Michelle Pfeiffer Is No Cougar

In her new movie, ‘Cheri,’ Michelle Pfeiffer plays a retired courtesan who finally falls in love for a real: with a man 30 years younger than her (played by Rupert Friend) who happens to be the son of a rival courtesan (played by Kathy Bates).

So although common slang may refer to Michelle’s character as a "cougar," Michelle said that’s one slang term she’s ready to go out of style.

I can’t wait for that word to go out of fashion, I just think it’s …
I’m so over it. Not that I was ever really into it. Where did that
start, anyway? How did that evolve? Well, it’s not really what the
movie’s about. But if it brings people into the theater, I’m all for
that."

Michelle also shared her secret for looking so great at (gasp!) 51.

Well, the truth is that when I’m doing press and when I’m making
movies, I am super disciplined. I eat really well, I make sure I get
enough sleep, I exercise religiously — and all of that really matters
… And I have a whole team, so it’s not really fair. It’s not real
[laughs]. I couldn’t keep this up everyday of my life, nor would I want
to, because life would be really boring. But, ultimately it’s you are
what you eat and you have to exercise."

Whatever she does, she looks amazing.

Does ‘Cheri’ sound like something you want to see?

She’s gorgeous, always was and i’m sure will be. She’s talanted actress. I think lots of actresses could see that beauty isn’t just front facade it’s also what you are as a person and botox and other means to keep look youthful doesn’t worth your money. Keep it healthy and natural!

  4. Ladylala says:

She really is ageing well! Looks amazing!

I assume Cheri is from the Colette story? I’ve often thought it would make a great movie for a gorgeous older actress. Although one of the points of the story is that the courtesan stops wearing her corsets and lets herself get fat when she’s retired and poor Cheri is horrified–much as I love Michelle Pfieffer, she’s gristle, not fat. Still, I hope it’s a good movie, there’s certainly plenty of talent involved.

Wow, I wish I can be half as fit when I turn 50. MUST EXERCISE NOW.

  7. DonnaJ says:

I totally agree with her about the cougar statement and I don’t think I’ll see this movie, its just not something that I’m interested in. She does look amazing though.

  8. lovebug66 says:

Yes, I’ll see it. And I agree with the cougar statement. Interesting that older women with younger men get labeled a “cougar”, but older men with younger women have no label!! Sexist, to say the least.

Oh Please… When photo’s of Jeff Goldblum & Tania Raymonde where on here a couple of weeks ago everyone called him a pervert or pedophile. Those seem like pretty bad labels to me.
