or not is irrelevant. (Besides I have always thought you would at least need to have one face to face conversation with a person before making a judgment on whether or not you like a person.) Whether or not you agree with her opinions and views…she is an intelligent and accomplished woman and as a woman myself…I am very proud to see any woman succeed.

Oh, is plagiarizing a republican family value now along with cheating on your wife. Oh Elizabeth your wrong on so many levels…I mean this woman defended Bush, the worst president we ever had. Why do I think of Sara Palin when I think of Elizabeth. We need the help of these two in 2012 so keep em out there.

It’s like a teacher asking students to write a paper about “ethics”, for example. Of course 99.99% of the students are going to start theirs with “What is ethics”. That doesn’t mean they have been copying one another’s papers.

  19. Cat says:

In today’s Newsday (p.A13) they said that Hassett claims that Elisabeth lifted entire lists and passages from the first book and has information included about celiac disease that is inaccurate and can be “misleading and dangerous”.

  20. Anonymous says:

she also (supposedly) has exact “tips” and recipes that are directly from the other authors book – she is a yappy tool. Her voice is incredibly annoying.

  21. DonnaJ says:

She’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

  22. Lizzypoo says:

I’d like to say she didn’t mean to, but who knows. She’s sometimes in her own world.

  23. Anonymous says:

This is just a ploy by the democrats to discredit her. ;)
