Michael Jackson Dies At The Age Of 50

Michael Jackson was rushed to a hospital in LA after suffering a heart attack.

Stay tuned…

Update: TMZ has more information and it doesn’t look good for the singer.

  • The 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A.
  • A Jackson family member tells TMZ Michael is in "really bad shape" and the brothers are headed to UCLA.
  • We just got off the phone with Joe Jackson, Michael’s dad, who says "he is not doing well."

UPDATE 2: People Magazine has a quote from Michael’s father, Joe.

"His mother is on her way to the hospital now to check in on him. I am not sure what’s wrong. I am waiting to hear back from them."

Update 3: Sense of urgency around the pop star according to US Weekly.

According to X17, more than 10 members of Michael’s entourage arrived at the UCLA Medical Center just after 1 p.m. PST after following the ambulance.

"They all got out of the SUVs in a panic and Michael was wheeled into the emergency room on a stretcher," the site reports. "There was definitely a sense of urgency and everyone looked worried."

Update 4: Now People is saying that he didn’t have a heart attack – INSTEAD he was rushed to the hospital because he wasn’t breathing.

UPDATE 5: TMZ is reporting that Michael Jackson has DIED.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

UPDATE 6: Police are now putting up barracades around Michael Jackson’s home to prevent fans from entering. It will also allow mourners to visit in an orderly fashion. I still can’t believe it.

UPDATE 7: NBC News has confirmed that Michael Jackson has been pronounced dead. I’m not sure whether or not to believe until we have rep confirmation, but the LA Times is also reporting that he is dead.

At this time, we STILL DON’T HAVE A REP CONFIRMATION. However, so many major media outlets are going with this story which leads me to believe it has truly happened.

UPDATE 8: CNN is confirming the death. My thoughts are with Michael’s children.

UPDATE 9: OK Magazine is saying the autopsy should occur tomorrow.

UPDATE 10: Hospital is about to hold a press conference.

UPDATE 11: LaToya was seen hysterical crying as she entered the hospital. And a staff member is said to be the one to call 911 from Michael’s home.

Update 12: Al Shaprton has released a statement.

"Michael Jackson made culture accept a person of color," the Rev. Al Sharpton said. "To say an ‘icon’ would only give these young people in Harlem a fraction of what he was. He was a historic figure that people will measure music and the industry by."

Story developing.

This is all surreal. People commenting on blogs think it’s a joke for the most part. Do we believe this or not? If he has died, condolences to his family, maybe now, this poor tortured soul will be at rest.

Don’t you think the “12% off at Zappos.com” ad associated with Michael Jackson’s picture above is a bit inappropriate? I’m a huge fan of yours, but advertising on the photo of a recently deceased person is kind of tacky.

  26. Anonymous says:

CNN Confirmed – I loved him in the early 80′s. This is so very sad!

  27. Anonymous says:

some “idol” he was. He was a freaking pedophile. May he go to hell.

  30. Manimal says:

And here’s the third. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and now Michael Jackson. It always comes in threes. Sorry if I spelled any names wrong. Sad, sad string of events. Hopefully Michael will pull through.

    Really? I never noticed that . . . interesting.

  36. keri says:

    I’m horrible, I know.

  40. gretel says:

you’re not horrible, i thought the same. but i do hope they will grow up super prouds of their father, though.

  41. marta says:

I’m so sad. May his soul rest in peace. I always listen to some of his music like bad, remember the time and smooth criminal, I always have those in my mp3 player.

  42. AshleySherwood says:

This is horrible news. I cannot believe it, I am in a state of complete and udder shock! MJ was a talent that is one of a kind! My thoughts and prayers are with him, his children, and his family. God bless you Michael for entertaining us for more years than I have been alive. You rock my world!

such sad news! i cannot believe it! he is an icon!!! sooo sad! perez hilton first made fun of his condition saying he is just faking it and urging ticket holders to get their money back. he has deleted that post after the sad news was confirmed. i think such behavior is outrageous! i cannot believe how heartless he is! pls, comment on his site and let him know what a jerk he is! i’m heartbroken

  52. Anonymous123 says:

Don’t believe it until it has been confirmed. Celebrity sites always want to be the first to report something so they like to jump the gun.

  53. smcose says:

  61. Lees says:

May you rest in peace, Michael. You will truly be missed.

  62. mjam623 says:

THANK YOU!!! I said to a friend of mine that, great music or not, he was a child molester. That trumps Thriller and the Moon Walk any day. I do feel badly for his children…though I agree with the poster who stated that maybe they can have a normal life now. MJ was a very troubled soul. My sympathies are with his family, but I will never be able to mourn the loss of the “King of Pop”…I will grieve for the children he scarred forever, though

  63. Stephanie B says:

    Absolutely unbelievable.

