Marilyn Manson phoned Evan Rachel Wood 158 times in one day after they split.
The goth rocker struggled to cope when Evan called off their almost two-year romance last year, and has revealed he was so depressed over Christmas he resorted to self harm.
He explained to Spin magazine:
"My lowest point was Christmas Day 2008, because I didn’t speak to my family. My walls were covered in scrawlings of the lyrics and cocaine bags nailed to the wall. And I did have an experience where I was struggling to deal with being alone and being forsaken and being betrayed by putting your trust in one person, and making the mistake of that being the wrong person.
"I made the mistake of trying to, desperately, grasp on and save that and own it. And every time I called her that day – I called 158 times – I took a razorblade and I cut myself on my face or on my hands."

The 40-year-old musician revealed his new album ‘The High End Of Low’ is about the break-up, adding hurting himself was his way of showing Evan, 21, how much she had hurt him.
"This was intentional, this was a scarification. I wanted to show her the pain she put me through. It was like, ‘I want you to physically see what you’ve done.’
"That damage is part of the record, and the song ‘I Want to Kill You Like They Do in The Movies’ is about my fantasies. I have fantasies every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer.
"’Devour’ is about when someone said to me, ‘OK, I want to be with you until I die.’ And then they gave up. I was at the point in my life where I was like, ‘OK, let’s die, but I tell you what, I’m going to kill you first, because I don’t trust you.’ "

well if it’s true what you heard CapturingLife, then it must be so hard for him always be someone else, but yourself. I’m not trying to argue or anything like that, but i have hard time imaging good person saying “I have fantasies every day about smashing her skull in with a sledgehammer”. poor guy…He posts bulletins from his Myspace from time to time. The last one I read was a really dark poem. It depressed me to read it. I really hope he goes back to his old music though…that last album was a bit emo and that is SO very not typical Manson.
Uhmm… if he’s not saying all of this just to get attention or a reaction and this is how he really feels, that is REALLY scary.

there is a good chance that he really is turning those into art. i saw a docu where he showed his (very clean, organized) studio and talks about art.
that’s kinda scary. I’ve felt like that about exes bf. It’s hard not to get hurt and angry. As long as they stay thoughts and not actions.

Manson may dress like a woman but he’s a typical male. How many times have men cheated on women and ended relationships? Do you see Rachel Hunter for example talking about smashing someone’s head with a sledgehammer. This is where violence and murder against women stems from.
At least he isn’t beating women up.

I’m so glad Evan Rachel Wood broke up with him. I never really noticed her until I watched “Across the Universe” early this year (I’m not obsessed with that movie! lol!) and she looked so much better with the reddish hair, or her blonde hair. I hope she never goes back to this creepy guy… Shudder…

There are a few of his songs that I love. I think some of this is interview is just for “shock factor”. I’ve heard so many times that he is truly an intelligent & normal guy who just says/performs in ways that are completely opposite of what he’s REALLY like.

the news from today that they are back together made me come back to this posting…i can’t believe she took him back after reading that he wanted to smash her head in. of course he said he just fantasized about it, but goodness! i have respect for marilyn as an artist (have you seen his paintings? the man has real talent), but as a boyfriend or husband, i have zero respect for him.