  71. Wilma says:

Im truly saddened by this news about Michael and Farrah. Michael more because i’ve been a fan since I was little. I remember having the michael jackson doll and having his record lol. Child abuser or not, An Icon just passed away. People shouldnt bring up his troubled past but instead remember what a great artist he was and what an impact he made on music and many people’s lives. This is a man who had people crying when they saw him. I dont think in our lifetime will there be another artist like him. Artist of today looked up to him. He was and will always be the King of Pop. RIP MJ .. you will be missed.

  72. Anonymous says:

so who is going to take on the responsabilty of his children now.
for they dont need to feel abandoned

  73. Anonymous says:

I can’t even comprehend this. There will never be another Michael Jackson. His poor children must be so heartbroken. He really seemed to be a good father. RIP

  74. Cynthia says:

Fan or not, everyone must admit he was a legend. Rest in peace.

  75. Nimbus says:

Wow, it really is an end of an era…. I feel bad for his children being left behind so young. What a shame I never got to see him perform. Rest in peace Michael.

  76. mjam623 says:

So wait, because he’s dead, people shouldn’t bring up the fact that he ruined the lives of who knows how many children? Do you think that his gold records and shiny white glove and cool videos are a comfort to those kids and their families???? It’s okay that he abused them because his music was the soundtrack to a generation?????? Wow. Just wow. I can’t believe you just said that. I hope that, if you have children, you never have to go through what these kids and their families have gone through, and THEN constantly see the molester’s face all over the tv. Death does not erase the horrible choices he made during his life

  77. Nimbus says:

Where the heck did you come up with this garbage????

  78. Wilma says:

Im sorry but he never was found guilty of the charges. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion thats why I posted mine. As far as me having children and that happening to them, the molester wouldnt of made it to court because he would be dead right now.

  79. Lizzypoo says:

I’m saddened by his death. He was a huge icon. I feel sorry for his young children. So unexpected.

  80. Anonymous says:

Thank god he’s gone, he can never hurt another child again. Most of you feel sorry for his kids? who knows what he was doing to them! I’m sure they are far better off now that he’s gone! Making his children walk around with blankets and masks on their heads? he was a freak! I don’t care how many millions of records he sold. All anyone cares about is Fame, if you are famous you can molest boys and murder your wife and get away with it.. it’s disgusting! I’ll certainly sleep better tonight knowing he’s in hell where he belongs!

  81. Anonymous says:

While I am sorry for his children and family left behind (the kids especially are in for a rude reality slap) those are the only kind words I have about the man. He was talented yes, but he was also over sheltered and over-indulged and became nothing more than freak and a victim of his own freakishness…which he’s most likely passed along to his children who will now have to find a way back to the real world (as Pop was $400 Million dollars in debt). Sad, but felt more sympathy and loss of Farrah than Michael.

  82. Lora says:

I’m so sad for his children. I’m just shocked by this news.

Perez Hilton doesn’t care about ANYONE except for himself. If it can get him fame and money, he’ll say it. He’s awful.

  93. casablancas17 says:

It’s not garbage, there are reports coming out that say that he was on a lot of different prescription drugs. Of course, it just may be rumors, but the Jackson family spokesman, Brian Oxman, told CNN that he was on a bunch of medications, and that “The people who have surrounded him have been enabling him. If you think the case of Anna Nicole Smith was an abuse, it’s nothing in comparison to what we have seen taking place in Michael Jackson’s life.”
What’s sad is that if this is true, what were his children seeing go on?

If I would have to guess, I would say that the girl and the bowl with the fish is a pencil drawing (maybe some ink, gouach or watercolor for the dark in the bottom of the bowl) He then scanned it, colored it in photoshop (the lineart as well) and then hand drew the pattern on the shirt in photoshop. Finaly he added the wallpaper-pattern, that’s probably from a stock photo with some filters over it…

I never believed that he was a child molester, but he did endure incredible suffering due to mental instability, his childhood was ripped from him- anyone who takes the time to look into his early years would see why he had an unhealthy obsession with children and trying to get back the childhood he never had.

For all of you making comments about how you are glad MJ is in hell, why not keep it to yourselves? The problems that you have are with him and he is now gone. So, why make hurtful comments to be read by those who mourn him? No matter how you feel about a person, don’t you think that those who loved him deserve time to grieve? Why would you punish those left behind for the alleged sins of the dead?

I agree, people making negative comments are really out of line. It is not the time or place. Even if you don’t respect him, at least respect the people that are truly saddened by his death. I’m sure everyone you know has someone that doesn’t like them, would it be appropriate for them to say such things to you if they died?

Michael Jackson, to me, was the soundtrack of my childhood. So many of his songs hold so much meaning for so many people. That is something that will never change.

And to all the poeple who have nothing nice to say:

Did you know he helped raise MILLIONS of dollars for the Africa famine-relief effort with the song “We Are the World”?

Did you know he was once in the Guiness Book of World Records for his support of 39 charities??

No matter how he changed over the years, one thing can never be denied. He was a true humanitarian and philanthropist. And he will be missed.
